Ok two big questions: Higurashi-- anime or VN? Steins;gate-- anime or VN?
One small answer: VN
I'm a full season and a half into higurashi. This is a tough call.
Higurashi anime is great, watch it for sure. You can always read the VN later. Although it takes some effort to "spice up" with proper art and sound patches. Steins is both an amazing anime and an amazing VN. Check out both.
Pretty sound advice. Thanks dawg
So after watching the Steins;Gate anime, I continued on the VN, and I got one alternate ending. I really love the way the game handles the endings, and after seeing the true route in the anime, it's even better to see the alternate futures that come along in the VN.
Steins is both an amazing anime and an amazing VN. Animation seemed perfectly fine from the 5 or so episodes I saw. I dunno how it looks "really wonky".
I finished Moeka's route in a Steins;Gate Hiyoku Renri no Darling last night, it took me about 8 hours in total. And that's just one of the six routes :v: So today I chose another one at random to play next. Odear. This should be interesting.
Animation seemed perfectly fine from the 5 or so episodes I saw. I dunno how it looks "really wonky".
gifs and clips I've seen so far looked vaguely flat and choppy compared to the VN's original style, although it would be hard to put its original style in animated form without fucking uncanny valley between the folds
Steins;Gate Hiyoku Renri no Darling
how is that by the way i'm sure its no Maji S in terms of sheer content but it looked pretty fun all the same
how is that by the way i'm sure its no Maji S in terms of sheer content but it looked pretty fun all the same
It's pretty good, much more light hearted then the original Steins;Gate but if you're looking for something silly to play it's pretty good.
It's pretty good, much more light hearted then the original Steins;Gate but if you're looking for something silly to play it's pretty good.
I saw the opening for it immediately after I finished S;G and I laughed my ass off, so its off to a good start is Ruka a girl in this magical timeline
gifs and clips I've seen so far looked vaguely flat and choppy compared to the VN's original style, although it would be hard to put its original style in animated form without fucking uncanny valley between the folds
I'm sorry but how is an animation "choppy" in comparison to a VN where static images change positions with no transitions between states.
I'm sorry but how is an animation "choppy" in comparison to a VN where static images change positions with no transitions between states.
I'm not comparing the anime's animation to the VN's animation I'm comparing the art style of the anime to the art style of the VN sadly that wasn't conveyed in that earlier mess of a post when the "choppy" became lumped in with the "flat", those should've been separated into differing statements (but now you know!)
I saw the opening for it immediately after I finished S;G and I laughed my ass off, so its off to a good start is Ruka a girl in this magical timeline
Truthfully I don't know, but Okabe thinks Ruka is a guy. Whether or not that's the case is up in the air [sp]Probably not since it looks like there's a Rukako route but who knows[/sp]
For Stein's Gate[sp]It's so painful to watch Okabe keep giving away more information about the time machine to Moeka. She's just a damn leech who will do nothing but screw him over without thinking twice.[/sp]
Do any of these accommodate gays too? Just asking, seeing as most of these are just variations of female harems. They all look same-e.
Do any of these accommodate gays too? Just asking, seeing as most of these are just variations of female harems. They all look same-e.
I believe there's some gay VN's. I've never looked for them but it really wouldn't surprise me.
Do any of these accommodate gays too? Just asking, seeing as most of these are just variations of female harems. They all look same-e.
Ya mean yaoi? Yeah there are VN's that swing in that direction. Just search for yaoi and you'll find what you need.
Ya mean yaoi? Yeah there are VN's that swing in that direction. Just search for yaoi and you'll find what you need.
Yaoi implies gay sex, doesn't it? Do all VN's have to have sex in them?
Yaoi implies gay sex, doesn't it? Do all VN's have to have sex in them?
No, it implies a relationship between two dudes which may or may not be elicit.
Yaoi (やおい?)[nb 1] also known as Boys' Love, is a Japanese popular term for female-oriented fictional media that focus on homoerotic or homoromantic male relationships
[editline]19th June 2012[/editline] There is also 'bara' which is apparently somehow different from yaoi.
Bara (薔薇?, "rose"), also known as the wasei-eigo construction "Men's Love" (メンズラブ menzu rabu?) or ML, is a Japanese jargon term for a genre of art and fictional media that focuses on male same-sex love and desire, usually created by and for gay men.
[editline]19th June 2012[/editline] My point in using the terms was that when you're looking for a specific genre it makes sense to use the terms Japan uses since, ya know, the damn things are from Japan and we tend to just translate Japans genre names and use those.
yaoi is younger men, bara is adults. And then you've got shota, which is little boys
Yaoi, since Bara is filled with hairy muscle-men (ew) and shota is just plain wrong, man.
Yaoi, since Bara is filled with hairy muscle-men (ew) and shota is just plain wrong, man.
Why [editline]20th June 2012[/editline] Let's have another loli/shota rage-inducing discussion in this thread aswell
Why [editline]20th June 2012[/editline] Let's have another loli/shota rage-inducing discussion in this thread aswell
even better, lets post pictures of loli and/or shota rage [thumb]http://lurei.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/nichijou-ep-8-3.jpg[/thumb] google image search for angry shota didn't turn up many useful results
Why [editline]20th June 2012[/editline] Let's have another loli/shota rage-inducing discussion in this thread aswell
Because of the thought of fucking children gives me the heebie-jeebies. Now don't pull an argument out of thin air by saying 'what if they just look young'. That's not what I mean. I'm talking about Boku no Pico level shit.

Ahh, monmusu and your shota raping by monster girls. How weird can you be.
Dammit why does Steins;Gate Hiyoku Renri no Darling have to be a console/PSP exclusive. I would get it if I had a PSP/PS3 and knew the moon language, but I don't. It would be an instant buy for me, if it was on PC and somebody translated it.
