Wow. Just wow. Established publishers/developers on Steam don't have to use Greenlight. If Starbound was the same dev team as Terraria, they could go straight to steam. Furthermore, before it was implemented there were already accepted titles that just weren't ready to be put on Steam yet. It's completely possible that Starbound was accepted pre-Greenlight. Furthermore again, you can still skip Greenlight and go straight to Valve the old way.

They aren't made by the same people. No. Bad. Stop it.
I hope this game's epic atmosphere isn't distorted by the placement of odd-fitting creatures such as the cat driving/biologically controlling a robot. That's just a bit silly when I'm landing on a planet. And if there are biological machines, I expect to see the civilization that they reside in, instead of a bunch of cat-robots roaming a planet. They need to be doing something other than waiting to be slaughtered by the player. I don't know much about this game and I intend to keep it that way, but has the presence of cities and other constructs been talked about yet?

I don't know, I would be okay with Cat Robots...
Since people are talking about a beta (assuming there will be one), will the beta be open to actual players or just a select few or what?
If so that's good enough for me then, this is one of my most anticipated games of this year. Basically going to just roll a Human and drop some alien scum.

Welp, time to nuke it from orbit.
You know I hope this game has NPCs like Terraria did. That was a great feature, it would be a shame to lose it. The space setting opens the door for a bunch of new ones too. You could have guards for your base, a bartender, a scientist, and so much more.
i just hope they don't walk into lava lakes
Or steal the first goddamned house you build. OH YEAH FRANK/CHRIS/STEPHEN/THOMAS THE GUIDE, JUST MOVE RIGHT THE FUCK INTO THE SHELTER I SLAVED AWAY ALL GODDAMNED DAY ON.
Or steal the first goddamned house you build. OH YEAH FRANK/CHRIS/STEPHEN/THOMAS THE GUIDE, JUST MOVE RIGHT THE FUCK INTO THE SHELTER I SLAVED AWAY ALL GODDAMNED DAY ON.
It somehow gets funnier when you build a house right next to hell and the guide suddenly moves in there.
It somehow gets funnier when you build a house right next to hell and the guide suddenly moves in there.
Happened to me EVERY time before the house designation system was put in. Except it was the Merchant.
It somehow gets funnier when you build a house right next to hell and the guide suddenly moves in there.
I would usually dig a 5x8 hole in the ground, put a background in, wall it off, and seal the guide in there for whenever, if ever, he's needed. Or in the case of my last world, I flew 2200 feet up, hit the roof of the world, and built him a home there. never to be seen again
NPC that move into my cell, they become my bitch. but i'd put the NPC housing that high sometimes. it was funny to watch the wyverns tear their asses up.
Honestly I liked the guide after the update where he told you how to craft things if you brought him raw materials. From that point onward, I appreciated him.
Well yeah. But before then.. just.. most useless character in the history of.. of.. stuff.
Here's some actual content wahoo! Tiy posted this on twitter https://twitter.com/Tiyuri/status/299658291812900864
How are they going to light those candles on the moon?
How are they going to light those candles on the moon?
Space matches.
How are they going to light those candles on the moon?
Space witchcraft. Alternatively, would it be possible to slowly feed the candle oxygen with a compressed air tank so that it had stuff to burn, or would it dissipate in the atmosphere too fast?
