takes a bit longer than the weekend to read through umineko, both the first and the sequel chiru are huge. there are 8 episodes (4 per game) and each episode is around 10 hours worth of reading
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
and don't get put down by the really slow start of episode 1, the story takes a while to kick off and when it does, holy shit
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
and don't spoil yourself on wikipedia, just get the game and start reading
Longer than the weekend huh?
Well who needs school anyway?

so I'm trusting my weekend and school to you orkel

you get used to it, seriously. it adds its own charm to the game and honestly I couldn't imagine myself playing it with HD art, it wouldn't be the same. besides it's a sound novel so art isn't the main focus, awesome music and story is.
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
adding you on steam
hello orkel here with a reminder for everyone
holy FUCK umineko and umineko chiru are the best visual novels in the history of visual novels and if you haven't read them go do it NOW
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
there is no other book that I've read in my life that has ingrained itself into my heart as hard as umineko has
Do you have to read Higurashi before you read Umineko? They're part of the same series right?
Do you have to read Higurashi before you read Umineko? They're part of the same series right?
nope, same universe but it's a totally different story alltogether, there are only 1-2 small higurashi references that are mentioned, as easter eggs kinda
Alright, thanks. I'll try reading it after I finish my current visual novel.
So for the Steins;Gate fans out there, they're apparently releasing a novel or another Drama CD, and it introduces new characters!
Orkel was right umineko is pretty good so far, you should all be playing it.
when I finish Higurash and MGQ and Kira Kira and MGiTP maybe I will
Gotta finish Alchemy Meister one day, then I'll jump into Umineko.

More steins;gate? Selling my soul must have worked.
I just started reading Chaos;Head.
I have a question about this girl.
[sp]She's going to die, right?[/sp]
So, I marathoned Little Busters + Refrain once I found out the anime was going to be released, and I just finished Refrain last night.
Refrain was really fucking good, almost as good as Clannad After Story. It was amazing how they managed to fit every single piece of the puzzle together and leave no loose ends untied. My only gripe are that the non-canon side routes are kind of lacking, the only one that left me satisfied was[sp]Mio and Midori.[/sp] I still liked Clannad and Kanon more, but Little Busters is still high on my list of recommendations.
Should I do Tomoyo After now that the English patch is out, or play G Senjou no Maou? I'm leaning towards the latter.

G-Senjou then Tomoyo After. TA is good but not as great as LB! Or Clannad.
Oh my god this fell to page 5 D: (Damn you facepunch for making me use crap text emotes, why do you have so few emotes now!)
I need new VNs to play, any suggestions.
Holy Jesus. G Senjou no Maou is amazing, and I've only finished the Tsubaki route so far. It's so fucking well thought out in every single aspect.
Kamidori doesn't autosave, and apparently a captured home base is the doom of us all
FOR FUCKS SAKE

I love seeing people discover the magic of Maou.
Looking forward to seeing reaction to Haru route
Finished the final route on F/SN recently (Heavens feel) Definitely my favorite, Emiya had a lot less spaghetti than the other two routes.
Also played forest, I had no idea what was going on the entire time and i'm still confused.

on heaven's feel, Emiya becomes a living servant on his own, a bit corny to see him go instantly to god tier power level after seeing the two arcs prior.
Although it has the best music and twists.

Forest is pure madness, I loved it even though I have no idea what was going on.
It's the only VN I'd actually call "art"
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
Also I liked Unlimited Blade Works more then Heaven's Feel, Emiya's power in Heaven's Feel isn't really him, it's kind of cheating.
In UBW he's doing the same badass shit without getting the contrived power up, it's just him being awesome.
UBW and fate had the thing going with [sp]Saber's sheath[/sp] and that was pretty contrived as well.
I wouldn't say they were bad routes but various things turned me off of them and heavens feel had less of that.
Not to mention I was really disappointed that they just couldn't resist [sp]throwing in (penis shaped) worms[/sp]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't he still have [sp]Avalon[/sp] In Heaven's Feel? Which would give him both that AND [sp]Archer's arm[/sp] for double the overpowered.
Also it isn't as contrived as he had it from the get go, it wasn't an upgrade he gets halfway though to make him not useless.

[sp]He loses it after saber dies iirc, Which happens before most of the stuff goes down.[/sp]

There's a patch for 1-4 for HD, much like Higurashi. The 5-8 aren't done yet though.
Honestly, I liked Higurashi and Umineko with the original art. Maybe it's just me but it feels a lot better, perhaps more original than your average animu art style.
I've finally finished Deardrops. If I knew I had less than an hour left about a month ago, I would've finished it by then.
I think it's safe to call it a good quality VN, as I expected it to be.

So do you ever get an extras menu? I'm still pretty early on but there doesn't seem to be one.
Finished Ell's route in MGiTP, so all that's left now is Ran's path.
I liked how Remi played a bigger role in Ell's route, and I thought the ending was good.
I'm not sure what to expect from Ran though. I thought she seemed kind of mysterious at times in the other routes, especially at the end of Irina's.
Fuck, I can't find a working Majikoi S Trial link. Margit's patch got released but now I have nothing to apply it on. I searched Minatosoft's website, Wairu's blog etc. but there's always something wrong like download missing or corrupt file or removed download etc.
Any help, fellas?

Yeah, after finishing the first route you get access to h-scenes, cg gallery, soundtrack and songs unlocked so far.
