The Visual Novel Megathread: Reading till your eyes bleed

I got Steins gate, really really good so far, though it was a learning experience getting it all translated and playable. Neat though
I am playing clannad, completed 5 arcs so far. My heart feels funny.
Right now I'm doing Kotomi's route. It's (thankfully) damn long and I like it the most out of all I've played so far.

Kotomi's really good, but the ending is so fucking heart breathtakingly sad/happy.
And that's why I am using the guide, I've had enough of being depressed because of VN's.
Edit: Shit, I misread the entire post. Still I've beaten it and was on the verge of crying at the end, even though I knew what it was like since I watched the anime.
Just finished Clannad last night and I've got to say, [sp]The After Story arc in which Nagisa dies has got to be the most heart-wrenching thing I have ever read in my entire life.[/sp]
Started watching the anime though, and I'm really liking it so far despite never really being a big fan of the genre.

Finished DearDrops, the story was decent. It wouldn't win any awards, but it kept me entertained throughout the game.
All the Heroines we're unique and I liked them all.
The music (not BGM) was really good, especially the rock songs with the violin.

The H-Scenes we'e nothing special, but they made sense and didn't feel forced at all. No tear-inducing moments, but some were touching,
like when Gonda [sp]got Akira's message telling him that she loved him[/sp].
The Art was really good, surprisingly almost. Lots of CG that wasn't only of girls. I really liked how colorful it felt. Probably what I liked the most about Deardrops, after the music.
The game itself felt really stable, featuring quicksave/quickload, and had small icons of which character was talking which helps if you're not used to Japanese names.
The translation was perfect, didn't notice any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.
Giving it a total of 7/10

Interesting how VN soundtracks are more often than not really, really good.
CLANNAD's soundtrack was/is amazing, and I actually listen to it on my mp3 player/phone quite often.

Fucking brilliant
I love its soundtrack too, this one is one of my favourites:

Oh god the memories. :v:
Clannad songs brings back all those moments.
I suppose Clannad is the only VN that can actually make me a man-child all over.
I keep telling myself to carry on with clannad but after having seen the anime I can only play for five minutes before being reminded of THAT episode in after story.
After which I have to go and cry in the corner for a while.

Speaking of music in Clannad

Oh man, it's been such a long time since I watched Clannad. If I did it again I'd probably cry.

Superior clannad rap combination
So I finished the main arc for Fate. On Unlimited right now.
Shirou is such a dumb MC.

Shirou gets better as the arc advances. At the end of Heaven's Feel he's literally stronger than a god.
It's weird, it's like Shirou kept knowledge and power from the arc prior to the next. In Unlimited Blade Works he gets awesome, in Heaven's feel he's got his hurr moments, but he's mostly a servant slayer.
Out of curiosity, does anyone else who finished Clannad feel kinda... I don't know really, hollow-ish?
Like, the fact that it's over just really sucks, I kinda had the same thoughts when I finished Katawa Shoujo, but these are at least 10x worse.
Maybe its just me, and I'm simply weird.

Thats how i felt every time i finished an arc in KS. I'd say its normal.
That's the feeling I fear the worst. And probably it's one of the main reasons why I chose Clannad, OP says it's extremely long.
It ends sooner or later though...

It's long enough for you to care about all the characters, and when it ends, it's like you've lost a circle of friends somewhat.
Clannad is weird, done weird shit to me I haven't healed from since.

I've had it with countless tv series and games.
And I fucking hate it. Though I guess it also means I can relate with tons of different characters and situations, thus making me like them more.

Because I'm quite certain I'm going to experience similar feelings, I'm even more afraid than previously.

yep
I felt the same way from Kira Kira and Katawa Shoujo.

I hate when these kind of choices come up
I just want to end up on a route, choosing one is silly

I guess I won't need to make a flowchart for this one heh :v:

Just finished Monmusu quest Part 2.
Welp, what a cliffhanger ending. :v:
Not as bad as the Darkness 2 but still.
I guess I was really playing most for the story in the end, since I was skipping most of the ero scenes.
Now, I've just got to finish Kamidori. Welp, they'll call me the monster girl specialist.
I think I just got cockblocked by a cat

whose naked body am I interested in?

what kind of sperg actually answers that question seriously? can't I just say Gonda and get it over with?
[editline]10th April 2012[/editline]
or chika :q:
but the story is amazing and there are so many different endings
[editline]7th April 2012[/editline]
and it has the amazing logic that if a character has CG, you can be raped by her.
[sp]Excluding Unfortunate Lamia though, sadly[/sp]
NUH UH
[sp]you don't get raped by the pirate ghosts[/sp]
So I finished Forest and I must say I still have no clue what the fuck that game was about, too deep for me I guess. :v:
Also Feuver, don't know if you omit it/forgot it or simply refused to include it in the OP, but Hotel Dusk is a damn good game for the DS.
