But Terraria's visuals were not pleasing nor nice.
I thought the hallow was quite nice. The rest of it was mostly pretty bland though unfortunately.
Screw MS3 quality, let's go all the way to Street Fighter 3!
Making a single armor would take what, a month? :v:
I'd enjoy that. I mean like in terraria (I've seriously got to stop comparing them) I loved the hardmode tier armor and weapon tiers took more.. extravagant materials. Instead of it just being x amount of y, it became x amount of y, z, a, b, c, d, etc etc.

Metal Slug and Street Fighter sprites are about the same quality, if you take into account the fact that the Street Fighter sprites are much bigger.
Also spriting doesn't take that long.

it takes longer when they're proffesionally made, and you may not be factoring in animations as well.

Animating sprites is a terrible pain though.

I more meant from the technical standpoint, not gameplay

One of the devs was streaming himself coding, if anybody cares.

Caught a snippet of the temperature gauge before he blanked the screen :v:
It seems to look similar to the Sims bars, with temperature above the bar and three arrows on each side of it.
Dev confirmed that when you plant something on a planet and leave the planet to go somewhere else that planet will be unloaded, but the game holds the time it was unloaded and when you arrive back at the planet the plant will have grown based on how long you were gone. So it's basically just simulated time when you're gone.

WHY?

To be fair Terraria made a fairly decent start with home customization, but Starbound is doing it a fair bit better, especially now you can put anything in foreground or background.
I know I'm late but looking at that picture above has made me excited for this game, that house just looks so good

It's running down my pants leg.
Oh my living arachnithid fuck, I can have so much fun building entire cities with that level of detail.
Each home would have its own personality, like "This home is incredibly clean and proper, as an obsessive compulsive agoraphobic lives here." Or "This place is a fucking dump because an alcoholic lives here with his two children that he regularly beats and doesn't care anymore. It also has no light sources because he won't get off his useless Apex ass and get a job."
That's racist.
Maybe if it was a human it would be able to do something right for once.
Human master race!
You know what I wish to be in this game?
I would love if there would be a system similar like in spore, where you can find people creations... I mean, built up planets (on your instances). The amount of fun I would have by razing their entire civilizations and enslaving whole race, then placing my thriving human master race society above the ashes of their lost planet, minning the crap out of their homeworld, polluting whole world, then when a planet would become a barren husk of once thriving beautiful world, I would pack my amazing heavy industry miracles and drop enslaved prisoners back on their devastated world.
I would LOOOOVE to do that !

Pfeh, humans, they're just dumb de-furred apes.

That's called EVOLUTION.
Now get back to the cage of my ZOO starship.

More like devolution, you two-legged swine.
Now let my flamer turn you into delicious bacon.
Every race apart from glorious humanity is either supposedly full of infighting, about to be full of infighting or insane and think they lost their wings when they came to be or some crazy nonsense like that.
While they do that, humanity and it's superiority as a species is exploring the stars and laying waste to inferior races AKA every other race in Starbound.
or insane and think they lost their wings when they came to be or some crazy nonsense like that.
They lost their ability to properly fly due to physics, and attribute it to a punishment from their Gods.

i know it's going to be changed but i really don't like the way the terrain looks right now, its really barren and uninteresting.

there was probably something really cool and interesting there before he came along and leveled it off to put his farm down
Starbound has a release date of supposedly Q1 2013, right? It sure is taking it's sweet, sweet time. Guess it's worth it if it's released more polished.
