Magic Celebration was splendiferous. I won three booster packs, all said and done (got one for walking in the door, plus two for winning two rounds). Didn't pull any mythics from the booster packs, I got Sorin's Vengeance, Call to the Grave and Adaptive Automaton from those packs, and Primeval Titan, Molten Masticore, Psychosis Crawler and Dark Tutelage from a deck builder's kit. Plus my shiny Nicol Bolas and Ajani Vengeant :3
I didn't get to go, because I had training at the restaurant I'm working at that's opening up this week.
Had to work during the main event of Magic Celebration, didn't get to the local shop until half way through the second Mini-Master game so I ended up missing out. After the main event most people left and there were eight of us left. Funny thing is that Wizards sent the store 6 booster boxes for Celebration, and being marked "NOT FOR RESALE" meant anything unused had to be given out or used for more games. Myself and seven other player spent the next 7 hours drafting for free :D I was able to play three free drafts and I won the last, pretty much walked away with thirteen free boosters :D
i didn't even know it was on
That was awesome. Last night at work I got a $10 coldstone gift card because I did the best on a test thing we were given about our training. So I went to coldstone after work and spent like $5 of it. Then I went to the game store and was able to trade what was left on it for a booster pack :v:
Anyone else unhappy with the ridiculous jump in prices from the announcement of Modern?
I love the art for this card
Anyone else unhappy with the ridiculous jump in prices from the announcement of Modern?
I haven't noticed any drastic price increase; if anything, it's gotten cheaper to play Magic. I remember back when I stopped playing (just after the Kamigawa block), 60 card starter decks would run $15. Now they're $12 and they come with a free booster pack.
I think the prototype portals with memnites would be ridiculous.
not even close. you can get the same effect, as well as another reasonably useful ability, for one more mana and one less card with Myr Turbine

You're primarily running artifacts, so having more colorless mana will be more useful than choosing your color, especially since there's very few blue or white cards. Also, Unwinding Clock is cool, but in your deck it isn't really doing anything besides provide vigilance, and I'm sure there are far better ways to get that. Unwinding clock is best used to use lots of abilities during your opponents turn (or generate lots of mana with myr and use instants/mana cost abilities)
I don't see Unwinding Clock being very standard playable, but it's damn good in multiplayer. Artifact Seedborn Muse ftw

Or you could get another turbine.
the prerelease was fun as heck
Happy Innistrad day, folks! Hopefully Dark Ascension is better for you guys, as this set seems somewhat weak.
The whole double sided cards thing kinda seems weird to me.
Wait what. Double-sided cards? Augh, new mechanics. This is going to be painful.
Wait what. Double-sided cards? Augh, new mechanics. This is going to be painful.
They're not that bad and not that complicated.
I really like heartless summoning, definitely gonna use that to make some fun decks, not sure if I want b/w or just mono black though. Elesh Norn, Massacre wurm and bloodgift demon? Sounds great to me.
They're not that bad and not that complicated.
bit impractical though, and you pretty much have to play with sleeves to use them, unless you wanna use one of these
Alright, well. We're two FNMs into Innistrad guys, what do you think? I've had a lot more fun playing my RDW(sometimes) deck than normal now that I've got a few different cards in it, Stromkirk Nobles are champs, Traitorous Blood is pretty good and won me a game or two tonight, and oh lord are those Brimstone Volleys great. Nothing like swinging for six with two arsonists and a chieftan, goblin grenading to sac the goblin dealing another six, and then brimstone volleying for a grand total of 17 damage on turn four.
Oh right. I got an Innistrad fat pack. Managed to get Liliana.
Nice, their out in stores now? I need to find that witchbane orb card.
Thinking of delving into the hobby of home made proxies. So far I have only made a 1/1 white soldier creature token.
Gah, I'm 12 cards away from being done with this UB zombie deck, and of course they're the most expensive parts. Stupid skaab ruinators, grave titans, and darkslick shores.
what's the current metagame like, i used to run u/b control before it rotated out so i'm left with g/w infect
