Is it possible for HIVE servers to mess with the spawn rate of loot at all? Spent quite a lot of time on one particular server and most of the high chance areas drop little to nothing. The server also starts you with just a torch, bandage, painkillers and that's all. Just wondering if the server is super hardcore or something, if that's even possible.
Generally, all servers reset items on restart. Some servers allow items to spawn at empty zones when a player enters their radius. However, some servers disable the latter because without it you can't abuse the spawning mechanic for infinite loot.
The new version feels a lot more polished but it still has ways to go. I wish they would just replace the combat roll with with the running vault from I44.

It doesn't work half the time. I get stuck on knee high fences.
It doesn't work half the time. I get stuck on knee high fences.
You need to time it right to successfully jump over some obstacles

Player 1 enters radius of a building and becomes new 'controller' of loot spawns 2. Player 1 leaves the building and moves 50-75 metres away from it (Loot will never spawn if you are too close to a loot pile, or if there is loot already in the building) 3. Player 2 can now enter the building, pick every piece of loot up and drop all the trash outside, then sit in a corner and wait. 4. Provided all lootspawns are cleared, within 5 or so minutes a fresh batch will spawn in the building again. Alternatively one person can do it just by clearing a building then waiting 50-75 meters away and moving back after 5 minutes to check.
I havent really seen anything else out aside from that mobile game maps app that is also coming to Steam, but a while ago as a little project I started messing around with the Google maps API and I came up with a DayZ map where you can place + drag around markers with custom text which are saved to a database and loaded for anyone else looking. I only just recently got working a system where you can put in a password to load a specific set of markers, effectively giving the ability to create your own private maps to use with friends. Would there be any interest in this being released? It still needs a lot of polish but the framework is there: [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/289v4[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/289xJ[/img_thumb]
I got a bunch of winners on this but are there any opinions or comments? Is it something worth working on and potentially turning into a good looking website? Either way I suggest voting for this on Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=103404475 I tried it out at iSeries and met the dev, it was only available on mobile devices at the time but its a nifty piece of software and would be handy.

I know it doesn't for HIVE servers because they have their own database but I can't remember if in regular DayZ regardless of server your character is persistant.

Private hives = own database, own mission, they can customize it how they like Official hive = central database for all, gear and position is persistent over all servers on the official hive. Servers are non-customizable and the owners get very limited access to the files. The extent of their power is pretty much banning people.
Is 1.7.6.1 the latest version? I just reinstalled ARMA 2 with DayZ, and I can't seem to join any servers at the moment.
Is 1.7.6.1 the latest version? I just reinstalled ARMA 2 with DayZ, and I can't seem to join any servers at the moment.
Are you installing through Steam? I'm not sure (haven't checked) but it might still be out of date. You're better off with DayZ Commander.
Is 1.7.6.1 the latest version? Yeah after a while I got it to work.
Hey guys is there anyway to fix my shitty framerate? It's a bit odd and not really what I would call a normal FPS problem: In single player my FPS is at 70+ but as soon as I join a server it drops to like 15-20 FPS. I have changed all sorts of settings down from the cfg files in documents to changing my vram settings in the menu. (To default) Has anyone else had this problem?
Anyone wanna play with me? I'm fairly new, would love to play with some other people.
I just found some razor and toilet paper. When did this get added ingame? [editline]26th February 2013[/editline] Also i get kicked for trying to eat foot on any server whit a script 20 or something.
What is up with the Machete I cannot find it anywhere. I have been walking around the map looking in all the barns and deer stands across the map all day and not found one. All hatchets. Considering the hatchet cuts wood for you what does the Machete offer other than killing as it seems to be way more rare than other mele weapons.
jesus christ I've had it with this glitchy piece of crap. Let me know when the standalone version is out, then maybe they'll have actually fixed the code to where zombies wont KILL YOU THROUGH WALLS
Well, so far servers have been meh. First server we found was pretty good but after having great luck in finding an SUV, large amounts of supplies and setting up a base camp, we sadly realise it was day time only and it kind of sucks. We then found another server, which had a day/night cycle BUT it seems the loot drop rate was rediculously low and didn't really make it feel enjoyable. Today we spent about 3 hours on what seemed like a perfect server, it got to about 6pm in game time and it went for a server restart (as normal every 6 hours). Sadly when it came back on it was midday. Yet another daytime only server. No where in the name was it mentioned it was day only. So fuck it, me and my friend have bought our own 12 slot private Hive server so we can get the settings we want. Only £12 a slot, not bad I think.
I have found that every server I have been on today has a crap drop rate. All the buildings have barely anything in them and mostly useless crap. I did find trail mix so that is cool. Still hunting for my machete I have not given up yet.
So anyone have info about the Battleeye Scipt 20 kicking?
anyone else having troubles with dayz commander?
So anyone have info about the Battleeye Scipt 20 kicking?
You get kicked for eating food [editline]26th February 2013[/editline] Or drinking
But is there a way to fix it?
How the hell do I get the Steam downloaded version of DayZ to connect to any servers?! It keeps telling me I have the incorrect version. I've set the properties to use the 1.7.6.1 (or whatever) beta patch, but it still doesn't work.
