The win rate is slipping a bit in the aliens favour, but otherwise it's fairly balanced, I'd put your experience down to bad luck.
Although I think the skill ceiling for aliens is far higher than that of marines, for example, I just had a round of 70 kills to 8 deaths as a Fade, but I can't come close to that as marine.
Marines also seem to depend on their commander much more, the alien commander is somewhat passive.
Alien commander should act as hivemind and direct the flow of battle.

I do not understand game at all.
If I'm a marine I get basically instakilled by those aliens and I can shoot them all day and they never die.
If I'm an alien I can sit there biting them for twenty minutes and they never die, but I get practically instakilled.
So for some reason my mic is only sending out what I hear when I talk, in other words it's defaulted to stereo mix and I can't fix it, it's only in steam games, it works fine everywhere else. I've tried the whole launch option thing but it didn't work, does anyone have a fix?
Are there any mods in development for this game?
Or the SDK hasn't been released yet?
All the tools are available and they update them

Helluva lot of fun and everything is open to modding!
The SDK is located in the game directory in steam. It's what I've been messing with for a few days now.
I've made my alien team all sneaky. No glowing things all over their base. And having no powernode equals no lights at all now. Pitch black corridors. With aliens.
Not even the emergency lights that turn on after power has been cut will turn on anymore. The aliens all look more greenish and slimey like their infestation does.
Much harder to find them.
I also made an Apache gunship skin for the Exosuit. It seems to have gotten popular now too.
I wonder how many people played this for 5 mins and gave up, its not even hard, I watched a tutorial or 2 to get the jist then its really easy to adapt to.
I much prefer being on the field then commanding though

I was playing consecutive games with a bunch of new people and everyone was really helping them.
It was actually kind of nice

I'm hoping for a Alien vs Predator mod to be made in this game. That would be awesome
Or at least a motion tracker, it would fit so well. And would be a great lvl 3 upgrade to the rifle too.
It's a lot of fun getting a flamethrower and a jetpack and chasing down an onos who just tried to fuck your shit up. I prefer flamethrower and jetpack over an exosuit. I just wish the exosuit made more mechanical sounds

First round I've played in this game, and the commander on our team is very vocal, very helpful, and compliments us for taking initiative and doing well. I love it so far.

The community in this game is the [I]best[/I] I have ever seen in any game ever
I went 20 and 3 the other day (my KDR as a marine is usually poop) as a marine but we still lost.
This game is so much fun with friends though. The only thing that really really pisses me off about this game is the lobby. You can see the fucking team stackers and because all the stackers see each other none of them are willing to move. With a "pick a team" menu like most games have you don't get this bullshittery.
Also since I got this game forever ago and paid $40 I'm the only black marine I've seen.

I love this game all the aesthetics, the audio, and the gameplay are all great to me, being onos is my favorite.
Lerker kicks tons of ass. Flying around like a bat out of hell giving out venomous bites in the early game to help out teammates or finish them off with spikes, and then holding marines back with liberal applications of spore clouds when you get them.
Lerk is also dangerously... well, dangerous, to exos.
It's frightening how much damage one can do perched somewhere on the ceiling with silence.
Go into my first server labeled as a 'Rookie', start moving forward with the team throughout the game, never going by myself; always teaming up. Whole team assaults a secondary Hive and get it to really low health, but then we got counter-attacked by their entire team and I was the only one left alive, with no ammo, no health and just outside the door to the Hive. Ask the Commander for some ammo or health or nano-shield to rush and take the enemy Hive down as it only needs another magazine into it, and he replies "Why would I waste all my energy on a noob" as everyone in the server begins discussing why Rookie's need to "get their own playlist" and "learn the game first" and not "ask for everything that they don't know how to use".
Tried to take the Hive down with my pickaxe thing but it took too long and a warp drive dude came up behind me and sliced me up.
We lost that game, they pushed out to all our expansions and focus fired the Command Centers down with some flying dudes and fat slidey guys, and at the end the team blamed the "one rookie faggot who wouldn't attack" for losing them the game.
Fuck this game's community.
