In order of goodness it goes Shizune-Hanako-Lilly-Emi-Rin (worst 2 best)
I still liked Hanako best :(
I liked Lilly the best, however Rin was written the best.
Holy shit I had no idea it was animated I just wanted to see if any of you guys had played it before.
Well fuck anybody opinions I'm going to buy it anyway.
Damn I can't find anywhere to get it in english.
In fact I can't find it anywhere. Do they even sell it in places other than Japan?
Seriously the plot looks so good and I want to buy it.
Sigh. You are a very excitable and impulsive person, are you not?

Yes I'm an idiot and I tend to jump to conclusions that has been established multiple times.
On topic of KS Rin was the best.
KS is overrated

It's still good
So I've got Steins;Gate ready to go and patched and haven't actually started it yet. I've already seen the Anime so I'm wondering how distinct the various routes are, like if I choose a route that isn't the "true" route it isn't just going to end with a BAD END is it?

Steins;Gate has a different way of handling endings. If you just keep on reading and doing pretty much the logical thing, you'll end up with the true route (or at least the true route until a certain point). The endings are basically available from chapter 6, where you can choose to [sp]send a cancellation message[/sp] and if you don't, you end up with a route that is different from the anime (not really a bad ending but rather a sub-optimal one).

More like BITTERSWEET END
More like BITTERSWEET END
Any more visual novels with those? I want to[sp]read [/sp]them.
I've started Steins;Gate but I've had to turn off voice acting because the voices are too different to the series.

Don't they both have the same voice actors? That's what I remember.
Don't they both have the same voice actors? That's what I remember.
They do, the VN was just recorded 2 years earlier so naturally they'll sound different (younger). I got used to it pretty fast, it's a shame to turn them off, they're really good.

They're the same voice actors? Okarin and Mayurii sounded like completely different people. I'll probably switch them back on then to see if I get used to them.
It isn't translated you doofus
it amazes me that there are people here who still can't read japanese

Seriously?
Seriously?
probably 95% of VNs will never be translated to english. if you're a fan of visual novels you should probably learn japanese.
[editline]4th July 2012[/editline]
and it's not like it's a particularly difficult language anyway

Yeah, learning to distinguish 2000 characters just to be fluent in reading it isn't difficult at all.
That's not even touching the vocab which I have heard contains 6500 words at the minimum.
Just learning Japanese to read Visual Novels seems a bit overkill.
This too.

there are less than 100 characters in Kana and you generally only need about 1200 kanji to fully understand it and around 2000 for total literacy
I didn't learn it to read visual novels either. a friend of mine was born in japan and I learned the basics from him when I was like 8 so we could communicate without others knowing what we were talking about. Once you learn the kana, the kanji just comes to you after a while.

I know the kana already, it's the kanji that is the big bottleneck though.

I would love to learn japanese just for the sake of reading visual novels, but after almost failing french class I don't think it would be a good idea for me to try learning another language.
Oi learning japanese from start is the hardest thing to do- sentence structure is literally almost completely backwords(at times).
I wouldn't mind learning Japanese, I already know both English and French. I just don't know where to start. Japanese language course looks fucking expensive.

Memrise is pretty good for vocab and kana, you'll have to find something else for grammar and stuff though.

Haha, fuck that.
I'm "learning" japanese.
And basically all I've learnt comes from anime openings.

Hah. You and I both.
I also think that "baka" means "idiot" because that's usually what translators use.
This site is pretty useful: http://kanjidamage.com/
I learnt a lot about kanji from there, even though I wasn't going to actually learn Japanese.

not necessarily idiot, it can mean fool or jerk too.
[editline]4th July 2012[/editline]
or a bunch of other generally rude things to call someone
no wai
also I can read about 10 hiragana, where is the best place to go to learn more?
