I want to be able to play as these parasites. Or it could be cool if it was like a separate game mode "bug hunt" it could be called. Everyone is dumped on a planet and cannot leave until all parasites are killed, or all of the players are dead.

Hey, let me tell you something. Nothing's new under the sun. Every concepts has been used, seen, played or read before. However, Indie developers usually shape it in a way that's completely new and interesting, and that's what I'd call Terraria (It was called a Minecraft clone, so much for that) or Starbound.
I wonder if they'll have race customization.
I'd fucking love it, despite the fact that it'll allow people to make uguuuu~~~ catgirls and stuff.

Voxel sidescroller what? It's a um... Platformer? 2d platformers by their very nature tend to be sidescrolling in nature? And what the hell are you on about with voxels? Voxels are a 3d construct, not 2d.

You'll get that with any game that allows customization. But honestly who really cares if they do that or not? If they're on your server, kick them, otherwise just ignore them. Doesn't really harm you or anyone else to just let them do it.

I know of three.
You could in theory make your own sprite character, basically making a skin for yourself. Unless of course they prevent that being placed in-game.

I kinda wanna expand on what I meant by "customization"
I think players should have access to several races. Human race, lizard-ish race, canine race, feline race, bird race... etc.
Players would be able to customize the shit out of their character after that. For humans, they could change skin color, hair type, face shape, eye color, etc. With furred creatures like canines and felines, you'd be able to pick ear shape, furpattern design, fur colors, tail type, and so on.
Body size probably won't be an option, because then they'd have to make a ton of different variants of the same armor, and fuck up a variety of other things.

If it's done with XNA like Terraria was, it may be difficult to do that cause XNA packages sprites and images in an oddball way. Texture packs for Terraria exist but they're really difficult to use compared to something like Minecraft.

It probably has a parts generator, with numerous arms and legs/bodies and most likely a colour scheme generator so everything doesn't look retarded.
