It seems the lower I put my settings, the more it lags
It's seriously frustrating that I can't play a good game without running around a town at 10 FPS

I have a weird ass FPS issue, I get really bad spikes inside towns and whenever these spikes occur my cpu usage drops to like 3%< I get 100~ in outdoor/small towns

afaik thats normal for Arma.
I played for my first time today, Walking around, Headed to the NW airfield, Find a tractor. Since the airfield was 5 KM away, I check out the tractor. Low gas and bad health on all the parts, Well who the fuck can tell me what to do? So I just stole it and hauled ass towards the airfield. Since the wheels were shitty I ran into a tree. Causing the tractor to catch fire.
I jumped out with like 2 drops of blood left, Bandaged myself. My screen looked as if I was watching a movie from the 20's while spinning around at circles while vibrating. I could not see jack shit. Then I just quit.

Yeah I just did some of the ARMA benchmarks and I average 50~ fps in heavy firefights even with JSRS and Blastcore. Day-z is just laggy as fuck.

I feel for you, I remember being stuck on a Phenom 9550 (OC'd to 2.4 lol) with a GTS 250 and DDR2 forever til i got my new MoBo/RAM/CPU. And i had downgraded to that from a Phenom II X4 955BE and a 5770 with DDR3 due to unfortunate circumstances IRL.

It was actually added, but any map besides Chernarus hasn't updated that patch.

Q6600 and a 6770.
I find mostly medium works best. Except in cities where I get 15-20 fps no matter what. This combined with Arma's general clunkyness makes me not play often.

Lowering settings could put strain on the CPU rather than the GPU.
Also Arma 2 runs fine, dayz doesn't because it's doing something the engine wasn't made for.
