I've been meaning to make a flyers deck to use against my friends overpowered zombie deck, any ideas?
White is best deck, that is all.
I've been meaning to make a flyers deck to use against my friends overpowered zombie deck, any ideas?
esper spirits throw in celestial purges since all good zombies are black
The problem with MTG these days is that in a drive to get more players every damn year they fucking revise shit and add on a whole bunch of new rules/features/etc. There are so many new creature types, abilities, rules, etc compaired to MTG2004 and MTG now that its insane Infect, Eldrazi, Planeswalkers, Transformation cards (ones released just in the past year), planeshift, etc etc etc Things were a lot simpler back in the day.
It's also alot more of a 'we are trying to expand our playerbase' type of game and I see things getting simpler every year, when sometimes simple isn't good.

There's some cheap artifacts that will do that, so you can work it into a white deck, which is a good color to go with artifacts anyhow. [editline]16th March 2012[/editline] Also, white has a lot of cheap flyers. That was another point I meant to include.

But nothing me or my friends play with can stop this guys zombie deck, he just gets way to many zombies out in such a short time and makes them all like 5/5. He also has these cheap flyers which are very strong that stop any of the small amount of flyers I have.

Creatures are insanely powerful and spells are so weak right now. The best spells are usually planeswalkers which are mythics and carry the price tag to boot. Also the quality of sets are all over the place, Rise was one of the best limited sets of all time, while Dark Ascension completely ruined Innistrad draft. It's just overall really unappealing.
And that sort of dilemma is why I like eternal formats.

Between Mikaeus, the new tutor, and Havengul Lich I'm pretty sure I was satisfied with DKA
Between Mikaeus, the new tutor, and Havengul Lich I'm pretty sure I was satisfied with DKA
The "Increasing"-cycle was cool, and there are some really cool cards in DKA, I see nothing bad in it. If something, Innistrad was a bit lame but it was just an introduction to the world with kinda like the basics of the world.
Between Mikaeus, the new tutor, and Havengul Lich I'm pretty sure I was satisfied with DKA
DKA took a decent limited format which had a nice balance between control, combo and creature archetypes and skewered the combo + control archetypes. The result is a bunch of annoying aggro decks. What I do really enjoy though is pauper and as jacky mentioned, eternal formats.
Increasing Devotion was the winner for me, especially building a human/werewolf overrun deck.
Ordered some cards online: x4 x2 x4 x4 x4 x4 x4 x4 Let the fun commence :D
We were playing EDH last night and my friend imprinted a counterspell onto an isochron scepter >:( Also the owner of the store I go to started selling Darksteel boosters for $7 each and I pulled a Leonin Shikari and a Panoptic Mirror. So I made about half my money back assuming I trade them
We were playing EDH last night and my friend imprinted a counterspell onto an isochron scepter >:(
That's really lame.
I don't like edh, it seems to attract the scummiest of the neckbeards. All us bros play casual, we also trade all over the place, I've given up rares for uncommons and commons and vice versa because we just mess around. All the other people at uni who play seem to be super serious players and it's always slivers or turn 5 infinite dragons or some shit, which I can live with but they also trade like cunts, basically all of them refuse to trade unless they make like a 200% profit (I've never made a trade with any of them that didn't involve me giving up 2 rares/mythics for one rare, at best)
I've come to the conclusion that blue decks are the least fun deck to play against. Seriously, one of my friends plays a blue/white/black artifact deck, and he has a combo that makes people quit because it's impossible to counter. He has a card that makes all cards on the field artifacts (Mycosynth Lattice), while spells that aren't in play are colorless. Now that the entire field is a handful of terrifying robot monstrosities, here comes the big finisher: Indomitable Archangel. This bastard of a Mythic rare gives all of the cards he owns shroud. At this point, my teammate and I are freaking out, because we know that he's got some trump card that's going to wreck our shit. I desperately attack with my 13/14 Kitsune Mystic (flying, trample, lifelink. :v: enchantments) which buys us some time, dropping his team's lifetotal down to 20 and raising ours up to 63. Next turn, he exiles Kitsune Mystic and all of its enchantments, callously counters my Thorn Elemental. At this point, we're sunk. Turn after that, what does he bring out? Memnarch? His Leyline of Singularity + Empress Galina combo? No. Motherfucking Platinum Emperion. Now, he never has to block with anything. We can't target his Platinum Emperion with the Terashi's Grasp I had in my hand, cause it has shroud from Indomitable Archangel. We can't target Indomitable Archangel, cause it has shroud because of itself. Needless to say, we forfeited.
At least he didn't have that card that I used to have that can turn any artifact into something that you own
Awesome card game, still remember my good old deck :) After 4 turns it was basically just welcome to milling hell :v:

Generally EDH isn't too bad at the store I go to because nobody gets too competitive about it, except my friend, he just likes to win.
So here is what my stasis deck looks like: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/stasis-test-1/ Can anyone give me any tips on what would make it better?

Lets not even get into that darksteel sentenal with flash, vigilance AND indestructability. That fucker can't die, is always avalable for defense, and can be played at any time by default. 6 mana is a lot for a 3/3, but when it's colorless mana AND with all those abilities?
i don't see how any of that is unbalanced
I don't quite know. 6 mana for Darksteel Sentinel seems fair, maybe even a bit much.
I don't quite know. 6 mana for Darksteel Sentinel seems fair, maybe even a bit much.
Seems extremely UP to me since 6 mana can be used on things that are much better

Make it a mono-blue. [editline]17th March 2012[/editline] You also can't deal damage, or hurt your opponents hand or library. It seems your only win condition is getting out a few cards that cause the game to continue until they mill themselves from drawing. This is bad, since you have 60 cards, and some draw, so you'll mill yourself at the same rate or faster. If that's the case, I would recommend remaking the deck entirely.
My friend is Andy Peters and he's top 30 in Canada. Shit got real. (Paying = gain raiting)

Having 60 cards won't harm me too badly since I also have Feldon's Cane and a Soldevi Digger to stall them out, as long as they don't both get milled. Although I could run more than 60 cards like adding in like 2 Howling Mines and more Feldon's Canes if you think it would really help. The real problem though is it has a really hard time dealing with infect decks since its only real way of removal it is through Balance, so I could also add like 1-4 swords to plowshare in a side deck along with a few other cards.
cards Let the fun commence :D
get platinum angel and you be a winner most of the time.
Alright. I tested your deck out, and found the strong points were gaining health from ivory tower (combined with limited ability to damage, thanks to counters), and balance (one of the best cards to use ever.) Weak points included: Getting rid of any number of smaller creatures. Balance was about your only option unless you managed to get all of the stasis into effect (which was uncommon, I felt.) Going with your theme, I'd recommend using: Crucible of Worlds (don't worry about burning off your lands, so you can balance the hell out of your opponent) http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=129480 Zuran Orb (Burn the hell out of your land) http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=212628 Trinket Mage (Find zuran orb / Feldon's cane / ivory tower) http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=209040 Balance It's just too good, which is why it was banned all over the place. Should also help fight off those infect creatures you're having issue with. Cards I would recommend axing: Soldevi Digger & Despotic Scepter. I never found myself needing them. Also howling mine. I felt like I had enough draw opportunity without it, but that one's really more up to your preference. And a final note. You may well have noticed, but I felt I should point it out just in case. Your Vedalken Mastermind can bounce your stasis back to your hand, allowing you to untap every turn while your opponent can't. You could do this starting on your third turn. Of course, I may have played it wrong, and have a terrible read on your deck. So all of this is from what I gathered with a short while spent playing with it.
