Look guys if you really want some sort of mech armor for the robot race you can easily make a mod for it with the massive mod support the game will have.
Hell, I've already made plans for an Armored Core (like what Zeriga posted) like Mod that will allow you to use different kinds of parts and weapons to make a unique pilotable mech.
Just not a stories tall one...
Edit: Wonder how moddable the game will actually be.
