I'm happy to see a game that's so pack full of procedural content that it would last forever, course that's what they said about Spore.
I'm happy to see a game that's so pack full of procedural content that it would last forever, course that's what they said about Spore.
Yeah... back in 2005, and by a company that is owned by EA.
Anyone know if this will be on steam?
The Loop Points Squeeze Together. I-----I I----I I---I I--I I-I O I = Loop Points - = Everything in between. O = The core. Pretty simple.
despite the disagrees this could work, but i have a feeling it'd be quite a hassle to get working right. and then factor in the rare material down there would have to be more abundant. the surface map would have to be pretty huge to do it this way i guess.
Anyone know if this will be on steam?
I'm pretty sure Tiy said during one of the irc interviews that they wanted to get it on Steam when they released it.
I remember when they said that Spore would be a MMO
I remember when spore looked good
I remember when spore looked good
i remember getting to the center of the galaxy and then nuking a path through grox territory with my new found power.
The Loop Points Squeeze Together. I----

the OP must have a conniption every time a movie trailer
Actually, the OP is not in a situation where the OP ever sees a movie trailer. If I want to know what a movie is about, I have to first go to the theater, then look at the posters, then get back somewhere with internet access, and look up the movie. That's a bit time consuming, so I just ignore theaters and use netflix. I'm sure after this experience I'll have to start being just as jaded and callous as you people, though, since this 'marketing' tactic is apparently just fine with the population that produces the content.
You don't have to be jaded and cynical to know assuming that game will be like Baldur's Gate is a bad idea since the term "RPG" covers a very wide spectrum of games. I----I I---I I--I I-I O I = Loop Points - = Everything in between. O = The core. Pretty simple.
I can't think of a way that this would make any sense without being some Elder God with impossible geometries that drive people mad.
I can't think of a way that this would make any sense without being some Elder God with impossible geometries that drive people mad.
What the fuck did you quote?
I can't think of a way that this would make any sense without being some Elder God with impossible geometries that drive people mad.
I think said elder god inflicted said geometries on your post somehow. I for one welcome our new elderitch masters.
I can't think of a way that this would make any sense without being some Elder God with impossible geometries that drive people mad.
just spin the diagram around the O in your head, it'll work and make sense.
the loop shortening won't happen in stages so I don't really understand how it will work if you just go a bit further down, will it just remove some of the ground to shorten the map-loop? It feels weird. I think they should just do the classic Terraria way for simplicity, hopefully with something cool at the bottom. Hopefully deeper too.
The thing is there's really no need for the depth-squeeze thing. Think about it, has anything man has ever built been subject to such effects? There's no way you could dig deep enough to experience those effects, even far into the future. Of course, the relatively small circumference of the map implies less depth, but my point is it's going to be far more natural and intuitive to simply not have the squeeze and just have it terraria style.
I think something like what Terraria has works better, some kind of hell/core of the planet
I am a bit doubtful about unlimited players. Would you even be able to host your own server? Well apparently you would. This game sounds very big like it would contain everything.
Why would you not be able to host your own server? And the unlimited players just means that there's no engine limit to the playercount. Doesn't mean that you won't lag with 500 billion players in your server.
^ it makes it so you can, still doesn't mean you should
Even though you can have a trillion players on a server it doesn't mean it will be better though, i think a player cap of 30 players per world is enough But the how-much-your-server-can-handle cap is good if you are a modder and want to mod something big... Actually there are going to be mod tools right?

It's about a mile down on a large world if I recall correctly and it you consider hell like the mantle of the Earth then it's just 1/7th scale vertically. (Well 1/7th to 1/35th I think it was but still.) Although that wouldn't work for all planets. Some objects such as the moon are supposed to be solid all the way through.
It would be pretty funny if one of the worlds turned out to be Terraria
i wonder if we'll have fly-able vehicles while on planets... (helicopters, planes, anyone?)
i wonder if we'll have fly-able vehicles while on planets... I would imagine so.

I can see my self spending unhealthy ammounts of time in this.
Well I guess I know what I'm doing this summer. Goodbye Terarria and Minecraft
It's coming out this summer? Welp, there goes cooking class.
I think the real question is, why are other devs so unfriendly? I know why! It's because you guys are just more awesome over all.
What is it with you guys saying it's coming out in summer? It's not even in beta yet.
