aliens aren't stronger early game, aliens are strongest when they have better evolutions and traits before marines, and this is usually celerity before marines level 1 and from then on it's pretty even till end game.
Marines are only stronger end game if they can get exos and support quickly, meaning they have a load of res towers and this is pretty unlikely position to be in, unless they're already on their way to winning.
Aliens may be more powerful when rushing at the very start and pretty resistant to rushes in the first few minutes but after that they are little-to-no more powerful than marines from start to end.
NS2 depends pretty much completely on player skill and this is what make games end early and also what causes people to quit if the game drags on - they know that the game will just drag on and on because the teams are relatively matched, not one team being overpowered in any way.
If the game is past ~35 minutes you're gonna loose as aliens 90% of the time assuming the teams are pretty even. The only thing you can do at this point is to make onos/gorge group and pray the onoses don't die.
been trying to get enough money for this game but I can't find any work.
fuck
I don't think it's that balanced. The longer the game takes the more changes the marines have. Aliens must win before the late-game starts or they are in deep shit. That's not balance.
???
if anything marines have the better early game and aliens have the better late game. don't know where you're getting your info.

??? A guy said in this thread
Assymetric warfare, aliens gotta take out the marines before they get foothold.
I don't see how that's not balanced tbh. Marines take longer to build up, but they're worth it, aliens don't need too much buildup but they're better than marines early game so if they manage to rush in on their base immideately they'll win.
And is getting agrees. Now I said the same and you said I'm wrong and you're getting agrees. Even by the same people. You guys might wanna establish one story.
And I'm getting info from the games I've played. If it's past 35 minutes and marines weren't idle and didn't let aliens do what they want, they will probably win. I can't say the same about aliens.
I think marines have the potential early game advantage but bad commanders negate any they have.
Late game feels somewhat towards aliens though.

you're saying aliens lose late game. that's not what i'm saying.

Read my last post again.
A guy in this thread said "Marines take longer to build up, but they're worth it, aliens don't need too much buildup but they're better than marines early game so if they manage to rush in on their base immideately they'll win." and "Assymetric warfare, aliens gotta take out the marines before they get foothold." which pretty much means "aliens are better in early game and marines are better at late game" and he's getting agrees. Then I said the same and I'm getting dumbs and you said that I'm wrong which means that guy earlier was wrong too and now you're getting agrees, even by the same people.
no, you said it was bad that aliens were x and marines were y
ns2 is balanced shut up

in other news I fucking love lerks
no, you said it was bad that aliens were x and marines were y
What? I never said it's bad that they are different. I said it's bad that chances of winning are different in time for each race. I'm all for not having counterparts, that's great. But it doesn't mean both teams can't have equal chance of winning at 5min mark, 10, 20, 30 and so on. If if you make it so "team x better win before y time passes or z team will have upper hand" the game becomes predictable. Especially if that time passes.
I really want this game but I only have 13 dollars. :( If anyone wants to help a nigguh out I can totally give you a copy of Chivalry: MW and Civ V for a copy.
Add me on Steam, I still have my free copy. I'll take Chivalry. :)
I love you so.
Pretty sure this has been posted, but I want to stress how significant the performance increase is. Its nearly silky smooth all the time for me now. AMD users only. My game seems to lock up but allow me to alt tab and kill the .exe. I did this tweak a while ago and never actually used it, but I saw it and bam, Onos running in wrecking and it was weird to see it run so smooth.
Start NS2 with high priority - source
Open notepath, put in below line:
Start /high NS2.exe
Save it as "NS2.bat" next to the NS2.exe file in your steam folder, default location: C:\program files x86\Steam\<accountname>\common files\Natural Selection 2\
Make sure Steam is running and then run the NS2.bat file.
I sent a shortcut to my desktop for convenience.

exactly NS2 is not like this

From what I've seen, if the game is past 35 minutes aliens will loose.
And you guys should establish one position on this

It can't be balanced in time, marines having better early game and aliens having better early game at the same time.
If aliens are careless and let marines build up exos, they'll get pretty much slaughtered.
[editline]25th November 2012[/editline]
I haven't played much post launch though, so might be something with that.

Yeah but you know it goes both ways. If marines let aliens do what they want they'll loose too.
I'm talking about a pretty even match that takes a long time and then after 30 minutes the marines will start getting the upper hand. At least that happened in almost every game I've played that took longer than 30 minutes.
My friend and I managed to win as marines on lava falls all because just the two of us kept pushing the double resource nodes causing most of their team to focus on defending it. The enemy commander wasted around 70 resources building structures and the aliens lost around 3 gorges and a boat load of skults.
Imo marines have the highest chance to win early game. Especially on maps with only 4 tech points.
If aliens have 3 hives, rines will have it tough
Come payday and i shall buy this game :D

You've clearly never played the games I've played. Each team can be good at any time interval. Both sides are fully capable of breaking a stalemate. It just takes a team that knows what they're doing.

Any particular reason that is AMD only?
One of the devs have been working on a gorge race mod

I don't actually know why, I read it as a recommended config to help AMD users on the Unknown Worlds forums. Worth a shot if you're running Intel I guess!
Onos Surf maps anyone?
I got in one of Hughs NS2HD videos this weekend, the video just got up :o
(I'm -Mike-)

We just played against some marines who managed to hold their base for the last 20 minutes.
20 minutes of oni going in and out
Marines kept on shooting and shooting
Rebuilding power
20 minutes trying to attack their last base in Flight Control
Most. awesome. 20 minutes. NS2 gameplay. EVER.
Uploading vid of last 3 minutes :v: (Should've started recording earlier...)
