Got DayZ working whit dayzcommander went into a random server. Spawned whit my SAW and stuff i had from last summer. Died 1 minute later to someone. Such is life in DayZ
I havent really seen anything else out aside from that mobile game maps app that is also coming to Steam, but a while ago as a little project I started messing around with the Google maps API and I came up with a DayZ map where you can place + drag around markers with custom text which are saved to a database and loaded for anyone else looking.
I only just recently got working a system where you can put in a password to load a specific set of markers, effectively giving the ability to create your own private maps to use with friends.
Would there be any interest in this being released? It still needs a lot of polish but the framework is there:

Honestly tho, the quiver for crossbow bolts and slowing of zeds alone changes EVERYTHING.

I'll be glad that zombies can't randomly smash you from a 3 metre radius.
Hopefully no more getting hit in a moving vehicle so easily and getting punched in the face by a zombie with his back to you!

I wish they would add a bunch of small knifes or weapons like that and make it so you can press a button to drop your gun and pull it out for quick silent zombie killing.
We now have a machete so that will be cool.
Or do what mount and blade does and be able to press a button to turn your gun around and use it as a mele weapon to kill zeds on a one on once basis at the risk of damaging your gun and making it jam.
Well I hope they add that sort of thing to the stand alone.

I freaking loved that book. It's great and good material for a DayZ enthusiast.
So, I played with this guy this evening:

He stole the admins Apache, crashed it, blew up all the helicopters in his base and raided a good deal of his supplies. Then when he and several of his friends mounted up in a chopper to hunt him down he shot it down and slaughtered the survivors. Says he's putting a video of it up sometime soon.
In fairness though, when the dust settled the admin and his crew (save one) were pretty chill about it. No tantrums, no slayings or public lynchings, just a few 'well played's, some jokes, everybody had a good chuckle and the dude even gave him permission to use the admin/donator camp on the server.
So, the Steam version of DayZ isn't the latest, is it?
Is it possible for HIVE servers to mess with the spawn rate of loot at all?
Spent quite a lot of time on one particular server and most of the high chance areas drop little to nothing. The server also starts you with just a torch, bandage, painkillers and that's all.
Just wondering if the server is super hardcore or something, if that's even possible.
Sort of.
They can do one of 3 things:
1. Swap X out with Y
2. Edit Heli Loot
3. Force a custom content pack
