What? [editline]3rd March 2012[/editline] And that image marco is really fucking stupid.
Holy shit shining fingers stop texting me during the conference when you're right beside me.
I think she sent 13 mails during that scene
now on Yukino Act 3 in MGiTP hnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggg
Any opinions on Clannad? What should I expect if the only VN I played so far was Katawa Shoujo?
Heard it's purdy good. I'd go for it. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] It's one of those "you gotta play this even if you end up loving it / not liking it" pieces of media
It's really long though, if you wanna get the "real ending", which I suggest you should go for. I think it took me 60~ hours to do it, and I completely skipped trough most of Kotomi's arc. It's also fucking amazing.
Any opinions on Clannad? What should I expect if the only VN I played so far was Katawa Shoujo?
It's really good but it's long as shit. Getting the "true ending" will probably run you at least 50 hours. If you don't wanna spend +50 hours on the VN the anime is also a viable option. It has 48 episodes(two seasons) and follows the "true route" from the VN but it also covers the other arcs too. Of course it goes without saying that they had to change a few things but they handled it so well that it is still incredibly faithful to the original source material.
Just started on Umineko. Lets see how it goes. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
It's really good but it's long as shit.
Any opinions on Clannad? You're probably going to suffer from 10x more feels than Katawa Shoujo, but in the end it's worth it.
This is a great piece of BGM.
Just started on Umineko. Lets see how it goes.
You're in for an amazing read, if you can survive through the long winded inheritance discussions in the first couple of chapters.
You're in for an amazing read, if you can survive through the long winded inheritance discussions in the first couple of chapters.
Bro I read through Rainmaker by John Grisham in one sitting. I take boredom fairly well.
You're in for an amazing read, if you can survive through the long winded inheritance discussions in the first couple of chapters.
It may be a good read but you have to look at some of the crappiest art I've ever seen. Seriously, it's like they didn't even try. They should have just printed some books or something.
almost like the art matters at all
Visual Novel
Visual Novel
Umineko is a sound novel, actually. They did remake it for the PS3 with HD graphics, vastly improved art and full character voices, but there's no port for the PC afaik.

Plenty of good VNs with worse art than Umineko. edit: Wait what the fuck I don't want to argue with you ughughu
Umineko is a sound novel, actually. They did remake it for the PS3 with HD graphics, vastly improved art and full character voices, but there's no port for the PC afaik.
Except it clearly has art. When I think of "sound novel" I think of an audio book.
want so, so want
Maybe someday it'll be ported. Chances are pretty small tho. In the meantime the current PC version is perfectly fine. You'll get used to the art fast.
Wait what the fuck I don't want to argue with you ughughu
shitshit we're being pulled towards chunky's black hole of arguments again
Doesn't mean the visuals have to be good. Plenty of good VNs with worse art than Umineko. edit: Wait what the fuck I don't want to argue with you ughughu
Then what's the point of having art at all if you're just going to half ass it? I would at least expect it to not look like it was drawn by children. Care to name a few? [editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
shitshit we're being pulled towards chunky's black hole of arguments again
I'm sorry, but I think bad art is a perfectly valid complaint for a VISUAL novel. It's fair enough that there exists a version that fixes the problem but we won't be playing that one.
Higurashi has pretty crap art, but the story is great. Good art helps, but it isn't a necessity.
Then what's the point of having art at all if you're just going to half ass it? I would at least expect it to not look like it was drawn by children. Care to name a few?
Art in VNs, as I understand it, show the characters who are talking, show details which characterize them, and show their emotional state. From what I can tell, Umineko has done fine so far. True Remembrance and Kanon are two off the top of my head which I would say had less than average art. Yet it didn't bother me as I was reading them. Kanon is of course less "oh god the art is horrible" and more "oh god what were they thinking with these designs", but it fits. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
I'm sorry, but I think bad art is a perfectly valid complaint for a VISUAL novel. There's an incomplete PS3 art patch for Umineko floating around the net but it's not worth installing because it's incomplete. Hope they can finish it someday. I think they're still working on it [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] I think Umineko with that art would lose part of its charm though, it would feel like an old awesome movie got a hollywood remake
It's called UmiTweak.
want so, so want
That's what the hd version looks like? oh my...
I think Umineko with that art would lose part of its charm though, it would feel like an old awesome movie got a hollywood remake
Implying all remakes are bad. It's more akin to the Kanon 2006 remake. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
That's what the hd version looks like? oh my...
They actually look normal instead of like people shaped balloons, and look! Shading!
Implying all remakes are bad. It's more akin to the Kanon 2006 remake. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] They actually look normal instead of like people shaped balloons, and look! Shading!
Wasn't Kanon 2006 the anime remake? There's only one visual novel [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] Also the first Kanon was so horrible, the 2006 version is too good to be counted only as a remake.
Wasn't Kanon 2006 the anime remake? There's only one visual novel
Umm yeah, no shit. If your point is that they can't be compared than you're wrong. The fact that one is an anime and one isn't is totally irrelevant. The point is they both received a total visual remake and as such are directly comparable in that regard.
