They're completely different and are not even remotely alike.
What I'm liking so far is that it looks like it doesn't feel like Terraria at all.
One of the things I was worried about is that it'll look and play like a Terraria mod, and not a new game. But after watching that water tech demo video, it definitely seems like it's different.
I can't wait for this to come out.

To be fair Fluros would fit the alien theme of Starbound pretty well.
I hope they will act similarly too, in the sense of being able to grow from any kind of liquid, and giving them basic tasks, whatever that would be.

Release most likely at end of year. If there IS a beta, it'll be closed. Tiy has expressed the dislike of releasing an unfinished game and letting people who buy it do the testing.

Go ahead and rate me dumb, but its unconfirmed and I don't really trust people who claim to have inside information whilst not being on the dev team.
It would be incredibly pointless to spread 'rumors' to the mods of the forum and not announce it themselves. Just having mods announce that on the forums would cause the fan Dissapointment people say would happen if the mod team announced it themselves.
So until someone from the dev team actually announces that it will be delayed (Like Tiy, or someone else equally important) I just have to assume that the Starbound forum mods are talking out of their asses.
How many times, with big games included have had rumours spread about delays and/or cancellations just for it to turn out to be fake info leaked by someone who wanted to feel important.

Fuck's sake, quit getting your panties in a bind about this. There's still 5 months left in the year, you can get a lot done with that. The end of the year is a pretty likely candidate for release, because you get more sales during Christmas time and they seem to be making good progress besides. If it's not released at the end of the year, big deal. This is shaping up to be a great game, no reason to not get excited about the release.

Who cares? The date is so far in the future that it's not like you're going to feel sad if it's pushed back.
Last Quarter 2012 is a good guess, especially with the progress on the game so far.
Also, note the "Most Likely". It means Maybe, which means it's not certain, which means it's a guess, and everybody can give a guess. He never said it was sure. he said Likely.
With Tiy's behavior its safe to assume they will be open to delaying the game until the end of the year to ensure its top quality when released. Seeing as how we are just now getting to see some relatively early gameplay footage and basic mechanics fleshed out, one can assume that the game is still not in a state to be released during Summer.

I keep telling you man. Go to the IRC and ask anyone there. It may not be a Dev saying it but there's bound to be truth behind it. Besides, expecting it at the end of the year is FAR FAR more realistic. Have you wondered why they've shown so little, why they JUST announced they're publishing Wanderlust, a game to help development of Starbound? How about the fact they've not shown us any gameplay featuring the other races?

I feel the same way man. It's best to not let it get to you, all you can do is wait and see what they'll say, it's obvious they don't want to say anything either out of fear of negative backlash. Or possibly that it may be pushed even further back. When I heard the game was pushed back I was pissed off too. Because they made the website and announced the game's official title back in February. And if they had so little progress on the game itself, it was a little foolish to announce it so soon. People were getting hyped back at the beginning of the year, and obviously that hype has died down noticeably now. So I hope the Chucklefish team didn't inadvertently shoot themselves in the foot from all of this.[/COLOR][/FONT]
