There is a specific server i keep joining which keeps telling me that i have been 'marked' for a global ban.
It says this nowhere else. Should i be worried?
Also, never hacked in my life. Been killed by hackers plenty of times though.

I'm new as well, I think your computer should be fine.
As for tips in getting started, I tried out boot camp in ARMA 2 first, just to get a hang of the controls. Once you get that all sorted, you should be good to get around in DayZ. If not, there's quite a few tutorials on youtube, like this one:

I miss playing with all the Facepunch guys on Chernarus' server. Hopefully DayZ's standalone will run better for all of my friends so I can get back into DayZ. Never really liked playing it by myself but no one else had a computer that could really even hope to run it, save for maybe one or two people.
I'm not sure what just happened.
I started out somewhere I don't remember, crawled through a city slowly. Found a crowbar.
On my way to the next city, I saw a tower up a hill. Decided to go up there. Found a tent, looked through it to find nothing.
I turn around and a guy in a full ghillie suit. He looks at me for a bit, and he drops a box in front of me (like the one that usually has medical supplies in it). He does a salute, and since I don't know how to do that, I just drop my crowbar. He doesn't display a name when I look at him, but he waves his gun at the box for a bit and then runs away. I look in the box and WHOA - every gun and item in the entire game.
I grab a weapon, because... well, why not? He comes back and looks at me for a bit. I grab some more things and then poof - both him and the box are gone.
What happened? :tinfoil:

Unlikely you'll get banned for it and if you do it'll be just a server ban handed out by the admin. You'll also be using a hacked weapon so if you feel like its unfair, don't use it. Otherwise use it. v:v:v

I found a little 4-wheel'd bike (Don't remember the name) in the middle of nowhere. I took it, drove for a bit and accidentally tipped it over at a hill. Got out, turned around and there he is. I stare at him for a few seconds and out of nowhere a pickup truck spawns.
He salutes me again and I tell him in the chat "You're a cool guy". And drive off.
I get to Cherno and the first thing I see is a giant boat stranded on land :v:

I did that to people, giving them free choppers and then seeing them crash a minute later because they cant fly for shit is always hilarious

I was doing just fine, driving through Cherno occasionally stopping to look for food. JUST a minute after reading your post I got out of the car, orient myself and prepare to shoot a zombie when from OUT OF NOWHERE a sniper kills me.

What weapons? There are weapons that don't spawn in Dayz, and some servers can ban you for having them.

M16A4 ACOG. Both before I died and after. Also an M9 now.
Both the M9 and M16A4 ACOG spawn in DayZ, so it's okay.
I haven't played this since something like early August, any major things I need to know before jumping back in?

So somebody had the great idea to try and shoot me out of my UAZ, by standing in the middle of the road.

I always get this great feeling whenever I make some sniper waste all of his ammo on me, the guy was swarmed by zombies with only an empty sniper rifle to defend himself with. He met his end.
Saw a guy, asked him if he was friendly on side chat, he didn't realise somehow that I can see him and lied that he didn't have a gun while holding some assault rifle.
He got a bullet to the head because of that. Fun stuff

you hit his left foot's big toe, arma 2 physics happened, and next thing you knew you were in a Thunderdome in another server

All I want is better performance, I don't want my framerate to commit seppuku everytime I set foot into a small town like Rogovo or something
