Johnny, what are the odds of you taking the password off the Taviana server and making it joinable via the server list rather than the IP?
Done and Pandz also done
Is USPVT Chernarus even up? I can't find it in the browser.
You know FRANKIEonPC, the guy most of us here were pretty much convinced a while ago that he cheated to create his DayZ videos? Welp, apparently crime pays: he's gonna get an exclusive first look at the Standalone on his channel.
[editline]18th February 2013[/editline]
I wonder how he's gonna be able to still make videos that were as... Ahem... "Interesting" as his DayZ Mod videos if the standalone is gonna be much more secure and he won't be able to use any hacks or scripts.

He'll make multiple steam accounts and keep changing the names and profiles so when they do get vac'd no one will know.
Duh.
Went on a server that spawns hundreds of vehicles, it was hilarious.

You know what I think would be a cool thing to add in the final? a auto camper or Winnebago

My idea is, that they could hold up to 200 liters of gas, can seat up to 10-15 people.
You should be able to drive it, stop it, and then walk about inside it.
And since some rumors say that in the standalone, you need to care more about your character and be hygienic,
there is a toilet in it you can use.
You should be able to walk on top of it, since most auto campers and Winnebago's has a ladder.
Carry large amounts of items and weapons.
And if the standalone features it, be able to armor it and such.
What do you guys thing`?
Am I totally off about this or what?
The bus would already fill most of those requirements with some modification
But who said more wasn't better?
I suicide bombed two guys last night.
Found a satchel charge a barracks, and then heard makaroni shots, peeked out and they both started bandaging. So I ran up to them, told them I was friendly and had some loot for you, threw down the satchel charge and proceeded to yell "ARE YOU READY!?" a few times before blowing us all up.

So, within about an hour. I ran down from Cherno. Shot a dude near Blota, go inside Blota. Shoot another one. Run to Kamenka, find a truck. Give a dude a ride, he gets out at one point. I run him over. Go down the coast, see a dude running away from my truck. I haul ass over the hill, go flying through the air, land right behind him and run him over, he shoots at me before I crush him. Then I proceed, to drive into Elektro, (with my body sticking out of the roof.) Tire gets shot out. I jump out, kill the dude shooting at me. Run up a ladder and pop a dude who had killed my friend before getting taken out.
It was a good run.

This is a great idea, but it's almost not worth it to use in-game since the current system would have you leaving it somewhere for the hours at a time you aren't on the server. Perhaps it could have a unique trait that allows an owner to be assigned, and when the owner is offline it's not in the server? Otherwise it's just something to put a lot of work into that will get taken in a couple days.

I feel that's something that should be put for a lot of vehicles. But if you disconnect in the middle of the road, you shouldn't expect it to disappear for example.
If you disconnect in a forest and place the vehicle there as well, it should disappear with you. If you leave your vehicle in a forest and disconnect far away from it, it should stay even though you disconnect. If a lot of vehicles are placed next to each other as you disconnect, the vehicles won't disappear (to prevent people hoarding vehicles and basically having it impossible to steal).
If you leave the server and don't return for 48 hours, the vehicle would reappear to prevent it disappearing forever.

And then stories would sprout up, about people who would run around the map and get insta-killed by a car that wasn't even on the server.
welp, load into 200 day old public character, run to elektro and see guy in hero skin looting atv, shoot him 10 times with m107 and he teleports beside me and kills me.
Pardon my ignorance, I haven't played Day Z in forever (big fan of ArmA, Day Z gave me really bad impressions when I first played it months ago) but I have a question about the loot spawning mechanics. I've heard that loot spawning is clientside, does your time playing have any effect on which loot spawns? Every time I start off I never seem to happen across an AK74 or anything, it's always a side-by-side or a Henry. I realize that these are supposed to be extremely common, though, so do I just have bad luck then?

FUCK
It is still 1.7.4.4 though.
Whats the most popular dayz map now?
I've tried namalsk but my friend is over it and wants to play taviana, but I taviana kills my FPS near any forested areas.

well deserved
Wow, do you want to know what's bullshit?
The side windows of a Huey are fucking bulletproof unless you have an anti-material rifle.
If you ever try and hijack a heli, shoot them through the windscreen or it won't do shit. So angry.
Holy shit I was holed up in the firestation sniping at dudes in the middle of the biggest free-for-all I've ever found myself in at the North West Airfield when all of a sudden there's a blinding light and the biggest boom I've ever heard and suddenly everyone not inside a building is dead. There's also a massive fucking cloud of smoke swirling around the airfield and then all of a sudden the side-chat is flooded with 'wtf's and cries of players so enraged I could almost taste the tears shed. I managed to sneak out of the airfield and log out, didn't want to find myself in the centre of another explosion after all but goddamn that was both funny and extremely scary; thought there'd be another bomb drop as I was making my escape.
Nuke launching hackers though... that's certainly a new experience for me.

Funny, it was one of my first experiences in DayZ.
I hope the standalone adds more non-military weapons and focuses on them. It'd be neat if there were things like semi-automatic AR-15s or WASR-10s, and actual military M4s and AKMs were much rarer for example. It's kind of odd that post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe is full of shit like G36s and AS50s.
And more stuff that makes sense for the Eastern Europe setting, stuff like Mosin Nagants and sporter Saigas/Veprs.
Def needs mosins
I'm sure you guys get stupid questions like this all the time, but...
Are the zombies still super laggy, as in the game is near unbearable to play? Or have they fixed it to where it's smooth like an actual video game.
one of the cheapest, most common rifles isnt in the game, let alone that its a russian gun and is not in a russian setting.
