Swerve is indeed awesome xyzzy. Don't be a baddy though. To use swerve to counter a counter spell you need to change the target of the counter spell to swerve. Then the spell is countered because illegal targets. (Swerve is removed from the stack and the spell is countered because illegal target) There's specific rules that prevent spells from targeting themselves.
Yeah, I understand how Swerve works to counter things. I've got a deck chock-full of counters in addition to it to beef up my Pyromancer Ascension, so countering things with Swerve is pretty much a last-resort.
BoP > Llanowar elves.
I can only see Birds of Paradise being incredibly useful (over Llanowar Elves) in a deck with more than four colors of mana where it's incredibly scarce to get the right type of mana. In a mono-green or a green/other deck, both are equally good. Llanowar Elves still rule in elf decks, though.

A colour other than green (duel decks too) Rancor (seriously this card is like if green decks weren't bad) Equipment that give card advantage.
Fucking Rancor.
Fucking Rancor.
Rancor annoys me because it's one of the only enchant creatures I can't steal with Nomad Mythmaker. And it's the only enchant creature everyone uses ever. Granted that's as long as it hits the battlefield, but I don't exactly have anything to prevent that in my enchant creature deck.
I play creature enchants. My sister runs a G/W aura deck. You clearly play against unoriginals, sir Xyzzy.
I play creature enchants. My sister runs a G/W aura deck. You clearly play against unoriginals, sir Xyzzy.
Yeah... only one of my friends plays enchants but he's generally on my team. We play Two Headed Giant most of the time.
I really don't run any creature enchants, except for the playset of Writs of Passage in my infect. Current pet project is making my Chronozoa deck a guarunted monster of a deck.

Enchants are bad mmk
I play creature enchants. My sister runs a G/W aura deck. You clearly play against unoriginals, sir Xyzzy.
So WG Aura is original? Shit, better tell all my friends who have the same deck that I was wrong.
So WG Aura is original? Shit, better tell all my friends who have the same deck that I was wrong.
I'm just a pompous asshole who has no idea what he's talking about, don't mind me.
I'm just a pompous asshole who has no idea what he's talking about, don't mind me.
No you're a baddy who thinks original decks/rogue decks are the only reason magic is good. On the topic of unoriginal decks. I made a mono-white Myr deck. It has potential to produce unlimited mana, for obvious reasons. I've never done it before though, although if I could.. Myr Propagator/Galvanizer. I dislike unlimited combo decks, yet I keep accidentally making them. :colbert:
Self loathing johnny?
Not really. I like tricking in other ways, just not 'oh, I'm gonna get unlimited X and win now' decks. [editline]29th March 2011[/editline] Going by MTGSalvation, I'm more of a Timmy/Vorthos/possible Melvin, I think.
Is it actually officially new phyrexia?
Yep.
So hot.
It's a meh lord. It'll definitely have a slot in my cube but as is I still need massive reworks too it. Fuck me. I'm glad phyrexia won though. Love those assholes.
I just meant the art. Spendy as tits.
I need deck ideas.. I might go to this pre-release, haven't gone to one yet.
Pre-Releases are AMAZING.
Pre-Releases are AMAZING.
Yeah I was meant to goto the last one but ended up having to complete an electronics project.
I have a deck (and quite a few cards) but I'm scared to play MTG because of people like you guys. You know, people that actually do play it and would destroy me in a heartbeat. Then laugh about it and tell me I'm just a 'casual' player.

Still it'll be easy to get back if I get back into it. My biggest problem is going out to FNM and staying on the meta game. At FNM there are lots of different people who play at different levels. Hell your FNM might be draft or it might be T2. I've played against tryhards with 2k rating and baddies below 1300. I've seen them all. I don't insult casuals unless they say things like: "OMG BOP IS THE GREATEST CARD EVER" That's a lie. It's a game. Play it how you want, nobody will judge you. Magic players are inherently friendly. The most common thing to do during a game of magic is TALK. You know. Socialize.

That's what me and my buddies do, that's probably the reasons why our games take so long, even if someone of us plays with a fast deck.
God damnit, this thread makes me want to play again. Unfortunately, the only person I know that I can force to play this is my girlfriend. And she is god awful. I kind of wish my old card shop would do FNM again :C
Pre-Releases are AMAZING.
What goes on at a prerelease? Is it just at card shops? I'd do a crazy 3v3 with decks that aren't designed to win at turn 5 any day vs. playing in a tourny one on one with decks that are.
What goes on at a prerelease? Is it just at card shops?
Sealed competitions yeeeeeeeeeeeeah boyyeeee Get your swiss on. Good way to test your deck construction and card evaluation skills. You make so many decisions based off estimated guesses, reads, playing around cards, playing to minimize other cards. Fucking unreal.
