Had probably the funniest night playing DayZ tonight and have amassed 5 hours of footage to edit down into 10-15 minute videos, lots of bullshit to cut out but so much gold..
Utes is the best map for being a bandit scumbag. Ran around with a SAW and shot everyone I saw until I got blasted down by a DMR at the airport. Fun stuff.
Don't worry, though. I'm not a bandit scumbag on any other map. Just Utes - there's absolutely no reason to team up on Utes when all it has is an airport and two small towns.

I see Utes as 'Dayz Deathmatch mode'. Me and my friend both spawned within 100m of eachother and the second we got moving a guy starts raining gunfire and M203 on us so we have to sprint over to the airfield where we then get blasted down some more :v:
The R870 is the best weapon. I killed 6 people with it in Elektro.

Being a bandit doesn't make you a scumbag.
The only reason to get good gear is to kill players. You don't need assault rifles, machine guns or sniper rifles to kill zombies.
The zombies pose no threat whatsoever. The people who want to play it like a PVE game that constantly complain about bandits need to man up.
The game is just plain awful without player killing.

So I had to rollback about 10 more minutes since kids buy new CD-Keys just to hack on the server they got banned from and get banned for a second time.
Best game of DayZ I've ever played:
My friend and I were playing Panthera for the first time. He's a very big Facepuncher, but I'm not so much. Anyway, the server was hacked and one of the airfields had about 100 vehicles packed into it. The place was swarming with people looking for working vehicles as most were missing components. I found a UAZ in perfect condition with spare gear and drove off (good timing too, the bandits just started arriving).
We drove around looking for extra stuff for a little while. I had an AS50 I had picked off a dead body earlier with full ammo, and he had a revolver and a Winchester. We rolled into a valley for the sake of exploration and saw a heli crash on the side of a mountain. I parked the UAZ and we rushed up there to see if it had extra gear to grab. It was a tough and terrifying climb, but we found some medical gear. We almost died on the way back down, but we made it.
Just as we had gotten into the UAZ, we heard a helicopter's blades inching closer. I had to find level ground to shut the engine off on, and they flew past us without interruption. I was pretty sure they'd left us for good, but then they made another pass over the valley.
By this point, I had moved a bit, so they probably noticed us. They kept making passes every now and then and I frantically switched between 'FUCK DRIVE' and shutting off the engine, praying they wouldn't see us.
Then I heard the blades stop on the mountain. I slammed the gas and got out of there - not going to risk snipers. They pursued in the helicopter. I winded through roads - it was a crazy chase. Many of them parachuted out of the helicopter after us, as they had a relatively large crew and most of them were well-armed, but eventually we lost them and I parked our UAZ under a concrete overhang while we searched the building.
Once we had gotten out of the building, we were being swarmed by zombies. Just as we left in the UAZ to find more of Panthera to plunder, the helicopter flew overhead in search of us. It became another frantic chase, and eventually we had made the impulsive decision to stop and take shelter in a two-story building.
It was a luxury home, containing red carpets and fine wooden walls. Shit got serious very quickly, though. We took shelter up in the second story while they hopped out of the helicopter to conduct a search and destroy mission on us. Very quickly, my friend got sniped out through the window. I watched a couple of them take the UAZ through another porthole, and shot at them pointlessly with a Makarov. Now, I stayed away from the windows and hoped that I could shoot first.
Two approached the stairs. I had my AS-50 pointed at that particular place. Thankfully, one of them, the lesser-geared one, was looking the wrong way, and I shot him to death before he could get me. The other one, in a ghille suit, had an assault rifle and sprayed the room up. I ran around him in circles, holding on to the blood I had, as I had ran out of AS-50 ammo and needed to reload, but couldn't do so.
A few more seconds and he would've been out of ammo. I could've at least gotten him, possibly even lived, but I didn't. He prevailed, I was dead. I was just glad I had gotten one.
That firefight was the best DayZ experience I had ever had, oddly enough, even if I died. The sheer cinematic intensity of the situation was unbelievable. I complimented them for their effort on side chat and - get this - they picked me and my friend up from our new spawns and gave us our UAZ back.

Where are you getting these statistics? At any given time there are only a couple full servers and the rest are 10-15 players but the vast majority are sitting at 0/50 from the big 1mn player boom.
Recently died, so just after respawn I hauled ass to Cherno for some quick decent loot, guy with a Lee Enfield starts trying to shoot me, I only have a hatchet and revolver so didn't want to go toe to toe with the Lee Enfield... turns out I didn't need to..
He must of forgot the Enfield is loud as fuck because a pack of zombies were running up the hill towards him, I flanked him - he killed the three zombies and then I waited for him to start facing Cherno again then I sprung out from behind the tree, yelled 'SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER' over Direct communication and then I axed him in the back of the head and took his shit.
When I killed him I had : A revolver, 3 revolver ammo, a hatchet, the flashlight, the cans of pepsi and 1 bandage.

Thank god they were such a bad shot.
I feel like the standalone DayZ should have some other gamemodes.
Like having a faction wars mode or a mode where the players should strive for making a settlement somewhere.
At least one thing they should focus on should be communication between players.
Like having a few circular menus for emotes and some phrases and the alike..
Or just make you able to build more things, like deerstands and walls and (Maybe) houses.

Houses as in sheds, and you'd need to gather alot of materials like nails, and wood from the forests.
