On DayzCommander there are two downloads for Taviana. Are they the same thing? One of them goes to 2.0 and the other 1.5.0.

He got an hour ban for ruining an event. It was always part of my vision for this server to have factions and events, but we can't have them if we play Deathmatch Taviana all the time for no reason.
Deal with it. I'm the one that pays the dues and I felt it was appropriate. I'd like to have some really interesting things happen on this server like trade unions, faction wars and so on but it's not going to happen if some asshole goes around gunning everyone down for [i]no reason or gain but to be a jerk[/i].
It's the same reason that if you intentionally drive cars into the ocean all the time, just so people can't have them that you're going to get banned. You're detracting from the server and it's not fun. DayZ is about killing, yeah but it's also about human interaction.
If all you wanted to do was shoot each other and be dicks we can all go play Counter-Strike. There is more to DayZ than that. If you disagree, don't play the server.

But he's a jumped up pissy admin who owns the server and can do what he wants, which is to make DayZ fun for more people. What's wrong with that?

I was doing something nice, I was giving away all the guns from my camp because I was getting raided and I rather give them to new players than having some end-tier guy take them all for themself. No good deed goes unpunished though, but I felt it'd be cool to open a little gun-shop.
I don't give a shit about dying, I only banned him because he ruined an event. [i]I would have literally gave him the truck full of guns[/i] we were about to leave and we were looking to give the next guy who came by the entire truck.
Did you tell anyone that pvp was going to be temporarily disabled?
If anyone wants to play on a good Namalsk server just PM me for the IP. It's technically pvp focused but most people just tend to gather shit and make bases. So far we have a few regulars but we would like to see some more players on it, and then at some point we'll add a whitelist once we get enough regulars on the server. There's also no drama on the server, anything goes. (Other than hacking)
We have much planned so nothing is set in stone other than of course your character.

1. It was an event.
2. He clearly warned people not to try to ruin it.
3. He was giving away weapons, for free, nobody had to go there and shoot everything just to get the loot, they just had to show up and get it, for free, no strings attached.
Provided that he did all of that, he was in his right to ban the guy who decided it would be a good idea to go there and ruin it.
Maybe a clear warning saying if you ruin the event you will get banned would have avoided this drama.

Well, there is no way to temporarily disable PvP, I took a look and aside the guys running the event there were only like five other people online. I communicated with all of them and they all knew. Stupideye ignored me in side-chat so I thought he was afk but I saw him a few times getting closer, he just never answered me.
This is a learning experience though, now I know I have to be absolutely clear that fucking with an event is an offense. I don't even like using the word ban, because it implies he's never coming back. It was like an hour time-out. I didn't go out and seek revenge or anything either, I didn't care that I died, just that the event was fucked. I wasn't the only one that died either, he killed like three of us.
Now can we drop this so we can talk about DayZ and not do this back and forth of defending and attacking this little fiasco?
I wish the server had night time enabled, I want the immersion.
So me and two other friends were being a "Robin Hood" squad, having hero skins and helping bambis whilst taking out people hoarding vehicles and choppers, and just generally being assholes.
We saw a chopper flying overhead and since only one group had all of the choppers on the server, we decided to take a few shots, and it started to go down.
We found the chopper a little while away from us in the middle of a field, there was no one in it or around it, so we sent in a man to scout it out, and since it was awfully suspicious for the chopper to be there with no one guarding it, our ghille man had to crawl the whole way there. Took about 4 minutes.
Our man arrived and checked it out, the chopper was fine, so he promptly beckoned us over and started the rotors, when shots started to ring out behind us from the treeline that we were hiding in ourselves. We told the pilot to get the hell out of the area and hide the chopper in a safe place, whilst we gave covering fire to the now identified bandit skinned men and took out 2 of the 3 men, and the third combat logged. We took what was needed from the corpses and hid the bodies, then met up with our pilot.
tl;dr: We killed some bandit vehicle hoarders and took their chopper. Felt good man.
Would you guys be okay with a hard server restart? Hackers have done their number over the past few days and certain things are missed up so. I figured I'd gauge how receptive you guys are to that.

Yeah what's with every private hive ever being day-only now? Night time is not only WAY easier to loot in, but zombies are almost a nonexistant problem if you know how to be quiet and deal with their AI.

I'd also remove name tags when you look in someones direction.

honestly i think the events you set up are pretty cool ideas
but i also think you should be realistic and bring enough firepower to defend your events, like how dayz is supposed to work, instead of just banning people who mess with them

I find nighttime to be easier for me, especially if I know the map well which by now we all do know it well. But yeah, four hour cycle would work for me as long as there is some night gameplay added in.
a four hour night cycle sounds pretty nice
