Searching the app store and found Kira Kira on it. Is it even partially like the actual PC game, if anyone's played it? From the description it sounds like a completely different story than the PC version but it says it was ported from it to the iOS devices.
It's a different game. Still pretty good but not kira kira
Well Joe, I never realised that a visual novel is determined by the art style rather than the fact that it work's like a choice-based novel with visuals. :v: The plot, fair enough I guess, if it's not to your tastes it's not to your tastes, but yet again I don't feel that the fact that it has a plot not fitting the "norms" of visual novels shouldn't detract from the fact that it's a visual novel. Like how both Harry Potter and Andy McNab's Bravo Two Zero are both books, despite differences in genre and writing styles. However the more action orientated stance and the disable-able QTE's certainly aren't visual novel tropes, I'll give you that. [editline]1st October 2012[/editline] P.s. You avatar is much too distracting.
Just saying, most visual novels follow an anime like appearance and if I play one with a totally different artstyle it takes me a while to adjust and actually pay any attention to the story. Kind of like Higurashi, take a look at the vn and then the anime. And yes my avatar is quite distracting people are already offering me money on steam for the source :v
most visual novels follow an anime/manga like appearance because they're, my god, made in japan naturally a western vn does not have to conform to this. Speaking of which, I like the art style, but I'm not too fond of the plot from what I've seen so far.

You people know there's a high quality version of Higurashi right?

well shit
Looks a lot better, the old art was really off-putting for me. The story sounds interesting enough so now that there's higher quality artwork I might try it out one of these days.
Wow okay finally Hirugashi looks like something I'd be able to try out :v:
Why would bad art put you off reading something that has an amazing story and soundtrack anyway.
Why would bad art put you off reading something that has an amazing story and soundtrack anyway.
Because I could just watch the anime instead because the art isn't weird in it?
It's a different game. Still pretty good but not kira kira
I thought so. I'll still get it anyways to give me some reading material on the go.
Because I could just watch the anime instead because the art isn't weird in it?
Anime adaptions are rarely very good. Higurashi is one of the few exceptions which has a decent anime attached to it, although I'd still say the VN is better.
Why would bad art put you off reading something that has an amazing story and soundtrack anyway.
Contrary to popular belief, visuals are important in a visual novel. I'd rather read a good story without the visuals if they're just going to distract from the final experience anyways.
Sorry to start a fight, its just someone recommended it without telling me what it was, the art just put me off getting it.
does fate/stay night have anything against [sp]kisses[/sp] or what? :I
does fate/stay night have anything against [sp]kisses[/sp] or what? :I
Don't worry, there's nothing against phallus worms. Also, it's not you run of the mill slice of life romantic VN.
Not even 5 minutes into Tomoyo After and already got [sp]Tongue sucking H shit[/sp] coming in. I woulda appreciated that later on. Side note: Doki plans on making a patch for the ME version. no H and 50% MOAR TOMOYO.

Tomoyo After is good so far. Maybe it's just my mind preparing for the rape train of feels, but the scene where [sp]Tomo's mother says like 2 lines then leaves[/sp] Kind of pulled my strings. All I could say was "... Wat."
I finished reading Irina's route in my Girlfriend is the President a few days ago. It was pretty good, although, I think I liked Yukino's ending a bit better. I'm going to start on Ell's route next. I've been looking forward to it since Ell is probably my favorite of the main characters. Also, I like how the main menu music gets a new instrument added to it after every route. I'm curious what it will sound like at the end.
Finished Tomoyo After, I only have one thing to say.. My feels. On a side note, where is everyone?
Already played my all of my current visual novels anyway. Thanks for something to do over the weekend orkel.
takes a bit longer than the weekend to read through umineko, both the first and the sequel chiru are huge. there are 8 episodes (4 per game) and each episode is around 10 hours worth of reading [editline]11th October 2012[/editline] and don't get put down by the really slow start of episode 1, the story takes a while to kick off and when it does, holy shit [editline]11th October 2012[/editline] and don't spoil yourself on wikipedia, just get the game and start reading
