when we die if we only get a few great mystery questions answered. i'm gonna ask who the first asshole was as one of mine. something tells me they will be from egypt.
It's be the first group of people with a form of hierarchy and communication that's more than just "OOK" As soon as we learned language, we learned how to talk shit to people.

All the planets we've seen so far if I'm not mistaken are fertile in someway, any more hospitable worlds in mind? Perhaps even asteroid belts?
Alien diseases would actually be kind of neat, you can randomly contract some random disease and it has some negative modifier until you cure it, an environmental suit could protect/prevent. Then craft a cure somehow using ingredients that counter it's effects. Maybe even whole planets that you can't enter without some kind of gas mask.
So, have sex with alien babes, get space herpes?

Also wonder if we will see an anomalous planet where dirt is extremely rare, but gems and ores are found everywhere you step.

I wonder if we'll see world with ruined buildings and such. Might be a pain to navigate a ruined city though.
If they have roads of some sort in the ruined metropolis, you probably won't need to jet over the buildings.
http://playstarbound.com/introducing-the-avians/
Hello guys, Today I want to introduce our first playable race, the Avians. Avian culture revolves around the worship of Kluex, the winged god of the Aether. Avians believe they were stripped of their wings as punishment for entering the mortal world and will only regain their wings in the afterlife should they achieve absolution through worship.Throughout their history Avians have always been a primitive race, making little scientific progress. Avian numbers were beginning to dwindle when a superior race took pity and bestowed the gift of advanced technology upon them. This new found tech allowed the Avians to flourish and spread across the universe, building temples of worship as they go. Avians soldiers are trained from birth to be fierce warriors and will protect their temples at any cost. Avian weaponry may look primitive at first glance, but the incorporation of advanced technology makes them particularly formidable. Avian generals forge wings for themselves that function much like jetpacks. Though rare, Avians have been known to stray from their religious culture. Dubbed the grounded, these Avians become outcasts and find solace amongst other races.
Aztec Warrior Birdmen? Sounds amazing.
Where is that fucking water demo that was promised two weeks ago.
http://playstarbound.com/introducing-the-avians/
Am I the only one thinking this? I will make an old looking Avian and call myself Grey Voice.
I need some lizard or fish action. Kinda wonder if they shouldn't put a human race in at all, or make them only enemies.
I need some lizard or fish action. Kinda wonder if they shouldn't put a human race in at all, or make them only enemies.
an evil human enemy like [sp]CERBERUS[/sp] from Mass Effect 3 would actually be kinda cool. it'd make humans seem like intruders in space, fucking up peaceful planets and destroying landscapes
Not gonna lie; I got pretty hyped seeing the addition of Choz- I MEAN AVIANS. here's hoping we see a robot/android race. So I can be a robot in medieval Knight's armor for maximum awesome output :v:
Speaking of Chozo, I just can't the Hissho as bad guys because of them. Also because of the Yehat. Wait, wrong thread.
an evil human enemy like [sp]CERBERUS[/sp] from Mass Effect 3 would actually be kinda cool. it'd make humans seem like intruders in space, fucking up peaceful planets and destroying landscapes
Perhaps they could be a sort of imperialist PMC that seeks to gather materials and manufacture stuff, driven by the urge to make profit margins and generally have ALL the things. Also, I want playable raptors.
I just though about how awesome it would be to be different races and spawn on different places. I wonder how good the PvP will be.
an interview with Gamespot a few days ago revealed a few new interesting tidbits:
The Start 'Starbound's story-driven, planet-hopping adventure kicks off as you narrowly avoid being destroyed alongside your doomed homeworld. Set adrift in the cosmos, you crash into an abandoned space station, which soon becomes a central hub for exploring the galaxy. "Players will be tasked with repairing this station and bringing it back to life whilst investigating those behind the homeworld attack," Brice explains.' The Ship 'There's even a bar, though the use of which is somewhat secret and not entirely safe. Starbound's station hub is also where you'll access social features and invite friends to play.' Item 'The Kinetic Manipulator, for example, lets you rip huge chunks out of the terrain and hurl them around.
The kinetic manipulator sounds fucking awesome.
With regards to the "Terraria should somehow show up in Starbound" issue, I think as an easter egg Starbound should somehow check to see if you own Terraria and if so, pick a world at random from your Terraria world folder and make a planet based off that. I know it doesn't do much good saying that here though.
I hope "Planet Cracking" will be a thing in this... It would be a one time use thing where you'd drill half-way into a planet and deplete all it's resources... Like in that Start Trek reboot.
Whoa what, the story actually sounds like it could have potential. Then again, the only games I've played that had something to do with space were JRPGs like Star Ocean and Xeno series so I'm probably expecting too huge plot twists and such.
I hope picking planets and changing them will be some kind of in game GUI, I didn't like exiting the world and picking another one to switch, kind of killed immersion for me.
I hope you won't actually be able to mine with a drill or a pickaxe, but instead mine with a ship or vehicle. Get this big vehicle and take a huge chunk out of the earth and harvest it.
I wonder if the darkened outside is just for the sake of the screenshot, or will some interiors be like in, say, Simon's Quest or the 2nd Zelda game. We'll see I guess :v:
I hope picking planets and changing them will be some kind of in game GUI, I didn't like exiting the world and picking another one to switch, kind of killed immersion for me.
Wouldn't it make more sense to leave the planet's surface and, I dunno, get into orbit before choosing your next planet?
I wonder if they'll have some kinda galaxy map in that regard?
I wonder if they'll have some kinda galaxy map in that regard?
last time I checked they said the galaxy map would be non-graphical. I sure as hell hope they change their minds.
How else would they do it; text adventure?! You stand at the holographic display, the console lights up as you move your hands towards it. >Search for: Habitable planets >Search in: Horsehead Nebula A list of 32 habitable planets in the Horsehead Nebula section of the galaxy pops up.
Habitable planets in Horsehead Nebula *32 planets and not a single Nandos restaurant on any of them*
"Orders Captain?" "Screw it, i'm ordering Dominoes" >Search for: Dominoes outlets >Search in: Michigan Hopefully it won't be like that, despite my humorous rendition of it.
