chernarus just because it's the only map i've ever really played
is it possible to modify a servers day/night cycle? i think having like 4 hours pitch black darkness would be a lot more fun on most servers.

also it's a nice map I rather enjoy it, boat travel is useful aswell.
Namalsk in my experience is more of a desperate struggle to survive, due to the fact weapons and ammo are more plentiful than food or medical supplies.
That might just be me though.
Panthera is fun to navigate.
i usually don't even live long enough on namalsk to struggle to survive
it's more like finding an ak-74 and then getting shot shortly afterwards
I found my first mountain dew, followed shortly by another from my friend's body (who died while we were being repeatedly assaulted in Namalsk). I brushed off the whispers of curses, and went on my way. Standing ontop of an apartment building on Vortuka, I get sniped by a gauss rifle. A hacker entered the server, and is sniping people. Moments later, thunderdome.
Mountain dew. Not even once.

humm really been inching to get back into this game, hows the community these days? Also do you guys congregate on one server or just play individually on different ones. I will have to stop by on mumble sometime, this game is so much more enjoyable playing with other people than being alone.

I just drove with my car packed full of awesome gear around. Then I lagged out of the server.
I rejoined, and it spawned me in the middle of the map, t'was like a 15 minutes walk.
To make sure it doesn't happen again, I wanted to rejoin so my position would be safed.
And It spawned be at the exact same spot as earlier, again, 15 minutes from my car. Fuck.
Also, Custom Hive servers are DayZ: Easy mode.
Playing on a Panthera server, and some guy starts shooting at me when im running across the mountain by the West Airfield.
I get down and take a few potshots to get him running, and i see him run off into the Control Tower. He quickly says "Whoever's shooting at me in West Airfield has terrible aim" and then suddenly all of the zombies around him disapear.
I stick around to wait for a friend and i see some zombies running, so i have a quick look and see him running off. With a single shot, at a few hundred metres with no rangefinder or any idea how far away he is, he dies.
Just before he ragequit, i say "Who's a bad shot now?"
Is it possible to quickly exit the game when killed? I just sniped someone who ran by with an AS50 and his body disappeared when it said he died.
Still haven't figured out why I can't get this shit to work. Seems to be an overall problem with Arma II itself though.

It is possible and while the person is still dead, you just don't get the loot.

There's a glitch on the server I play (I don't know if it affects other servers) where bodies of bandits that die disappear

But seriously get some firewood and some matches or find a bin they are usually on fire. Bins on fire are all over Cherno.
Found an Mi-17 in the middle of the woods, fuelled up and ready to go. NEver flown around before so I stole it, didn't know how to land but so ejected. But, when it landed and exploded I got kicked for a script restriction, what's the go with that?

Sometimes if you destroy a heli you get kicked because it thinks you spawned it in and destroyed it on purpose.

Not always. Every time that a server would spawn me with mountain dew its been good luck for me. I spawned in a Namalsk server once, found 3 crashed helis, found as50 and ammo. Shot 2 people, but then someone started shooting at me, broke my legs and thought that was the end of me, the dew finally took its toll on me. But, as I was coming to, the dude was running towards my body I started furiously unloading my as50 into him, godmode. He was nice enough to patch me up, give me loot and a car and stuff. I had 15 murders with that life battling for food, but the server got shut down :(

1. Activate auto-hover
2. Wait for the choppah to stabilize
3. Go down slowly until you touch the ground
4. Stop the engine
5. ???
6. Profit

It's hard to actually [I]fly[/I] with auto-hover, but it's good for takeoff/landing or shooting without a gunner.

Try running the ArmaII chopper training thing
Because the chopper will not stop tilting in the direction you're leaning it like it does in other games, and will tilt until you flip, crash, and burn
Also autohover for landing and takeoff, off for flying unless you want to be a giant, slow, noisy sniper target
Is there any settings i should use to make the game a bit clearer (distance is somewhat blurry) and easier control wise, I've reduced the mouse smoothing.

Also, make sure your 3D resolution is the same as your interface resolution.

In the main menu, go to Player Profiles and create a new profile with the name/face you desire.
I haven't played the game in months and I decided to give it another go, got on some map called namalsk or something and spawned with a gun
Ran into like 15 players in half an hour, most were friendly but i got ran over by two guys and survived
