The others, sure, but I really don't find the Bad Moon to be very childish.
That gel is coming out of its eyes!
Except, Terraria itself had some pretty creepy shit. Terraria zombies were considerably more creepy than Minecraft ones. And then there's the shit in the corruption.
And sacrificing people to summon dark gods.
And then kill them for loot.

Yea i would call that kinda creepy, and I love the ideas for the virorbs

Only the monster that won.
Moon is a creepy motherfucker, same with mind worms.
And the orbs have a too simplistic visual design to look childish, in my opinion.
we need large space amazons.

The bad moon is stupid IMO. Why would an alien creature look like a phase of our moon? Sure there are other moons in the galaxy but its just...dumb. Its pretty creepy with the jelly thing in its mouth, but its base appearance just ruins it for me.
And the mind worms seemed pretty cool, but they didn't seem very creepy looking to be honest.

Why does it matter? Why does the game have so many penguins? It stylistically fits the game; as long as it isn't some glaring clash with the visual style I am fine with it in the game.
at this point i wouldn't mind a pre order offer that comes with some goodies.
maybe a TF2 hat

I just thought it would be more like Terraria is all. Didn't think it was going for the "cutesy" aspect.
i hope guns and weapons in this will actively show on the player when you're walking around
its one of the things i didnt like about terraria
They will

the mindworms are pretty fucking creepy if you think about what they do to you
Oh neat, apparently the "modding" will be similar to Dwarf Fortress, with things similar to "raws"
Unfortunate(?) News

Also this:

after reading that news update announcing only monthly wallpaper updates, I'm getting a nasty sinking feeling in my gut that they really DON'T have any more info to share with us.
Please god don't let this become another Black Mesa Source.

It's possible, but I think it's more probably to do with the fact that creating art for a video game and also making a high-quality wallpaper every week doesn't leave much time for anything else. Though, they could have tried making fortnightly wallpapers, I don't think they really needed to allow four times longer to make each wallpaper.
A quick update on what each member of the team is working on at the moment!
Kyren‘s been hard at work putting the finishing touches on object integration and tweaking the netcode; it’s now at a point that online play is very very smooth and seamless. Net play has been in for a while, but it wasn’t featured in the last update because we wanted it to be more about the fantastic lighting she did.
Among making various assets, Tiy‘s actually been working more on the code side of things – defining and inputting assets, setting to work on putting as many finished things as possible into the game for testing.
Omni is specifically working on creatures; defining their AI and behaviours and recently got flying creatures working. Flying creatures were a problem because we have winged creatures, which have to move a specific way to look right. The solution we came up with for winged creatures in particular is pretty ingenious, maybe we’ll be able to show it to you in a future update!
George has gotten lots of random armors done, along with some creatures and object work to keep things varied. The random armors in particular are a very hard and lengthy process, so great job George!
Legris the Tree Master is focusing mainly on the biome side of things – parallax, plant and tree (big surprise!) production. Right now he’s concepting a system for dynamic trees, which could mean trees being much more varied.
Lastly, I (Rho) have been working mostly on creature production, inparticular on the contest winners, as well as various other things. Congratulations, by the way!

That ape better be a playable race.
Oh god the excitement, right back up
So long as those maniacs don't blow it all up, i'm ok with apes as a playable race.
Also, dynamically-generated trees sound amazing; if we had something like that in a 3D game, it'd be the next step up from SpeedTree (software that makes tree models).
wow this has gotten quite some progress since i last checked
bad moon looks awesome
That crystal tree on right looks both funny and awesome. I must however say I'm afraid the game may seem too pixely in large resolutions. We have to wait though.
What if they returned the sprites to their original size and just extended the viewport?

Please excuse the artifacts.
I made Tiy in a match of air buccaneers.
he's a pretty sweet dude.
yeah so far with terraria thats what it did if you went and increased your resolution.
