Dxtory drags the fps down to 10 for me. If you have stuff like that running try turning it off

Nah, only run Dxtory when I have actively planned to record something. My running processes consist of Display fusion, Steam, and chrome, although I had that closed at the time. I always go out of my way to boost graphics with perfect performance in-game but I still have troubles with this game. Jsut tried reverting to old drivers, no use.
Just had a pretty easy game.
Playing Alien Commander, I told everyone to stay at the hive and I went Shade first. Quickly dropped a Shade and Veil to get camouflage. Told everyone to get camo and we walked as a group to their main base (with only one marine passing us) and took out their power node.
I then told everyone to wait for a few seconds to cloak again and wait for someone to come back. We waited for about 10-15 seconds and no one showed up. So we just took out the command chair and won.
I guess they said they never got a warning that we took out their power node.
A tip when placing sentries is to place them in a triangle, facing towards the sentry battery.
Some guy taught me this and many, many other things for marine comm'ing.
Now after 1 or 2 rounds my team tells other ppl to gtfo the comm chair so i can comm.
That's a pretty awesome strategy, I'd like to see it used in a tournament. Although if it failed the match would be pretty much lost.
The only thing you have to worry about is if they go early observatory.
I'll have to try it in a larger game, as that one was only a 5vs5.
The bigger problem I see with trying it out would be getting everyone to cooperate. And we I did it on Veil where the command chair is always in the same spot. So it probably wouldn't be as easy on a map that has random start locations.
Didn't think about that. Probably wouldn't work in a "pro-game" then, they always rush for PG.
I don't think it would be too much of a problem.
You can get a Shade and Veil going in under a minute, and have the camo upgrade super fast. Getting to the base is the easy part. You just have to play it by ear when you get outside of their main base.
I mean, once your entire team is outside of the base, there would probably be only a couple of marines inside building stuff. Taking them out would be easy.

An organized team would warn each other though.

Organized or not. A coordinated team of early camo skulks could take down a command chair in a heart beat.
Just kill the Obs or Power first, then go for the command chair.
Or you could do what we did and kill the power, cloak, and wait for them to come back.

A coordinated marine team would be back before that. If not it would most likely just turn into a base race which the marines would most likely win since the commander could just drop a second cc. Even if the alien team manages to take the CC down they'll be boned for the rest of the game despite that early res hit for the marines. Early camo is godawful against a good marine team.
I would enjoy playing Marines much more if they weren't so retardedly slow. Sprinting does nothing either.
You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that. All my friends think I'm crazy when I say sprinting doesn't make you move any faster.
sprinting does make you move faster, just get somebody to run alongside you and one of you sprint. it's noticeably faster.
If you get the power down, they are dead. Just keep attacking, it will take to long to repair and they can't respawn.
You're both assuming that all of the marines are really far away from the base. Even if that was the case a second CC is really cheap, the commander can still do his stuff even if the power is down. Also skulks that are attacking buildings are really easy to kill.

Sprinting is some sort of AOE speed buff?
I'm torn between thinking "That's pretty cool, encourages staying with your teammates and you got extra firepower to boot!" and "That's fucking retarded! What, do they need each other's encouragement to move faster than 3 miles per hour?"
no? i'm saying if one of the players sprint it's noticeably faster in that that person is running faster.
where the fuck did i say it was an aoe buff?
Sorry, there was a bit of a misunderstanding going on, I thought that you meant sprinting near other people would make them run faster along with you or something.

Why are people having problems with it ? Press shift as marine, run faster.
If you drop all your weapons and sprint, you'll run even faster.
the perfect tactic
It's pretty much impossible to have sentries cover eachother, unless you have something else to block the areas behind sentries.

Try making an actual triangle with the sentries facing inward..
This is not a triangle.

You're not making sense.
This is the most optimal positioning IMO.

Of all seriousness, the battery needs to be in a safe position, if you think about distant attacks.
sentries are generally useless, much moreso if the gayliens have a steady gorge with bilebomb anyway. even alone a gorge can take out a sentry nest in about five seconds
Anyone know why I can barely reach 35fps lowest settings on this game. It's so much fun, and I'm no graphics whore, but any fire fight and I'm dragging along at 20 sometimes
^ not best idea, nor what I actually meant.
I have tried disabling anti-virus, steam overlay, tried re-install, repair, drivers, and finally GOOGLE :O
Particle effects and AA, texture streaming turned on helps too

Hell yes.
I mean, hell yes to the railgun, they are probably joking about the rocket fist.

Before I actually saw at what it was, it looked like an escape pod. THAT would be awesome.
[editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
Could be used as a launch pod, launching yourself behind enemy lines.

I'm not sure what kind of enemy line we're talking about, if anything you'd pass over a bunch of clogs you could jump above anyways only to bump the wall 2 yards behind said clogs :v:
At best you'd use it to jump off and suicide in Docking.
I want a flamethrower/minigun mech.
I'd be just happy if you could exit out of the exo suit to either repair it, give it to someone else or just help repairing the base.
It could be balanced by having a delay before exiting so you can't just eject before it dies.
You'd need to do it in a safe place, and if you leave it unattended the aliens can still destroy it.
