Isn't that how everyone started playing?
Pretty much. A friend and I started playing at school, now we have upwards of eight people playing at the same time.
Any one have ever made a white cat/equipment deck? I'm currently making one, and I hope it will be eventually a good deck in the end.
TBH, I don't even know why they made mill decks. Discard decks sure. Counters? Why the fuck not. Milling... eh. Targeting specific cards or types of cards would be acceptable (like Memoricide does) but blowing a guy's deck into his graveyard? Blah.
That said, you do not want to do that to some black decks. They will pull their milled creatures onto the battlefield and fuck you up.
Such as my black zombie planeschase deck.

I suggest you get a few cards that make artifacts cost less mana to play and/or equip for less costs. I believe there are a few Kor cards like that, though they're not cats, they are white cards.
After posting all kinds of cool cards that take a shit ton of mana to cast, can you guys provide me with anything that's good when the game has just started and cost like 1 or 2 mana?
[editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
Preferrably something that works well with other cards as a combo, maybe

Imperial Recruiter is such a baller.

Time Vault + Voltaic Key :D
Combo? Strategy maybe.
You could play with Kird Ape, Loam Lion, Wild Nacatl and fetch lands and make everyone hate you.
Goblin guide. Lightning Bolt. Path to Exile. Doomblade. Swords to Plowshares. Ad Nauseum (it's a combo deck look up ANT :D). Diabolic Edit. Cruel Edict. Chainer's Edict. Rampant Growth.
Any tips for booster drafting? Debating going to one on Friday.
Oh my god. I love drafts :D.
Uh the thing is Mirrodin Drafting is really weird. It's harder to learn how to draft sets that aren't core. Especially sets that break the rules.
There's hundreds of articles about draft theory and deck construction, and they can help your drafting in general, but the biggest thing about drafting is understanding the draft format.
If you want to get into drafting wait for the summer. Wait for Magic 2012 to come out and learn how to draft that.
I used to be ranked 150th in the UK at this a few years back and was gonna try go pro but I went to university instead and stopped playing.
Kind of wish I had not stopped as if you qualified for pro tour they paid for travelling expenses all over the world and stuff. Not sure if they still do that but I presume so. Plus the prize for winning world champs was $250k which ain't too shabby for a card game.
Any one have ever made a white cat/equipment deck? I'm currently making one, and I hope it will be eventually a good deck in the end.
You will probably want this then:

It's a 2/4 for 3 (the price is definitely right) with a very cool ability. A necessity in a cat/equipment deck. That's from Scars of Mirrodin in case you were wondering.

Prize support is still really good, travelling support got cut a whole bunch. It's much easier for US pros. Had you kept playing (if you were good enough) you probably could've gotten a sweet cut out of the magic pie. As is now travelling costs aren't supported as well but lots of US pros hit up 5ks and other smaller tournaments.

I traded one to him. We played a 3 person FFA, where the other guy (Haxxer) managed to use Mind Control on his buffed up Kemba and defeated him.
Then I used a Mind Control of my own to gain control of it and won. That Equip = 2/2 cat token really messed us all up.

Yeah it was hilarious.
I'd like Magic a lot more if it wasn't so horribly unbalanced.
I'd like Magic a lot more if it wasn't so horribly unbalanced.
Depends on the format. Be a limited player. Draft formats are naturally balanced. IE the stronger decks will be drafted more thus you have less of a chance to get the strong cards and thus your deck is less consistent and weaker. Weaker decks are drafted less thus you have a higher chance to get a more consistent deck.
Then of course there's signals, hate drafts, archetypes, etc etc.
Any one have ever made a white cat/equipment deck? I'm currently making one, and I hope it will be eventually a good deck in the end.
I kinda made one for a friend (it was green/white and didn't focus on equipments, but it had some key cards that relate to your theme).
Use this combo for ultimate victory:

I also put this card in his deck:

This is a card combo also in the deck that has amazing synergy:

I don't have this card in his deck, but it would work really well with your equipment theme and Konda's Banner:

Better yet have him and Rashaka in play at the same time, one with Konda's Banner, the other with something else (Legend Rule means you can't have more than one Konda's out at the same time). While using Seht's Tiger and Whitemane to prevent damage/defense until you get to that point.
If you are willing to break free from mono white, Green also has a lot of awesome cat creatures:

Hoh boy, you have several possibilities in this regard.
As of the Scars of Mirrodin set, there are several low cost artifact cards that can contribute incredibly well to your deck. If you need the extra mana, you can always use the Myr cards, which cost 2 and allow you to tap them for a certain type of mana based on which Myr it is. (E.G. Silver Myr - Blue Mana)
From the same set you also have Memnite and Ornithopter, which are a 1/1 and 0/2 with flying, respectively, that require NO mana to cast. They are incredibly useful in metal craft decks, where you need a healthy supply of artifacts on the field. For instance, I currently have a blue and white metal craft going, that utilizes prototype portal and etched champion. My first turn usually consists of a memnite AND ornithopter being played to the field, as I currently play 4 of each, that kind of first turn already fulfills my 2/3 artifact requirement for metalcraft. From that point, it's all about building up to prototype portal and etched champion, or another effective metalcraft card in my deck, and then using tempered steel to buff my artifact creatures for the win.
If you want to look farther back, I dabbled a lot in Shards of Alara. There you could find the "borderposts" which were artifacts that allowed to tap for two colors of mana after bouncing a land back to your hand. If you find yourself playing a multi-colored deck, than it would be more than likely useful to have them, at least if you find yourself strained on mana costs...
And last but not least, just play red. A lot of red cards are focused on getting them out as quickly as possible. A could example would be goblin guide, 2/2 on your first turn AND you get to see your opponent's top card? Yah, if you want low mana-cost cards, red is an option.
When I was 12 to 14 years old I used to play it with a friend, he got me into all this kind of stuff, I were in possession of 2 decks, a green one and a white with samurais. Furthermore I have some minor booster packs.
Unfortunately I stopped playing because nobody played it anymore, I kind of lost interest though. I still have my cards and I honestly like them a lot. It's a great game.

I think I love you.
I bought the Relic Breaker intro pack a while ago, now I don't know a shit about what all kinds of intro packs there are and so forth but I have a ton of artifacts on my deck and most of my actually "powerful" creatures make me sacrifice a lot of them. Most of my weak units are myrs, replicas and spellbombs. I don't really like the way the deck is played, unless the enemy has some artifacts aswell that I can use to my advantages when using cards like Barrage Ogre, Oxidda Scrapmelter, Viridian Revel or my only Hoard-Smelter Dragon (which fucking sucks by the way in my opinion, I never got to use it properly).
I'd rather get some other pack, still keeping the red/green though. I like green for all the gigantic fucking beasts with high counters on them, and it goes well with red in my opinion.
I'd love to have this:

Well, If I was some help, that's nice. :)
I won't lie to you though, intro decks, though providing a nice base around which you can build a deck, are usually not very playable. I would suggest you find an archetype or winning condition that you really want to play with, and then trade whatever you can to get the cards necessary. What I often did when I first started playing was buy an intro deck of the color I wanted to play, and then a fat pack to supplement. Though it certainly costs a lot more, its usually worth it. If you don't pull the cards you want from it, you can usually trade what you do get from it for whatever you need.
Also, if you need ideas on what to play, you can usually google it or go here: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Archive.aspx?tag=Column
This website has several deck-building columns that can provide insight on what deck you want to build. A great column within it is "building on a budget" which provides really nice, cheap deck builds to look into, they also provide a spiffy deck list at some point in each article, so you know the exact cards to look into. :D

You didn't read my post about drafts?
A friend of mine taught me how to play, and even though it was complicated, it was actually pretty fun. It's like a mature yu gi oh. I tend to use a green deck, mounting up a large force then dealing one crushing blow. Now I'm slowly migrating to blue, it's so much fun bending the rules to your will.
I hate Magic the Gathering. It's a game for total nerds.
Also didn't we already have a thread of this? I thought I bumped one a couple of months ago.

Out of curiosity, what exactly did you do with the deck? I'm currently working on a black and white zombie deck utilizing Cemetery Reaper and Shepard of Rot and incorporating life gain through Sanguine Bond and Children of Korlis. (There is another artifact that is very important too, I forget the name, but you sacrifice it to gain the life back that you lose in one turn.)

Just split one of my decks in half. One one hand I have a decent mana grab/enchantment based deck, and on the other hand I have a Spirit-based LIFE EXPLOSION deck.
(seriously, with some of these life-gain cards I have, I can get up to above 30 life rather quickly and make all of my creatures virtually invulnerable at the same time)

Joke
Head
Anyway, black decks are my personal favorite. I love sacrificing my own life to deal massive bursts of damage. The Phyrexian cards are some of my absolute favorites. I'm also a fan of annoying blue control decks. I have a combo that uses the artifact Isochron Scepter (Lets you imprint an instant, in this case Counterspell, with cost of 2 or less onto it, then at any time you can pay 2 mana, tap the Scepter and use the imprinted spell), and Arcane Laboratory (Each player can only play one spell a turn), to make it impossible for the opponent to play spells as long as I have 2 mana untapped at all times.
