I like the smaller blocks.
What if they returned the sprites to their original size and just extended the viewport? Please excuse the artifacts.
Keep them the size they are, pull the view out a bit more anyway. Get more detail out of it. Or at least appear that there's more detail
Terraria handled view extending just find so why shouldn't this. Obviously it's going to be bigger then the scale of that picture in his post, but it looks really ugly in full size on my 1920x1080. Something in between looks good.
I don't think you guys get what I mean. The artist who created the sprites took some shortcuts by scaling them four times larger than they originally were, which means you can scale any screenshot down to 25% and not lose any detail at all. Instead of making all of the sprites bigger, I'm saying that they should keep the the original size so that you can see more.
I'm hoping you'll be able to set the scale of things, like 1 px of each sprite takes up a certain amount onscreen. Some of their screenshots seem to have 1 px on a sprite = 3 px on screen, some have two (I think), and this one has four.
Using a high resolution becomes cheating in PvP though.
Using a high resolution becomes cheating in PvP though.
You are the reason why Diablo II doesn't natively support 16:9 and 16:10. This game isn't about fucking PvP, that's just a feature in the game. [editline]14th April 2012[/editline] I'm still wearing a santa hat.
Using a high resolution becomes cheating in PvP though.
Who cares about pvp? The way resolution works shouldn't be totally fucked over because a few people think it's unfair for pvp.
If you're organizing a pvp you can always just set a limit everyone has to apply to.

I can do it too. Improperly quoting someone is not a valid argument.
Yeah, and I'm p sure you aren't going to have to have a high end PC to play it anyway.

[editline]15th April 2012[/editline]
Yeah, and I'm p sure you aren't going to have to have a high end PC to play it anyway.
PC isn't the problem though. I, for instance, have a pretty big monitor and a pretty good PC, but because I don't want to spend 300 dollars on a new monitor, I can't play at higher resolutions than 1360*768, because I'd rather not have my screen cut off on the sides and bottom.
"Let's ruin the enjoyment of others who can't afford to have higher resolution monitors in favour of the game." - Onyx3173 I can do this all night.
That didn't even make sense. Also you don't need to spend $300 on a monitor.
"Let's ruin the enjoyment of others who can't afford to have higher resolution monitors in favour of the game." - Onyx3173 I can do this all night.
Have you ever played America's Army 3? If you aspect ratio wasn't 16:10 (I think) it would add black bars to the screens and it was made even more retarded by the fact it was just an overlay. Point being, it was stupid a shit and no game should ever fuck their users over simply because they have a nice monitor.
"Let's ruin the enjoyment of others who can't afford to have higher resolution monitors in favour of the game." - Onyx3173 I can do this all night.
really? who gives a shit. if it's anything like terraria pvp is a really secondary concern besides how hard is it to just have an optional fog of war at some forced distance
I mean, I played some PvP in Terraria against my friend, and I got really fucked over because I was forced to play at 1360x768, while he played at 1920x1080.
I mean, I played some PvP in Terraria against my friend, and I got really fucked over because I was forced to play at 1360x768, while he played at 1920x1080.
Well then fucking tell him to turn down his res. There's no reason to impose a limitation on users that have the hardware. If you have a smaller monitor you will be at a disadvantage in every single game. In FPS games more pixels means it's easier to hit players. So should developers force everyone to play at 800x600 to make sure it's a level playing field? It's dumb. This isn't how technology advances. If people keep crying about being left behind, it is probably time to upgrade. Oh it costs money; so does everything in life. Many games now require DX11. XP users can cry all they want, but face it, technology develops. If you don't adopt newer technology you will be left behind.
"Let's ruin the enjoyment of others who can't afford to have higher resolution monitors in favour of the game." - Onyx3173 I can do this all night.
I have a small 1024x768 monitor, and I can assure you that my enjoyment will not be ruined because some people can see further than me.
I have so much hype for this and cant wait until a beta comes out. Any predictions when the beta or the game is going to be released?

When you design games, it makes sense to design them with a good accessibility range... and it's not like Starbound needs to be a Directx11 game lol. But no, Starbound's pvp is an auxiliary feature, and I would not be impressed if the main gameplay/graphics were negatively affected by people who feel disadvantaged in pvp.
I don't even think I'll be doing PvP in this game. Just like in Terraria, I'll get a small group of friends and just explore and enjoy myself. Infact, PvP in a game like this doesn't really excite me that much. I'd rather just explore and enjoy what the game has to offer.
I would only PVP if you could seamlessly travel between planets and have interplanetary battles.

Plus it's not very common for indie games to take advantage of DX11 anyways.
I don't even think I'll be doing PvP in this game. And we're the only people I personally know who ever played pvp on Terraria. It's good for those who actually like it but on games like this it just doesn't really feel at all necessary.
I never did PvP in Terraria. Adventuring and spelunking was way too much fun. Anyway, bringing this guy's post up again if someone knows anything
I have so much hype for this and cant wait until a beta comes out. You can tell by the design, which I think is awesome.
That would be cubeworld you're thinking of, haven't heard much info about that one either.
Oh, yeah. Nothing playable has come out of that either so no wonder I forgot about it.
