There usually is atleast 2- 7 full servers, depends what time it is. NS2 has a small but strong community.
Just got myself the game, then. I got my money and I have promptly spent it all on bills and this one game :v: I hope to join you guys soon.
The stream as begun at http://www.twitch.tv/naturalselection2! They'll also be giving out 8 keys so if you want NS2 but don't have it you should join the stream.
I have such bad performance in this. It's unsteady, max FPS is around 60 but in some areas and pretty much always in combat it goes down to below 20 making it impossible to fight. Doesn't help lowering the quality. I've got 4GB ram, a GTX 560ti card and a quadcore 2.8ghz processor. Is anybody else experiencing performance issues? [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] I bought myself into the Beta a long time ago, close to a year if I recall correctly and it wasn't as bad then.

The devs have said that at the moment they are optimizing as much as they can but are prioritizing other things so that they're not optimizing things that may later be changed.

Guess I'll have to wait and hope some version in the future may work, perhaps I'll have to wait till release, cause atm it's kinda unplayable but oh well.
It has a lag spike every few minutes or so, but for the most part it runs nice. The framerate isn't as high as I'd like it, but it's still playable.
I got the beta back at build 134. If your wondering the internal version is feature complete and there are 2 (maybe 3 including veil) new maps in the internal, I asked hugh id it was biodome/veil/refinery but his lips are sealed

Atleast the ladder.
The hitboxes are completely broken what the hell
The hitboxes are completely broken what the hell
It's probably just the ping messing with you, it's very noticable in NS2.
Try hitting those flying things mid-air, I dare you. Not freaking possible.
Total biscuit is uploading some NS2 gameplay, sales are up 800%
My #1 complaint about balance issues right now is this: Skulks have 70 health. Lerks have 125 health. That's just painfully unfair. Those damn things get to fly around the room at high speeds, making them hard to hit, and then they can also have a ranged attack. They are stupidly hard to kill, and they definitely shouldn't have more, or much more, health than Skulks. The fact that they can fly is enough of an upgrade, no need to give them more health. Well this is a shitty page king. Er, anyone else excited for when Exoskeletons get added for Marines?
I'm not, jetpacks are annoying enough as they are
this patch sure fucks marines over
Total Biscuit covers NS2! Marines Aliens
Game keeps crashing since the last patch
i keep installing this game regularly to check and see how it's coming along but it's always unoptimized as fuck and even more unbalanced marines do not stand any chance at all, full stop, end of story.
This game is awesome, both sides are OP in their own way, but yaknow, it's beta it'll get fixed.

You've clearly never seen an ARC train roll into a hive.
a group of marines can pretty much melt any alien force so i dont know what you're talking about
One fade with adrenaline can fuck up an entire marine team if not focused down. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] An Onos isn't as strong as a Fade, IMO. The Fades are just way too fast, small, and beefy.
Middle of match. Commander bails. 2 minutes go by -COMMANDER NEEDED- "Guys? Commander? Anyone?" 'how do u become commander' "GG"
I just bought it, and I'm having some performance issues. Is there anything I can do (except lowering settings) to make this better?
Overclock your CPU. I'm serious. NS2's performance in its unoptimized state is very CPU-based. Also turn off Anti-aliasing, and as a general tip - download menumod. It makes the game menu 1000000000000x better and adds auto-join and multiple keybinds, among other things. Saw the TB footage, got me excited and I updated it and played some matches. When you get good teams playing, this game is damn rewarding. It's too bad NS1 is basically dead (or CO only) because I really want to play that again. Also I hope they show off Exosuits in one of the next builds. It'll certainly make late-game tech more exciting (and more one-sided until they properly balance it of course, but still exciting).
I mainly don't play this because of how there's always this single dude on each team killing everyone. When i play marine, hitting a moving alien is nigh impossible, let alone evade it's bites, jumping never works for me. Using a shotgun? Ha, like those little fuckers will stand still for you. Yet, when i go aliens, marines seem to fly on every jump, while maintaining a steady aim at your head at all times. Shotgunner? Ha, like he'll let you get less than 5 meters away from him with out blowing you up in a single shot, even if you're mid air, from a jump from the ceiling. I don't bother playing at cellphone resolution, with everything on low and still struggling for 20 fps, but i suck too much, i'll just wait the game to get more popular so there will be more scrubs like me :v: [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] Also about exosuits, they always remind me of the first time i ever played NS: "oh god what is this? Where is everyone going? Holy shit i'm a robot"

You just got to play more until you become better, there's no special recipe. If you want to get a hold of the alien side and work out the map, play gorge for a while. You'll be useful for your team and you people won't expect you to save the day - you'll be supportive. If you're marine, making sure you have a working microphone is a must. If your commander doesn't have one, you're already at a bad start. When you have a communicative commander, games are a lot more easier and fun. The sides aren't OP, the alien side is just overall easier to play, because even with minimal teamwork, you still can have a single lurk destroy the main base battery and destroy the marine team. If you get a working marine team that communicates, the aliens are going to have a hell of a lot of problems. That's what I personally recommend. I played it for a while, but it's been a bit since I returned to it. Just gotta be careful about Lurk rush at the start of the match. (Back then, there was no infantry portal at the start of the game :v:)
How populated are the servers?
