I'm so sick of marine bunny hopping. Doesn't help this game lags like shit on any setting when you get like 2 or 3 exos going (even in alien-o-vision which doesn't draw much detail). Seriously would it be so game breaking to make it so marines can't jump while firing (unless they're jetpacking)? Also using robotics facilities to block doors :|
there is no bhopping in ns2.

Fine I used the wrong term. Jumping while firing.
k??? just because you can't hit a marine that's going at a snail's pace hopping up and down doesn't mean it needs to be removed you baby.
After playing more, yeah, you're right. It's mostly the "bringing the game to a screeching halt" type of deal that bores and frustrates the hell out of me. Defending the last hive against marines with late-game equipment for a straight hour becomes less of a match and more of a war of attrition. No pushing lines back and forth, just a whole hour of spawning as a Skulk, committing xenocide or some other kamikaze-ish attack, dying and then respawning.
That can be pretty tedious. I prefer to just run off and knock out some of their machines as a skulk. Likely a bit more effective than kamikazing into Exo suit chainguns endlessly. I just wish Alien commanders would focus on the damn camo for Skulks, lately they seem to get everything but that until maybe end-game. Skulks suck ass without the camo and it's tedious saving up for the Fade constantly. My first few games we had camo for Skulks right as our first upgrades and I was able to do some real damage being sneaky. I miss it.
camo gets countered by obs and scans
Many marine coms don't scan and so when marines push out of observatory range it is useful to have camo as skulk. Heck I love camo as onos.
do you play in rookie servers or something? [editline]30th December 2012[/editline] camo is very situational compared to silence.
Played a game earlier where the marines conquered the whole map in five minutes, then we went to the aliens hive and slaughtered them with welders, they were pretty bad :v:

Was pretty boring but the chat was a gold mine of anger.
camo is very situational compared to silence.
I'd say it's the opposite. When the marine com constantly scans and nullifies camo, silence won't do much good since you're a big red dot on their minimap either way.

If marines couldn't jump and fire in this game it'd honestly probably be enough to make me not even want to play anymore. And I play Aliens more often than Marines.
Is it just me or does the game perpetually lag? Everytime I'm playing Marines it feels like only half my shots actually register, even when I have latency under 100. I've read on the forums that there's apparently a 250ms delay for everything but that sounds like bullshit to me.

I hate it when there's a skulk with over 100 ping because then he starts blinking everywhere

I can't play NS2 right now since It'll give me either a disk read error or a missing executable error Whenever I try to launch NS2 I did verify the cache but it just updates the game to 100% and gives me the error again I ran CHKDSK and my Hard Drive is fine All my other Steam games work fine though anyone have a solution to this? (Yes I already reinstalled NS2 already but it still gives me the errors)
I love this game's atmosphere so much. Its great when you're walking down a hallway with a group of soldiers and suddenly the lights cut out and you have to use the flashlights while hearing all the scurrying. Feels like I'm in Alien.

Gives kind of a cool feeling of claustrophobia as you can visually see where your enemies' front-line has extended to.

I was gifted this game by a friend, and so far, I'm absolutely loving it. In the past 3 games I've played, my commanders have been really good, and players have been helping me out a lot. I half expected this to be a game where one side would constantly steamroll the other all the time, but I've been pleasantly surprised. Front lines are always being pushed back and forth, and I can never really tell what the outcome of a game is going to be until our base gets attacked by 3 Exos/Onos.

Anyone else feel like they took weapon training at the Imperial Stormtrooper academy the moment a skulk shows up? I always seem to have a hard time placing accurate shots when they get up close and so resort to simply spraying the whole area with my assault rifle. It's a good thing this game has no friendly fire or I'd probably kill more team mates than aliens.

On the other hand i can never bite a marine, Feels like they're always shooting me and i can never dodge. Funny how that works out.
I just can't get over how much fun flamethrower+jetpack is
So, in a single match I managed to destroy an enemy hive all by myself as well as chase down an Onos and kill it with just my assault rifle. Suffice it to say that my team was lucky to have me.
