It's been a couple of months since I bought ArmA2, and boy am I having a tough time settling into DayZ. I doubt I'm starting it up right, though this dumb SIX launcher whatever that is. I'm pretty much walking around aimlessly looking for anything and everything. Most places I go to I either get killed by a zombie, or a player. This game would be ten times more fun if I had someone else to play with, but I don't have any friends that play this, so I'm all on my own, which is a massive turnoff.
I guess the issue I'm having is that I can't find any fun in this game, only fustration and boredom. And when I DO find fun, I end up getting killed without me having a weapon to stand a chance. Is there any FP servers I can join that I can play with other FP'ers side by side? What about steam groups?
To all European DayZ players: We got a load of new servers up and running that you might be interested in. I'd prefer if we did not discuss these servers or their location here in this thread so we don't derail it. Either use our Steam Group (GHDayZ) or talk to me personally on Steam (sluggomc/Hoffa) or by PM.
If you need any assistance in-game you can talk to me directly.

There is USPVT, although its been under populated for awhile because of the DayZ hype passing. Filter for fpdayz.
Dogmachines just gave my friend Soduhjah a copy of ARMA 2 + OA, me him + his brother are gonna be touring USPVT. Thanks man!
Fuckin' love y'all
I can't seem to join any servers at the moment, says I've deleted dependant content chernarus or something :P

Launch as combined ops.
Oh my problem, as I have just realized, is I only have OA installed and not the original ARMA 2 which might be kinda handy :v:
download arma 2 free then copy addons from arma 2 free into the op arrowhead folder.
It's gonna look like shit but it will work.
So I just went on the FP server for a couple of hours. As soon as I joined I was verbally spat upon by another player because of my name, so at least I know what kind of playerbase I'm dealing with. I walked miles for ages, trying to get by, until I used the DayZ loot map to see where to go. I went to a castle and found a kickass winchester, then I went to a barn not too far away and found a sniper called a CZ something. But since there was only 7 players in the server I doubt it would get much use.
Then a zombie whacked me once, I fell down, and he kept eating me until I died. It didn't exactly add to my DayZ experience, but at least I found a good gun.

I have some spare gear on my character if you want it.
I barelly play DayZ anymore.
I was sat in my GAZ whilst my friend spoke to somebody in private, eating my dinner, then this guy comes along and starts popping rounds through the window after I'd been in steam overlay for like 10 minutes so I spazzed the fuck out and aborted because my fingers were covered in bacon grease.
Am I a bad person?
Who eats something like that while in dayz? O.o
Yeah you're supposed to eat canned beans stupid
Yeah you're supposed to eat canned beans stupid
That's what happens when you play in "Chernarus".
(You probably know what I'm talking about)

I think the vehicle spawn rate is a tad high :v:
Maybe I'll start playing again and rake in the vehicles.

You could team up with us and assemble a plethora of vehicles :v:

I'm plotting it out now.
You guys get friendly with me, eventually I find a time when you aren't on.
Then the vehicles disappear one day.
The perfect plan
I can't see how you guys manage to hoard vehicles like that.
I often play by myself, and when I do see a vehicle, I just leave it there because it'll probably end up getting me killed.
On that note, do you guys have a group or something?

Just me and my buddy, and his brother soon. We often take two vehicles at a time, we got the pickup truck and the ural there at first, he made a run for the V3S whilst my key was busy being stolen, then we got the GAZ and the SUV today. Unfortunately that GAZ got stolen by some guy whilst I was eating my fried dinner.

Since you are a newbie, here: http://dayzdb.com/map
Green- Basic Supplies
Red- Military Supplies
Everything else- food/drink/misc
If you aren't checking that map for your next destination every 5 minutes then you will get lost and starve to death in the woods, good luck.
Every Taviana server I join says my DayZ_Code is out of date but I'm on the newest versin 1.7.3 and it says the server is running 1.1.0 which is Tavianas build number, what gives? It only does it on that map I think the map might be confusing the Day-Z build with its own.
It isn't even worth it, Taviana isn't done yet. A whole island still has to be finished, which includes a nuclear power plant.
I didn't ask if it was worth it though, I asked how to make it work.

It was a comment not an answer.
Enjoy this wall of text.
Oh man. I think I just had the most exciting experience I've had in DayZ in a very, very long time.
I was playing DayZ Redux in a mostly empty server. I had just spawned in on a new character and was looting Elektro. When it all started, I had an AK-74U with two mags, four pieces of cooked meat, some bandages, and some painkillers.
I was on the roof of the hospital when I heard a helicopter flying in. I looked up and in a few seconds, I could see a little bird flying my way. Partly because I'm friendly and partly because there was no hiding from it, I lowered my rifle and stood in place on the roof, saluting as it flew by. It spotted me and circled for a minute before I saw someone jump out with a parachute. I wasn't sure if I could trust him or not, so I climbed up to the very top of the hospital and went prone.
The chopper kept circling for a while and I lost sight of the guy with the parachute. Because I was keeping my eye on the helicopter, I had no idea when he climbed up on the roof with me. However, he was still on the level below me so he still had no idea I was there. He laid prone for a while, giving me plenty of time to pop up and get a headshot if I so desired.
However, being the friendly guy that I am, I held my fire. After he didn't move for a while, I spoke up on direct chat, letting him know I was in the area. He didn't seem unfriendly... Necessarily. He did basically tell me he wanted to chloroform me (a feature in Redux, if you don't play.) During the chat, I learned his name was Brandon. I decided to stand up and reveal myself.
I crouched so that he could see me, keeping my AK lowered. He looked at me for a few seconds... And shot me in the face. He must have thought he killed me, because he didn't come up to finish the job. Instead, he gave me time to wake up, bandage, and eat the meat I had, bringing my blood up a little bit. While I was doing all of this, I saw another person parachuting in.
I think the helicopter must have seen me moving around because he came back, this time with a friend. His friend tried to act like he had killed Brandon, that he just so happened by the scene but I could see them both still down there, moving around together. I told them just that. I moved into cover, hiding behind an air conditioning unit on the roof, keeping my sights trained on the ladder, the only way up to me.
Now, Brandon started talking. Acting like he was friendly, that I just scared him, all this bullshit. For the most part, I just held my tongue. I knew he was buying time, just not what for. I learned when he started making threats again.
Someone with an M16 started shooting at me from the hills around the city. I was completely covered from where he was, but he still fired at me. Probably to make sure I couldn't disconnect thanks to the new anti combat logging system. But I held my ground. Finally, Brandon told me he had given up, that he was going to go play Black Ops II. He disconnected and told me I was free to go, and their helicopter flew away.
Except I wasn't falling for any of that this time. I checked the player list and sure enough, he was just sitting in the lobby and all of his clan mates were still in the server. I looked over my shoulder, scanning the hills... After a minute, I saw what had to be their sniper. Knowing that I didn't have to monitor the ladder for a little while, I turned around.
I kept watching the shape on the hill until there was no denying it. He started to crawl forward and I knew he was the sniper. I took a minute to think about my options... And I stood up, blindly firing ten rounds from my AK in the sniper's direction. I didn't want to risk taking the time to line up a perfect shot, so they went wide. But I made my point.
I dropped down again, still keeping my eyes on the sniper. He took shelter in some bushes and that was the last I could really see of him for a while... Until a few minutes later when he stood up and started crouch running back away from the city. I popped up again, taking more time to aim this time before I fired another burst of about five shots. Suddenly, there was another burst of M16 fire, this time from inside the city. I dropped back down, hearing the snaps over my head.
Again, I scanned the hills, the city... The original sniper had buzzed off, but the second one was nowhere to be seen... I checked the player list and saw that Brandon was back. I put another mag in my AK and told him I knew he was back. We exchanged a few cordial words about Black Ops II before he got back to business. He explained to me that Elektro was his city. That he was going to, "Enjoy your AK when you're dead." Again, I said nothing.
Suddenly, my character passed out from my blood being so low and in just a second, he was up the ladder, armed with the same AK-74U I had. My heart sank, I just knew it was all over. I woke up quickly enough, but he was already behind me. I decided not to fuck myself by trying to turn around.
I asked in as deadpan a voice as I could manage, "Is this how it ends?" His response, "Yep. Now how do I drag you, buddy..." He kneeled down and I realized what had happened. He thought he had chloroformed me, but he fucked up up. He crouched down, seeming to check out my inventory...
I spun around, spraying my AK. I unloaded at least half a mag into him, making sure he was dead. As I was shooting, "Bro! You just shot me while you were chloroformed," and to his clan buddies, "I think we've got a hacker..."
I responded, suddenly much more cheery, "Nope! Your chloroform just fucked up!" I put his AK in my backpack, just to delete the thing and took all his ammo with me, as well as his ACU pack (a step up from my patrol pack.) He also had a PDW and just about every basic tool I could need.
In all, the standoff lasted at least forty-five minutes, no exaggeration.
The one part that I feel kinda dirty about is that I disconnected as soon as my combat timer was up. I feel it was justified enough though, after Brandon tried to hide out in the lobby while I climbed down the ladder. Oh well, I feel pretty awesome.
I'm starting to get into DayZ a lot now. I figure I needed a goal or somewhere to reach, so I chose the north airfield. I've seen the place in lot's of DayZ videos, and I couldn't wait to finally get there. It literally took my ALL DAY to walk there, and also a couple of stops to find weapons and stuff. Throughout my journey all I fucking found were double-barreled shotguns, but I managed to get to a village just south of the airfield. I was in a supermarket looking for anything, then of course, some asshole with an assault rifle opens fire. I managed to unload two revolver rounds into him before he killed me. I think I might have actually killed him because he fell down as soon as I died, so maybe I got lucky and one of those rounds went into his stupid ass brain. If he survived, I hope he enjoyed looting my body with incredibly basic gear on it that took forever to find.
Well I just spent about 30 minutes travelling south in search of petty loot. I wish I still had my GAZ. I would've gone in search of the vehicles I posted earlier but only my friend knows where they are.
So I joined the server, and then when the loading was done, I insta died. So then I spawned in the debug zone. Ugh fuck.
