It doesn't so much matter, if we can compress water easily there are more building opportunities.
There are some pretty good traps you can make, such as using a burst of water to throw enemies away and digging traps.
And the end of that road comes pretty quick. To a casual player it might take quite a while of real time to finish your PvE progression, but to a real gamer it won't take long.
You and I have totally different definitions of a real gamer. I love to play and win games just as much as the next guy but my goal in terraria wasn't to win, it was to sandbox build THEN beat the bosses after I was satisfied with the world. People who just straight go through the game with the objective of beating it, while touching (but not exploring) the sandbox elements past necessity, fall under the hardcore gamer in my book.
Definitely going to get this when it is released. I have a thing for building underwater arctic hideouts.

The way I see it, all the neat endgame accessories and a lot of the materials are almost necessary for the sandbox building part of the game. Especially some of the endgame accessories though.

The wings come into mind. Especially if you can't get access to a floating island. I had no access to one in my home world, so falling damage was a serious threat until after I farmed up enough for my wings.

Why do you think I spent 25 hours fiddling around in my world? I was exploring and terraforming, preparing arenas, building huts at the start of every biome... I wasn't powering through at all, but to me at least 70% of Terraria is PvE content. You want to build, play Minecraft. That's what it's all about. Minecraft doesn't have the same draw to progress in PvE. The main reason you fight, hunt and explore is to get more resources to build more and more interesting/intricate things.
i just hope this doesnt get abandoned as terraria
Looks like there trying to pack as much as they can in before they finish, from what they CLAIM, it will have more content at release.

Oh god oh man, this is amazing.
Man, I am going to dedicate my first character into biology.

It's going to be harder NOT wanting to dedicate every character to biology :v:
Skeletal Afrobot? Tank-Treads Camerahead? BETENTACLED DIVERMAN?!
This monster generator is AMAZING.

Are they just using the generator for the creatures they are going to add, or does this mean procedurally generated creatures?
Are they just using the generator for the creatures they are going to add, or does this mean procedurally generated creatures?
If memory serves right they expressed interest in using procedural generation to make variants of already existing creatures.
Can't wait to capture all of a planet's population and force horrible genetic modifications to turn them into abominations!
I can only imagine their attacks
Have they said anything about cost? I'm hoping it'll be around the 20 dollar prices range.
My hope is 10 like Terraria, but for the amount of content going in, I wouldn't be surprised if it went for 20.
The wings come into mind. Especially if you can't get access to a floating island. I had no access to one in my home world, so falling damage was a serious threat until after I farmed up enough for my wings.
The wings, the endgame boots, and the endgame version of the cloud in a bottle are specifically the ones I was thinking of. With those you have a vertical range of over 200 blocks iirc and you take no falling damage.

I'd pay £15 for this, maybe £19.99 if they announce more cool stuff.
Now I'm really hyped, think of all the possibilities, it also means less work on the artist's part by only needing to make parts of the body.

It's the same amount of work for the artists, less work for programmers and designers since the generator is already up.
I'd pay $45 for it.
I'd pay $45 for it.
Well let's not get too carried away with this gag.
I'd pay £15 for this, maybe £19.99 if they announce more cool stuff.
20 quid sounds reasonable for what this game's offering.
45 bucks would be WAY out of the price range, it looks like a good game and all, but still not a 45 dollar game.
25 would be the max I'd pay, and if it was 25, I'd wait for a sale.
I'd be willing to go as high as $30 personally. But no more than that. I tend to avoid buying games that are priced higher than that unless I really want them and anything above $40 even then is typically a no buy.
I would only pay a nickel for this
Not because it's bad, but if it costs 5 cents that would be fucking awesome
I will get this, it's just a matter of price. I might treat it like a lot of games I own and hope for a sale somewhere. If there's a nice preorder incentive I'd get it then too.
I never bought a game for more than 20$ (Excluding valve games, because valve games are awesome) and I still have most of the AAA 50$+ games I wanted
I will never buy a game for more than 20$ because of steam sales
