Playing Saya no Uta. I get BAD vibes from Saya. I just started and I know she is going to turn out to be something horrible.

Oh my god, the Saya No Uta website is so misleading it made me shit a brick. With all the white and no assumption of bad things. [SP] Made even funnier by the fact that the main character becomes more akin to a highly mutated Khorne Beserker by the end of the damn thing[/SP]

Having freshly read F/SN you might get a kick out of the jokes! Actually reminds me that I should read through F/SN again.

I decided to try out SWAN SONG because I somewhat like post-apocalyptic stories. However I have some qualms about the way the dialog is set up in the VN. Some of the time the dialog is layed out decently, but most of the time it's something horrendous like: [img]http://i.imgur.com/Wm1pm.jpg[/img] As a side-effect of translating, it gets expanded far more than it should and sometimes wraps around onto a new bubble (or even off of the dialog box itself). The writing thus far has been pretty good, and it's reminiscent of [u]Lord of the Flies[/u] in a lot of ways. The story is told from the perspectives of 5 of the main characters, switching between them every once in a while, experiencing what they experience as well as reading what they're thinking. Although this hasn't been mentioned in the thread so far, it is in that VN compilation image towards the bottom of the OP. I may as well explain what it's about; trying not to spoil anything: The story starts on Christmas Eve, where a college student named Tsukasa is taking a walk to get some Hot Cocoa from a nearby vending machine. Shortly after he get's his warm beverage, an earthquake hits that eventually causes him to lose consciousness. When he wakes up he finds himself engulfed in a blizzard with very low visibility, and now has to make his way out of this blizzard. On his way to there school (a pre-designated emergency shelter), he hears a faint cry for help. There's also a small explanation with odd grammar in that VN image. (Just a word of warning: rape, merciless slaughter, and plenty of gruesome acts happen throughout the story. As there is little form of law or order, along with typical inter-communal conflicts, people who have experienced catastrophic events become mentally unstable the longer time goes on. It doesn't necessarily feel out of place in context to the story. When people lose hope that they'll ever be saved, their wills and act primarily on instinct and desire. This is definitely not something to read if you're disturbed of what might happen if the apocalypse does come about.)

I remember the Katawa Shoujo thread saying that Katawa Shoujo was one of a kind VN that was universally liked and other VNs weren't really worth any attention. Anyway, you guys are crazy, so many posts :v: Saya no Uta is one of a kind, I really like it for that reason, and why I added it to OP. Also, fate's stay night best ending, in Heavens feel, is pretty fucking amazing.

SWAN SONG is seriously disturbing. I'm sure Saya no Uta wouldn't even be as bad as this. extreme spoils: (a lot of major plot points are within this, although i tried to be vague) [sp]One of the main characters saves a girl while she's being raped, kills her rapers by piercing them through the chest with a knife on a shaft, then eventually kills the leader of the camp because he disagrees with the leader and frames his friend with doing it. Then while having consensual sex with the girl that got raped to slaughter and rape her mother simply because she doesn't like her mother (i think it is consensual but she may have been permanently scarred so she is probably completely crazy by now). She says it so matter-of-factly too. No remorse. All the while he is brutally killing and raping people as if it's totally natural, mostly hostages from the "enemy camp". And then eventually sics a dog to devour a hostage alive. I'm not even. I don't. Uh. ...[/sp] I'm paraphrasing that a lot. There's far more that I left out. I think i took a wrong path somewhere. I [i]have to[/i] have messed up somewhere and went down a path I shouldn't have. Sorry, i just needed to say this somewhere so i can stop thinking about it.
