Draft is the one where everyone opens up boosters and makes a deck from that right? Cause I remember doing that a few times. Shit was cash. I never won but I did have some very interesting battles. I mostly tried picking cards I needed for my other decks rather than picking cards for the draft.
Drafts are great, it's basically 15 bucks for 45~ cards you want, then you pick 3 rares at the end. Even if you come last, you can usually get something fairly decent, or at least interesting. Sure you won't get the uber powerful card of the block, but you won't get utter trash, and since you choose your rares you're usually happier at the end, no matter where you came. For example, if I pulled say, a skitherix from a booster, I'd be ecstatic, but I have NO black cards to build a deck with him in it. I'd never get to use him. On the other hand, a nice etched champion came my way in a draft, and he's been a loyal member of my deck ever since.
There is a card shop right next to where I live. I've never really been though because I don't undstand how tourny's and drafts and such work, I've never been and know no one there. Plus I'd want to play with my decks which I am sure are only "approved" for casual use only, or would be crushed by pro-leet decks or something :v:
The black free 30 card decks come with a skithiryx, I got two booster packs from trading it back to the shop :v:
Played in a draft last Friday and won :D Though I only won through tie-breaker :( There were three players that were 3 and 1. Not sure how I won the tie-breaker, I assume it is because I lost my last game where as the other two players lost either their first or middle games, I was also told your percentage of winning a tie breaker is better if the enemies you defeated had a higher win ratio. Oh well, winning 5 free boosters is cool :D Managed to get another Primordial Hydra in one of them, now that I have three I think its time to build a deck with them.
Oh god. Those things are retarded
You got ripped bro. Skittles sells for 60 bucks.
No it doesn't. http://www.oldschoolgaming.net/products/search?query=skithiryx&n1=GO So does anyone here play EDH/Commander? Made this deck for OCTGN but am slowly collecting the cards so I use it in real games: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/jor-kadeen-equipped/
I'm going to build a werewolf/vampire deck after innistrad comes out and call it FUCKING TWILIGHT

Ozzlander was knocked out ON THE SECOND TURN by a bunch of 3/4s with trample, the AI bit the dust a turn before the picture, and I don't have the creatures to block all that with and promptly lose next turn. Not really much I could have done other than A) release the kraken, or B) delay the inevitable at that point.

A few times we ended up with the first one we got being a 2/2 zombie on our battlefields attacking each of us every turn.

Nah, it's not so bad 3v1. We did it with two burn decks once, that went pretty damn fast.

This is my favorite card from M12 so far: So many fun things you can abuse with this card. Things like Mimic Vat and Greusome encore lets you keep the creatures they produce forever. It lets do crazy things if you bounce your own Oblivion Rings. It's just a fun card :D I also really really like the artwork.
Shenanigans on Revenge mode where the AI is notably less suicidal. First, I managed to turn the match around with a clever application of a kicked Rite of Replication targeting his Captain of the Watch [thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/577807044919264265/787FEDB6BE96B88A5A84FAFDCDC11DAB012C7587/[/thumb] Then, I clear his board [thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/577807044919263172/52786A171D842E54970C96C2E215C86FF81E319D/[/thumb] Then, I toy with him until I get to this point [thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/577807044919254439/AF97982E083B5FCC3950FBF084B617B8135AE0F4/[/thumb] And since I'm all out of things to do and I doubt that last card is something interesting, I swung for the outfield [thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/577807044919261875/5E7A917D5A3834004476A88A35BF915E286F1584/[/thumb] This felt good.

[editline]2nd September 2011[/editline] So could you use that to make it so you don't have to sacrifice this?
I do believe you can, hence if you use it's effect, it instantly "ends" the turn, henceforth there being no end to your combat phase, as it was not initiated. But I have no clue.
Call Wizards if you're ever unsure, I've got a friend that's been playing since 1994 and still calls them.
According to the 2009 rules, combat damage is a separate step of the combat phase than the end of combat.
310.4. Combat damage resolves as an object on the stack. When it resolves, it’s all dealt at once, as originally assigned. The combat damage object is then removed from the stack and ceases to exist. After combat damage finishes resolving, the active player gets priority.
Since priority is returned to the active player before the end of combat, you likely can activate the artifact at that point to save it. Although I am not a judge, ask a judge or some equally qualified individual.
Blegh, Target didn't have the new Duel Deck box. Guess I'm going to have to wait a week or so to get my hands on that sexy alternate art Nicol Bolas. (and Ajani Vengeant and the other 118 cards ofc)
Haters be hating but I have a Jace the Mind sculptor. I'm just sad he's banned but I can still use him in my Commander deck. If anyone else plays it I have the riku one
You're a dick.
I have the devour for power one, it seems to work pretty well, I like how Vulturous Zombie gets a +1/+1 counter for each card that goes to the graveyard from anywhere. :megusta:
I currently have a black vampire deck, a blue control/mill deck (works pretty nicely, using walls and control to shut down opponents while I mill them), a general white deck, a general red deck (when I say general I just mean no real specialty, just some of everything thrown together), a green/red mana acceleration/big fatty deck, a red goblin deck, and a very modified counterpunch commander deck. I'm also working on fixing up an artifact metalcraft deck. Looking forward to going back to school, I'll actually have people to play with for a change. He's very good at making great decks.
for Standard I use a mono-blue Metal craft deck. It's a bit slow but by the time I have 4 mana and I have Grand A out. you are basically finished. I have four foil Etched Champions <3 So amazing. But I have another Milling deck I made. It's blue white control/milling. REALLY fun to play, you just basically get out walls (I use Wall of frost, Wall of Denial) and play Jace Erasure and Memory Erosin and just keep countering spells. I also use Jace in that deck because of his 0 ability. I can practically make you mill, 5 cards in one turn, and thats if I only have 1 Jace Erasure out, if I have all 4....well you do the math
anyone else following Innistrad spoilers? its looking pretty groovy
anyone else following Innistrad spoilers? its looking pretty groovy
I'm excited for Innistrad like I've never been excited before. The last couple sets had mechanics that I wasn't fond of, so Innistrad looks like a pleasant return to form.
Met a chap at college who used a Spirit Legend-based deck, so we did a 1v1v1. Twas crazy, he got Myojin of Life's Web out on turn six, dropped two Kokusho, the Evening Stars and several Iname Life Aspects in one turn to essentially insta-hurt his two opponents for 10 damage each, then get the Kokushos back to his hand to do it again when he got That Which Was Taken several turns later. Insanity. Also was the first time I've seen someone's crazy Xanatos Gambit be pulled off on my turn. Would have killed him with a 9/6 flying Frost Titan had he not dropped that second Kokusho on my turn.
I know they're decent, but I really never liked the dragon spirits from Kamigawa. Preferred Long Forgotten Gohei combined with Thief of Hope and just playing it with Arcane creature control and cheap spirits. It worked out pretty well too - some higher cost stuff but you could go pretty far with the life drain alone. Not as annoying as shrines and zubera though.
