Is that an arabian on a pink hoverboard?
That's amazing.
I would had been surprised if hoverboards didn't make it into the game.

:/
osama bin laden confirmed
I'm more interested in those short imp-wendigo folks walking around.
they're just npcs, dood
The hoverboard animation for the people is a bit lacking, but I'm sure it'll be reworked
I don't know why you guys assumed its a hoverborad when it clearly has wheels.
Those are some oval-ass wheels then.
they're just npcs, dood
He's not talking about the penguins, don't say dood.
i'll use my pink hover board to outrun a bunch of punks in their car. :v:
edit: forgot to mention they wind up covered in shit.
I don't know why you guys assumed its a hoverborad when it clearly has wheels.
Because they don't look like wheels, and one of them is.... well... hovering?

You can jump on a skateboard.
That being said, I stand with the hoverboard crowd. I won't be that shocked if they turn out not to be, though.
Hoverboards have those weird pads on the bottom too. And those are some very flat wheels.
Why are you guys debating this? They're obviously Hoverboards, remember Back to the Future?

Woah, this is awesome
Sounds way too good to be true

When I think about it, everything about Starbound sounds way too good to be true
They're probably taking a page out of Terraria's book with updating. Because they released Terraria with the huge amount of hype, tons of sales.
Then there was a large update, which brought in a large group of sales.
Repeat until the Hallowed update.

The difference being is they're not going to drop the game within a year.

"If it sounds too good to be true, it is!" - those words are true most of the time, and I hope they won't be true for Starbound.
;_;

What are you talking about? They dropped the game after a year? You say that like its a bad thing, which it really isnt. He came with several content packs, for free, and then the last update was fucking huge, and also that awesome lightning update. Most games dont get that much new stuff in updates later on, so him "dropping it after a year", basically means "Him continuing to work on it for a year after release, without getting any more money"
Please, show me where he says he shall continue to update it for more than a year, and if you cant, show me other games that were continued for over a year after release, not counting DLC, that has huge content and game-changing updates. Then, if the norm is to continue a game for so long after release, you can complain about how he "Dropped the game after a year".
[editline]14th September 2012[/editline]
Also, what they say they are doing for Starbound, with endlessly updating it for as long as people are playing, is not done by any other game, except perhaps Minecraft, but that isnt even a finished game yet.

Actually the game continuing to be actively updated was a massive part of the reason it sold so well during sales.
No one posted this so...

He did drop it after a year, and that huge update also ended very quickly. Hard Mode turned into a large grind fest and focused on several bosses that were just robotic, beefed up versions of the originals. You can't sit there and tell me that final update was satisfying.
The problem is Red released the game too early to begin with, due to a leak, so we started with a unfinished game, and then he failed to realize the potential the game had, Red had promised alternate worlds you could travel to and a few other things. We will never see that. The end game of Terraria is EXTREMELY lackluster, and it burns out quick.
Furthermore gaslamp offered to take over Terraria to provide more content updates, but Red refused, decided to milk his game further, and now he's taking it a step further with a console port.

There's a difference between a game being finished, and a game being called finished. Minecraft being the latter because Notch is a lazy moron.
its a good thing notch isn't activley working on it much anymore, jeb is doing more of the work now cause notch codes when hes been drinking. >_> or something.
Notch is hardly a lazy moron.
Sure, minecraft is far from a finished game, but you make it sound like he didn't put any work into the game.
