Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head, though the protagonist of Chaos;Head is still a total perv.
Chaos;Head's MC is the biggest douchelord ever conceived, once you've seen him you will never meet anyone more pathetic in your entire life. Only halfway through will his terrible cringeworthy character traits be replaced with more dominant negative traits, which results in less annoyance even though he's still a moron. Only in the very end will he transcend from shitmaster extraordinaire to just 'terrible'. The VN itself is pretty awesome though.
You know the protagonist is bad when the ending where he dies is the good ending.
Chaos;head would have been on par with Steins;gate if Takumi wasn't the worst Visual Novel lead I've ever seen, seriously fuck him.
You have to get used to idiot protagonists if you want to read visual novels.

But he's not just any old Idiot Protagonist, he's also a total loser asshole with 0 redeeming qualities.

Gotta give them credit for trying something new with a protagonist even if it didn't work, They actually pulled it off in steins;gate which is one of the reasons i'm such a fan of it.

But the protagonist of Steins;Gate actually has redeeming qualities and isn't retarded.
The reason Steins;Gate is good is because Okabe is a good protagonist, Takumi is awful.

Honestly, I don't understand why everybody hates the guy. He's amusing because of the fact hes like a scared animal in a cage the whole time. Everybody loves the brave, passionate, zealous protagonist most of the time, but hes also an interesting character. Also Okabe is an exceptional protag imo, its just that you have to change your perspectives to like Takumi.
Finally finished the Yuela route in Alchemy Meister. Now for the other two.
Really gotta catch up my VN reading.

I can't like Takumi, he's a loser, his voice is grating, his dialog is annoying, and he acts like a jackass to everyone.
I've never played a VN with a more loathsome Main Character then Chaos;Head.
By the time he shows even a shred of decency, the VN is over.

I like the second half better where he's just paranoid and scared of everything, purely because that drowns out the other retarded traits he has.
I don't mind Takumi. He can be a bit annoying but once his paranoia shoots through the roof he becomes way easier to sympathize with, imo, since I'm pretty sure anyone in his position would be fucking terrified :v:
You should all play Morenatsu.
I want a VN where the protagonist is a playfully dumb badass ala Kamina
just imagine how fun that could be
Figured I'd share something and friend and I have been working on.

that's amazing lol
when can we expect a release?

Eventually. We'll be releasing a demo that is just the first case (there's three total in the first game), and it's about halfway done. I'd guesstimate sometime in the coming weeks but that's just me being optimistic.
This is completely off topic, but who's ready for the end of the world and massive crimerate spike tomorrow?
On topic: Alchemy Meister takes forever to do.
New yosuga no sora translation update!

Kazuha’s route finished! + project status 12/19!

After a lot of struggle, Kazuha’s route has been completed. A quick history: most of her route was translated even before trjr started (that is, everything excluding h-scenes), later deltakei took his sweet time, but finally translated first h-scene and then I took my sweet time to translate the other two. But finally, it is completed. It’s translation is nowhere near good, so it will need a solid translation check, but at least we have a good base to work on now.
No staff changes this time. With this new team, everything finally goes well. Also, trjr was giving signs of life lately, so I hope he’ll help us out for example with Kazuha’s scenario tl check. Now, I’ll start to work on deciphering CSX file format for real.
Here are some stats:
Sora’s route - finished, 8334/8334 lines done (100%).
Nao’s route - 838/7378 lines done (11.3%).
Akira’s route - 3473/8860 lines done (39.2%).
Kazuha’s route - finished, 6690/6690 lines done (100%).
Motoka’s route - 1125/6315 lines done (17.8%).
Common route – finished, 2119/2119 lines done (100%).
Overall, 22579/39696 lines done (56.9%).

Getting Virtue's Last Reward for Christmas :)

the little sister makes me want to decapitate myself [sp]with an imaginary sword[/sp]
also i havent even seen [sp]the box[/sp] yet, this seems like a long one
[editline]a[/editline]
what did they say the 4th sci;adv would be about?? i swore they revealed it (or where it took place)
[editline]a[/editline]
goddamn the 2chan parts are great

Honestly, Takumi is more obnoxious than his sister. Also, the 4th science ADV will be a conclusion to the previous 3 (C;H, S;G and R;N), so I'm really pumped for it. There's a new S;G VN and movie coming up, so there will be a lot more science while you wait for the final science ADV.
Pretty sure Analogue: A Hate Story counts as a visual novel, has anybody here played it.
I've got tons of money right now and the game with soundtrack for 3.24 sounds great but I want to know if It's worth playing.
is it going to be directly linked (as in everyone shows up) or just a culmination of the saga dealing with the 300
I hope its the latter, I like the independent casts and settings and was hoping for a set of new ones

Science ADV? Is that what they're calling that series of games? And i had thought the new S;G was not a visual novel but rather a light novel.
also has anyone here read robotics;notes
i like the anime, its pretty mellow, but i'm wondering if characters like subaru and the karate girl are a little more three dimensional in writing (and how slow setting up flags are)

The anime just picked up speed (as there was actually something interesting), but I have no idea how it'll end up. I'd read the VN but there's no PC version or translation, so I'll just go for the anime.

Also, I believe this will incorporate the characters from the previous 3, which I would personally love. Having multiple casts you already know team up to fuck shit up would be great in my opinion.

i vaguely remember someone here talking about the quality of R;N's routes, especially how one of them was [sp]very cyberpunk[/sp], I'm gonna assume this was Frau's but I can't remember
either they read it or they got info from somewhere else, either way I'd like to know

it should be pretty cool but I guess I'm looking forward to chapter 5 then if thats even a thing thats going to happen, I want to see what phoenomenon they tackle next
its kind of like persona 5; lots of people want it to be a P4 and P3 meetup but that would bore the piss out of me personally
[editline]a[/editline]
if i ever feel especially autistic ill write up about how I think C;H was a better than S;G overall

Apparently it's fairly average.

Don't think so, I believe they said 4th will be the last standalone one (since they might do some spinoffs).

Really? The fact that C;H has a piss poor MC really takes the story down a notch. I also think Steins;Gate was more faithful to the science part than Chaos;Head, since C;H seemed to pull more stuff out of it's ass without any real explanation. You probably haven't read the entire thing yet, but the whole thing related to the [sp]Di-Swords and Real Booting[/sp] just felt vague and working because it just works.

he wasn't a piss poor MC; he was complete and utter trash, yes, to the point of almost seeming two dimensionally garbage, but in the end [sp]this is actually justified[/sp] and the fact that so many people actually despise the bastard shows that he was well written enough to get people to actually dislike him
okabe was pretty great, especially when interacting with certain characters (Faris, Suzuha and Ruka come to mind) but I think his character did kind of flip flop (UNDERSTANDABLY) [sp]after a few too many mayurhi deaths[/sp] but I think he became [sp]a little TOO much of a shell of himself, I mean the chuuni thing was really a facade to keep himself and mayuri happy but the whole "MC is just putting on a persona" kind of seemed like "not again" to me[/sp]
Kai from R;N however is, though I like the guy, a pretty fucking bad MC. a realistic guy, maybe, but still boring as piss and entirely unenthused in the weird shit going around (takumi feared it, okabe embraced it, but Kai just doesnt give a shit) [sp]he'll probably get better even if he's the weakest of the three[/sp]
I'll agree that C;H's "science" was bullshit compared to S;G's but one thing that I enjoyed more was the sense of mystery; other than a few things seeming obvious [sp]like the detective's partner being evil, its always the detective's partner[/sp] some other mysteries I really had no idea about throughout the entire game [sp]like the identity of Grim, the story behind the two little sisters and the insertion of Rimi[/sp], the last time I was actually wondering in a VN was probably Ever17
in S;G a lot of whats going on is directly explained to you because the cast is much more intelligent and held together as a group but that took a lot of the mystery away, and none of the moments were quite as "FUCK" as say [sp]seeing the nurse's sketches full of prophetic scribbles[/sp], although a few parts like [sp]psycho nae[/sp] were really goo
shame [sp]nae[/sp] is so fucking boring in the anime
