How populated are the servers?
There's about an average of 64 players on at any given time, so about 4 servers worth. The problem being, the servers were always filled. After TB's video it's more like four/five times that. It's ridiculous. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline]
http://hypernovadesign.co.uk/nanogrid/
Nearly 300 players? Wow.
Does facepunch have its own server up? Is it populated?
No, and no.
I always try to play in a pub where people are communicating with their team or try to find games that do it. When I started playing the game I kind of just ran around shooting things, but this game isn't for that. Once I started communicating with my team and helping people out you find there's a lot of people who are willing to do the same, and the battles become much more engaging and easier to play and enjoy. If you really are getting that low FPS I would wait until the optimizations come in to play (they should come soon, because it's nearing release). The lowest I've gone FPS-wise is 30 FPS and I can hit all aliens but a good Lerk player just fine (the lerk is designed to be hard to hit and require teamwork to take down, which is why it has more of a back seat "support" role as well)
Fucking overpowered, piece of shit, fuckbag Fade's are completely fucking unstoppable after a certain point in the game. Getting two shot by Skulks sucks shit too because that it going to happen all game.
Is this game worth a buy?
I love seeing new people rage over game balance.
Welp, bought the game now... It was definitely worth the price.
Goddamn, fades are more powerful than I remembered. Sure it was lategame, but I had armour level 3 and weapon level 3, yet they seem to shrug off a whole assault mag in addition to three axe hits, only to twoshot me.
I love seeing new people rage over game balance.
well aliens are OP
I love seeing new people rage over game balance.
Aliens are pretty damn strong at this point, so it is quite unbalanced.
Marines were screwed in the last patch and now they even made it worse GG...
I think the idea is to get marines to work together Considering fades and other aliens were even more powerful in NS1...yeah. You aren't supposed to go alone as marine unless you have absolutely no choice/level 3 weapons and a shotgun. And besides, once the exo's in I'm sure marines will be the ones who are OP. I mean, dual wielding miniguns and flamethrowers on a giant robotic suit like a power loader? I'm sure that's gotta be a little imba.
Game Balance is fine, the only problem right now is the lack of exos, the terrible performance and hit detection. They shouldn't even care tweaking little things like that until this has been fixed.

Travel in team is your best bet to survival.
Well, I had a real fun losing match as Marines earlier today. We chewed through at least five Onos' (Oni?) and fades and stuff until the aliens could finally wreck the base. It was like a movie.
Yay, first game as commander was a victory and that'll be the last time I play commander. Unless the team is desperate.
Heres hoping for Exo in the next build.
Aliens are pretty damn strong at this point, so it is quite unbalanced.
In fairness, he did say 'new people.' As everyone else has already known this for months and months and months and months... and the devs have responded to it, for months and months and months..
The most frustrating thing right now imo is the terrible hit detection and the performance. A skulk goes down with 10 hits, but that never happens because of the netcode, and also it is insanely annoying that your fps drasticly drops in lategame or in big engagements. I run on gtx580 and an i7 900 at 3.2ghz, i shouldn't drop under 20 fps. I just can't see them releasing this in 2 month or it will be RO2 all over again. /rant

And I almost never get any low framerate in the game. The only time I did was when there was gas all over the air and grenades flying by like no tomorrow; even then it still was perfectly playable.
They've actually optimized it quite a bit. It seems like the only time I get unplayable performance is if I join a bad server anyway (your performance seems tied into how well the hosting computer handles stuff) And hitboxes are fine, no idea what you're talking about. It's not hard to kill a skulk at all, unless he is really good at dodging, in which case that's not the game's fault.
Fades are an endgame evolution, no shit they're gonna be tough. Travel in team is your best bet to survival.
I've seen them far too soon into the game then. I've also seen five marines not be able to stop a single Fade. It's ridiculous. They have way too much energy and can teleport endlessly. I remember we were losing a game and a Fade was endlessly teleporting in circles above our base. They were doing this for at least five min while we lost.
Fades are fairly easy to take down with shotguns, they also nerfed their hp to 250. 2 SG marines are enough usually
I love seeing new people rage over game balance.
I have been playing since ns1 and I think fade is a little too powerfull for his cost in ns2.

I'd wait a bit, there's so many new players right now that it's going to be downright hell to get anything done.

3ghz p4 single core 1gb ram ddr1 :( x1600 ati radeon agp. can i play this?
Played a pretty heavy stalemate earlier. Level 3 weapons cut through fades like butter
