spawn
scavenge in small town
after 5 minutes be narrowly avoiding a horde of ~40 zombies that all collect every time I run and jump around a corner
keep getting detected by those fucking hoppers while Im not moving and prone
keep runnning away and losing the horde
rinse repeat
scavenge 2 cans of pop, a revolver with 1 clip, 6 bandaids, and a hatchet
more hopping zombies detecting me from 2 blocks away while crawling
get fed up
sprint to edge of town
this is where I make my final stand
with revolver and hatchet kill entire horde as they crowd me
bleed to death in peace
You're using end game gear wrong then. In my opinion, the only reason to acquire end game gear is to go PVP in Cherno and Elektro when the servers population is 40+. Why? Because there's a challenge there, people desperately want your shit and you more so don't want to lose it. It makes for very intense encounters between people who attack you, and the feeling of relief once the gun fight is over is astounding. Because that gear doesn't represent some digital pixels, it represents an hour or two of effort of rather going back to your camp, raiding tents or going to the airfields.
Oppositely however you can just sit on a hill and snipe like a wanker, which has no challenge unless you're using a DMR (and even then maybe) and no real danger (unless you happen to be on the same hill as someone else doing the exact same thing). I've been in Cherno for the past three days with full survival gear, barricades and my trusty PP19, rather helping out newbies by giving them some basic gear (Full set of medical supplies, beans and water and a empty Makarov is the usual deal) then sending them off or dealing with snipers and bandits. To be honest, it's the most fun I've had in a long while with this game.
I get an as50 and a ghillie suit and I go snipe people in elektro. I usually get at least 40kills before I get popped. Fun times
I have so much negative humanity that I think I will never get out of it, to be honest humanity is a bullshit thing with all the model changing shit if they haven't repatched it yet(haven't played for about a month). It takes away the 'trust' mechanics, you will see people with negative humanity and just shoot them straight away. It's a terrible thing

1. Enter building.
2. Wait for zombies to follow.
3. Exit building.
4. Zombie Apocalypse survived. Congratulations.
this is the problem with all sandbox games, the eternal problem. dayz manages it better than a lot with the persistent servers and 'dead is dead' thing, as well as needing to eat and drink, but when you're kitted out and have a camp and shit, the lack of challenges tends to make things less interesting.
I agree with this 100%. What made me love DayZ was the feeling of loneliness and the challenge that survival used to be. Scavenging Winchester ammo and maybe only carrying a few extra rounds because you can't find any more was awesome, and always having to be aware of how much food/drink you had was great in the same way. Now, with food and drink being easily exploited into infinity and end-game gear being so easy to get just by wandering up North and stumbling across a chopper, the fun is gone. I still enjoy the game, but it just isn't the same game when you replace the occasional player encounter or small group that meets up via mumble with 5 ghillied guys with AS50s stalking around with nothing much to do.
our problem with dayz comes from us learning the ins and outs of how the game works, and how we can work around it
if we could just wipe our memories of everything dayz related, it would be fun again
I am new to dayz and I only have fun a little bit when im not bleeding to death from a zombie backhand
[editline]19th September 2012[/editline]
bleeding should stop on its own a lot sooner and more often than it stops on its own now.

I'd always thought it it would be cool to have a system where if you're bleeding and you stop moving for a minute or two you could start to coagulate (assuming you haven't been shot in the heart or something like that) and then as long as you took it slow you'd heal up a bit, whereas if you are starting to heal and then you full on sprint for five minutes getting chased again you'll start to injure yourself again and bleeding resumes and increases as you move/etc.
Yeah I spawned in USPVT with a Makarov SD aswell, awesome.
Plus, anyone who's ever given blood knows that after a moderate amount of sugar and a few hours tops, your body regenerates all the lost blood.
I was thinking earlier about DayZ and felt tempted to have a go at it again. I stopped playing about 1 1/2 months after CHKilroy made that video, since it had just degenerated into constant deathmatching. With all the shit I'm hearing about hackers and the current state of the game is it worth bothering again?
Avoid 'popular' servers like a plague.

I haven't ran into a hacker yet
and, to me it is worth it
but it depends if you liked the game in the first place i guess

I really enjoyed it when I first started playing because as I keep saying when DayZ is mentioned, you could run into anyone and they'd most likely co-operate. I had a group of 9 random guys I'd met either in Elektro or on the way from there to Cherno, working together to find vehicle parts. Later on, once the PvP damage system was fixed (It used to be that you could incap someone then pumping more rounds into them would do bugger all, you had to wait for them to wake up), I met up with a group of 3 on NW airfield, and after looting we grew to about 8, held Devil's Castle against a couple attacks. I then went on my own to find water and then got killed through 1 hit KO from a zombie. At that point I was three minutes from having survived 24h (gameplay time), and was crowned the first player to have done so.
Then there's this:

Later on we tried stashing the Hueys (We had 2 at that point), a server restart later and they were gone. Frustrating stuff like that really put me off the game.

In the latter days of playing it, I'd go to low population (<10) servers because imo, Chernarus is too small to have upwards of 40 people running about trying to kill each other when there are certain locations most people will go.

the 8 as50's were from somewhere else
Well after playing for a few hours today I now have an as50 back and other gear.
I don't know what to think about this.
Hot damn this some good footage

Can't join any fucking servers since the recent update. Tried reinstalling ARMA 2, OA and DayZ but it still doesn't work. Ideas?
I have a pretty cool story for you guys, (Both of these were not on USPVT, there were on public):
It all started when I was in the Elektro fire station, I had an AKM and a alice pack, I hear some guy, saying something I couldn't understand. So I thought he was outside, and he sounded like a fresh spawn, not really a big deal. Well I go down to the bottom, and there is a guy with a bandit mask and an MK48 Mod 0, I got scared and immediatly shot, he shot too. We both died, and I spawned in Kamenka, I then run to Balota and start looting the warehouse by the dock. I then get gunned down by an mk48 mod 0 again, and spawn in Cherno. All of the sudden, I guy appears with an Mk48 Mod 0 and says "Hey man, be nicer.", "You shouldn't just shoot on sight." I quickly type, "Oh man I'm so sorry, you scared me with the bandit mask." He than says that I can have his MK48 Mod 0, I say ok and take it.
I didn't know what to do, so I just ran into Cherno (I didn't have a backpack, wanted to find one.) and while I was running to the apartments, I hear a horn, I look around, and guess who's there. The hacker. In an S1023 van, he says "Get in, man." I didn't have anything else to do so I jumped in and he then he said, "Wanna see something cool?" I respond. "Sure." He teleports us to a barn, then he says "There's two guys in this barn, watch this." He jumps out of the car and looks at the barn, all of the sudden, the barn explodes into a huge ball of fire. It caved in, and sure enough Nicolai and Tim died. He then teleported to some other people who didn't want to get in the van so he ended up killing them, then he teleported to some hill above god knows where. He said he'd be right back and told me to stay with the van, five or ten minutes later, a sniper shot rings out, and I die. It was probably someone else, but I don't really care. That ended my story with my Hacker friend, who for some reason liked me more than everyone else.
I have another story, more hacker stuff:
I spawned in Cherno, and thought 'That's cool, maybe I won't get sniped' and ran into Cherno. I went into the grocery store and found an Alice Pack and some food, then headed for the fire station. I found an AKM, and started for the apartments across from the hospital. I get in one and all of the sudden, I hear another car then a message in direct chat appears, "BEN GET IN THE FUCKING CAR OR DIE", scared I say "Okay." and go outside to see some crazy fuck with a ghillie suit driving a bus. He then teleports to two other players, telling them the same thing, they're both fresh spawns, no weapons. All of the sudden we're in the debug plains, and the hacker says "GET THE FUCK OFF MY BUS." we all get out, he continues "TIME FOR THE FUCKING HUNGER GAMES BITCHES.", He continued, "WHOEVER WINS GETS LOOT AND A BUS." He then yells to the two fresh spawns without guns and yells "I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU WEAPONS." I then think, 'Fuck, he's going to give them hacked items, all I have is an AKM!' but, then he says "THE HACKS AREN'T WORKING." He turns to me, "KILL THEM MY MINION." I gun down the first one, and the second one runs into the bus and starts driving away. He was going too slow, poor bastard, I shot him out of the car and he died instantly.
The hacker yelled back at me, "GET THE FUCK IN THE BUS, WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?", I think 'My brothers group is in komarovo, I'll go there.' "Komarovo." I respond. All the sudden we're there, and he jumps out and spawns a medical box with every gun in the game, he then yells "5 MIN TO GET YOUR SHIT AND FUCK OFF." I grab rangefinders, NVGs, M4A1 CCO SD, PDWSD, plenty of ammo, ghillie suit, and other endgame loot. I decided that's enough and jump in the bus, he then says "YOU ARE WINRAR.", and yells. "GOODBYE NIGGER." I then drive the bus out of sight and log out. That ends my story of the hacker that made me play the Hunger Games, the reason I didn't take the bus is because I didn't really need it, and because its hard as fuck to hide. Anyway, that's about it.
Don't mind me. Just setting up a fire in the woods.

Honestly, I haven't played DayZ for a long time, started to get worse as time passed by (goal of survival meaningless, hackers, all that stuff). I might play some this weekend, provided I don't ragequit due to TPing hackers, dying as a newspawn by some guy with an AK running out of Cherno, or breaking my legs. Hopefully, I'll meet some friendly people, and in the most populated server I go to, I'll be a full-time, unarmed, 24/7 friendly with only medical supplies, to see if the DayZ players have changed a bit, or if the arseholes have fully conquered Chernaus.

I hope you find something fun to do, when I get bored, I just live in Chernogorsk, there's tons of action.
The only 3 friendlies I have ever met in dayz were somehow more clueless than me.
Emailed Battleye about my 'global ban' and I have had no response. I even read the T&Cs of the global ban appeal. Anyone else ever had contact (or not) with BE?
God, you guys don't shut up about hackers. I haven't come across a single instance of hacking since I started playing months ago

But "HACKER!" is the new "IT'S AN ALPHA!"
I killed a sniper and when I went on today i'm at full health and have a bandit skin, it took all my sweet loot.
why the fuck did it take my shit
