if you want to get good at playing alien then watch some of the tutorials of playing a skulk
Just remember you are a wall climbing ass biting ninja
Had a 1 hour long game where I commanded a team full of rookies, they kept asking me questions about how aliens work and I kept guiding every single one of them answering all their question and telling them what I wanted them to do, and most surprising of it all: they actually kept listening and doing what I told them, and reacting faster than most people I have to put up with, was awesome. The downside is that I'll never get to command a team that listens so much.
While playing Aliens pretend you're playing "floor is lava" basically.
While playing Aliens pretend you're playing "floor is lava" basically.
No it's "Hold down space key and LMB when you get close to marines"
This may have been answered, but how do you get out of the exosuits? I can't find a way.
As far as I know you don't.
This may have been answered, but how do you get out of the exosuits? I can't find a way.
Don't think you can, which is why I never like going Exo, i'm terrible.
Just bought this game and I have no idea what I'm doing.
This may have been answered, but how do you get out of the exosuits? I can't find a way.
I think eventually they'll allow this but for the moment it's not possible. So if your entire team goes exos and some alien snaps your power node at your main. You're toast.

You're toast.
It becomes a race to kill the hive(s) before they kill your command centers. I did this once actually, I told all my marines to not buy anything beside welders and save for dual miniguns, I sent macs to follow them, kept 2 in base with myself jumping out of command chair, next thing I know there's 4 onos tearing the 3 layers of armories I placed to save as much time as possible until they murder me and the entirety of out bases. We ended up winning and I ended up never wanted to witness any of shit again, it's like, scary.
I know this is a pretty big favor to ask, but i'd really like this game but I won't have money until Christmas. So, I thought I might as well try and save some money by asking someone to lend me some until Christmas comes around, where then i'd have money to pay for the game.
Is this game fairly active in the community? Like, are there a good number of moderately-populated servers? I just don't want to end up with another Section 8: Prejudice, and this game looks really good.

Just don't like, run the complete wrong way and be a retard. Ask where comm wants you and if you can't figure something out, ask
I really do not enjoy playing Marines at all, it's so much more fun to be an alien.
yep [editline]21st December 2012[/editline] no
I bought this during the sale, and I have to say, I think this might be my favorite multiplayer game. That and the fact that it has its own modding suite. :v:
I always find I end up in a server where 1 player is leagues ahead of the rest of the server, going 50 kills and 10 deaths while everyone else is barely pulling a positive KD of ~12 kills :v: Of course they play lerk and just get 1 kill and bail or spore everybody.
Are people usually willing to command? It doesn't look like something I'd want to do much.
I really do not enjoy playing Marines at all, it's so much more fun to be an alien.
Other way around for me, I don't find alien very fun at all but playing marine is a blast.
Are people usually willing to command? It doesn't look like something I'd want to do much.
In my experience everyone will ignore it for the first 30 seconds of a match and then one guy will unhappily take up the mantle. Usually they have a mic.
I really do not enjoy playing Marines at all, it's so much more fun to be an alien.
I never play as Marine, seeing as I can't shoot worth of shit with all weapons except the flamethrower. I actually regret not playing as Alien soon enough.
Holy crap this game is ridiculously fun but I'm getting mauled, especially when playing as the Aliens. The learning curve seems absurd.
Actually both are fine, I still prefer alien because going fast and harassing people as lerk owns. It depends on your commander. It seems like Aliens depend a little less, though.
I'm working on a marine and alien re-balance for their progression, and cant decide what I should change to speed up marine expansion. Mainly I cant decide if I should make buildings cost more/less, or if I should make them weaker/stronger, or if I should just make research cost less/more depending on research. I already slowed down Alien evolution, increased/decreased damage, buffed/debuffed/modified traits of things, examples being Ono's are stronger, slower, and cost more.
I really do not enjoy playing Marines at all, it's so much more fun to be an alien.
I was playing, the alien comm unlocked camo, I would go as onos and just stealth outside a high action door and beat the shit out of anyone coming through. It was a 5v5 match so not much action.
Seems to me like playing as aliens is taking the bullet as far as the game goes, Everyone will always rush to marines during the beginning of a match but the server can stall sometimes because there are two marines and one alien and NOBODY wants to be that alien, You can try being stealthy, Roaming in packs, Roaming stealthily in packs or even sending a ton of ono's at people but marines will beat all that because they've got GUNS. The marines can even be fun when you're getting stomped because at least they're built for defense, Can't do much but get shot when your base is cornered as an alien. That's my rant, Felt good being able to say this.

Just hang from the ceilings nearish to enemy activity and wait for one to pass you and sneak up behind em and bite em in the ass.
I just played alien commander for my first time and we miraculously won! I've gotta say, the community for this game is great. My teammates were so helpful and never got mad at me for messing up even though it was my first time.
Both off the teams are well balanced, if you are good as 1 team but suck on the other side, your playstyle for that team is awful and needs to change.
I'm buttmad. We had just been pushing back the aliens with our dual exosuits. One of our command centers on the other side was being stomped so I went over there to assist in my dual minigun exosuit when my game crashed. The guy with the torch supporting must have had a nasty surprise when I disappeared
