The Visual Novel Megathread: Reading till your eyes bleed - Games

I finished reading Narcissu. I think I liked Side 2nd a little bit better, but I still enjoyed this one. I did like the little epilogue you unlock by finishing both stories. I thought it was a nice way to end the story. The music in both stories was pretty nice too, especially the one's with vocals. I've decided that the next visual novel I'm going to read will be My Girlfriend is the President. It looks like a pretty silly and funny story, and I think that's exactly what I'm in the mood for after reading two sad stories.

I kinda dislike the notion of true endings/Canon endings. Isn't the point of having choice in what route you follow is to get the ending you want? If the game outright tells you that the ending you got isn't the good one, it's kind of annoying IMO.

I'm really enjoying My Girlfriend is the President so far. I'm not sure which route I want to go for first yet. So far I think my favorite character is Ell, There's something about her character that I really like. I'm not that far in to the story though, so my favorite might still change.

I've never played or partook in a single VN before in my life, but from what I've seen Katawa Shoujo seems like a good game to start on. Question though: as someone who shares a room with a relative (at least until he moves his ass out to the army) is Katawa Shoujo a game that has a quicksave function is there a sort of checkpoint system? I would want to know whether to download the game now or save it until that said relative leaves? Also time taken to exit the game is important.

Good thing the protagonist of Kira Kira doesn't say everything he thinks like most do in VNs: "If I'm supposed to be honest, I should have said she looks as if she was just raped", as thought after you see Kira looking scruffy after jumping about in a crowd.
