If anyone is interested, someone did a first look kinda thing on the game:
I'm very impressed at how involved the Dev team is with the community. I'm still pretty damn excited for this game.
Elaborate
Friend's account. [editline]22nd February 2012[/editline] And his house. He forced me to, him and my other best friend and my brother play it all the time.
Honestly, i'm a sucker for co-op games, they're just too fun with a couple of friends or at a small lan because of the amount of dicking about, hell, most of the time me and my mates spent in terraria WAS passively knocking each other down & essentially trolling each other M: Come down, nothing's down here just water. F: Okay *F proceeds to fall 500 feet to his death* Me & Jack was just laughing it up because we didn't think he'd fall for it. I also haven't seen this picture anywhere in this thread so i'll post it
You'll be able to build dropships and drop pods. Whilst you wont control them in space as such, they will land on the planet and have unique properties. Dropships are used by teams who want to arrive on a planet together. Pods are for players arriving alone :)
I'm really looking forward to this game, but some controllable space battles would really be something. Gahh, why am I such a sucker for these games:/
Seems pretty cool, hope it turns out awesome like Terraria.
I also haven't seen this picture anywhere in this thread so i'll post it *pic*
Absolutely loving that HUD! Had great fun with my brother in Terraria, definitely looking forward to hearing more on this.
I hope ships play kind of like in Cortex Command.
They already said we won't have any direct control over them sadly. I would have liked to see this too.
Going to update the OP with all this tomorrow, when I get back home. Looking forward to this even more since all the info you people managed to dig up.

The character seems so out of place, art wise.
I hope ships play kind of like in Cortex Command.
And explode just as violently on impact
This game looks great, it is something I'd get for a few friends and play co-op with them. I like the idea of space exploration and going out to far away galaxies to save people from some savage aliens.
They already said we won't have any direct control over them sadly. I would have liked to see this too.
Well it can change? Right? right..? :(
inb4 it doesn't even last a year like Terraria.
From my understanding of pods, wouldn't they crash land on the planet not giving you a way to get back home? Or would it be more like a moon lander, where it gives you a way back?
I have 20 Dollars set away for this one (No price yet, But I would guess 14.99)
From my understanding of pods, wouldn't they crash land on the planet not giving you a way to get back home? Or would it be more like a moon lander, where it gives you a way back?
I'd imagine they're more like moon landers or shuttles from Star Trek.
I'd imagine they're more like moon landers or shuttles from Star Trek.
That would make more sense. Bummer that we can't control the ships. That would mean the expansive galaxy is watered down to a menu system. This could still be a good game, though.
Terraria was pretty damn fun, specially for the fact I did my whole playthrough with friends so we built and we fought bosses and we had a lot of fun. Only real problem is that after a while, besides building, Terraria pretty much loses it's appeal. I kinda lost the interest on it once I got the Wall of Flesh killed. Starbound promises a lot, and I hope it really works out as intended, I cant wait to get multiplayer going on. Getting on drop ships, deplying a squad of mongoloids and proceed to literally DESTROY the whole world just sound like so much fun How space navigation, ship space management and world generation would work anyways?
And explode just as violently on impact
And it's fragment fly off and kill more people

So basically just like Spore and Minecraft, loading chuncks n shit? This sound pretty good.
I took this from the forums: Honestly I think they're just gonna make another game just LIKE Terraria, get all the profit from people who want more of Terraria, and repeat the process.
Honestly, the only similatirys between Terraria and Starbound is the same Artist, Dimension and terraforming.
Of course the Artist of Terraria isn't the artist of Starbound. But I'd like to stay optimistic about this game, all of the devs are pretty in touch with their fans already, seem pretty passionate about making a good game, rather than just making a quick buck

That's a really impressive amount of people.
-snip nvm
