Interesting that its not really space-y. Its just a normal looking house.
i love the concept of this game and i love the art style. i can already tell i'm gonna be clocking in many hours playing this.
i think it looks great. i love that they went with a more isometric look with furniture and objects. gives everything a lot more style and depth.
I just noticed, the counter on the right is at an opposite angle to everything else. That's going to bug the shit out of me if it stays like that in the full game. Also the angle is too wide.
Well what do you expect a space fridge to look like? It's still an insulated box with a cooling system in the back.
When did I mention the fridge? I mean its just a normal wooden house.
i want a knife storm on the metal planet. or killer high gravity rain.
Liquid methane or ethanol might be amusing, assuming the game can model a flammable substance.

Plus it just.. well.. it's a nice feature, that it's not only super-futuristic stuff
Christ, it's so hard to wait for something so amazing :/
I continue to worry that they will be crushed under the magnitude of this project and the even grander expectations of the customers. Or that it will be forever entrenched in feature creep development mode.

One major content addition, some bugfixes and a holiday event, and then all work on it stops. I don't really see it happening, I mean it seems like there's a lot more that can be done with Starbound and if he gets sick of working on X update, he can take a break and work on Y some instead. But damnit, what happened with Terraria is not a good way to inspire confidence in your fans.

Apparently he never even got a c&d from Nintendo for his game before Terraria, Super Mario Bros. X. He just lost interest or something and took it down then started working on Terraria.

I'm still going to buy Starbound, the game looks like oodles of fun and I'm a sucker for randomly generating things and science fiction settings, but I'll still be really concerned about him just getting bored one day and dumping everything.
Well I don't think you'll have to worry since Redigit isn't involved with Starbound in any way. He's working on some other game now that he has yet, as of now, to announce any actual information about.
In the back of my head, I have a fear of another Terraria happening. One major content addition, some bugfixes and a holiday event, and then all work on it stops..
lol http://terraria.wikia.com/wiki/Version_History (better wiki doesn't have patch history, sorry) Major stuff he added post-launch that I can think of right now: Vanity items Potions which includes potion brewing and plants used for potions Added more content to every biome(most notably Dungeon and Underworld) and biome-specific enemies Difficulty modes Buffs and debuffs More music new biomes items And of course, 1.1 Update that added Hard mode, new invasions, 3 biomes, 4 bosses, 3 new ores, 3 NPCs, Minecraft-like redstone, over 100 items, enemies etc. One major content update my ass. He probably tripled the content since release. Redigit is great and it would be awesome if he worked on Starbound too
Redigit may be a good programmer but he's not the greatest when he's known to up and stop updating his games without notice. (And in the case of SMBX he attempted to erase its existence from the internet but failed horribly.)
How do you give notice to stop working on a game "hey guys, im gonna be announcing me stopping work on terraria in a couple weeks, look forward to it!" he very clearly announced his stopping of Terraria's update
Yes. He announced he was stopping work on Terraria to spend time with his family. Then just 2-3 weeks later he announced he was working on a new game. If he no longer had time to work on Terraria because he was spending time with his family, he no longer had time to work on a new game either. And announcing work on it so soon after what he said looks pretty bad on him.
He doesn't have to work on a game if he doesn't want to. He could've seen Terraria as finished, and wanted to start a new venture which he thought would be more worth his time aka Starbound. Trust me, I wanted Terraria to stay updated as much as the next guy, and I don't particularly agree with how he went about abandoning it (he could've like, sold the source code to somebody fucks sake), but it's not like it's their duty to update games past bugs and glitches.

Actually if you read my post on the last page, that's apparently false. He chose to stop working on it and try to remove it from the internet. Whether it was him or someone else that started spreading the idea of Nintendo sending him a cease and desist letter however, I'm not sure anyone knows. REDIGIT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH STARBOUND IN ANY WAY. Was that spelled out clearly enough for you people that time?
Oh sorry, well then just take out the "aka starbound", my point still stand.

Turns out it was just a rumor. Thanks for clearing that up.
with two abandoned projects i'll wait till his next one is abandoned or updated more than 5 times before i go hey this could be worth playing. knowing redgit has no stock in starbound comforts me. and i agree with many, he should at least go back and put a decent mod API in terraria and then call it quits. its so hard to implement and find good mods i only really know of 1 that i had any interest in trying which was the monster hunter one.
Liquid methane or ethanol might be amusing, assuming the game can model a flammable substance.
Sounds good for throwing Ewoks into.
I hate how everyone says they just abandoned Terraria. They made a full game, even brought out a big update, which is a lot more than you get for most games, and then they went on to the next project. That's normal. You can't expect a normal game developer to stick with one game for the rest of their life.

Anyone can tell you they could have put a lot more expansion into the game, but instead they abandoned it. It's fine to move onto other projects but only when you have left a game in proper straits which they did not.
