So..wait. If there's a director mode in multiplayer, why waste time doing stuff when you could just basically get everything from a Director RIGHT off the bat? I could see an inventory system working like Terraria destined to fail if this happens, unless if Director mode disables cross-server saving for that character and makes a separate file in the server for that character.
Because getting stuff normally is literally half of the fun.

Why waste time playing the game when you can just use a save editor? :pwn:
Guys someone might abuse the system and cheat, don't let anyone have any fun!
i think you're getting this wrong
the director is an invisible force that controls certain things.
it isn't a physical character.
however i do see a problem with a director just spawning in huge cubes of resources.
i am currently thinking of a way to circumvent that.

Or you could just chill out and not worry about it. Chances are they'll have a setting for servers to require new characters if the host so desires.
Starbound's release can't come soon enough. ;_;
Anyway, among my favorite post-release features is basically a mode that let's you play god.
Oh god yes, this stuff was so much fun back in the days of Neverwinter Nights, it's a shame so few games try something like this, and even fewer do it well, because it really is incredibly fun.

i guess you're right
having admins give director rights is much better in my opinion
I am buying the shit out of this when it is released.
I have $20 stowed away just for this game. I have an extra few bucks I can scrounge up if it's like $25, but I don't see it being too crazy on the price.
i got about 50$ stashed for both cubeworld and starbound. i'm sure i'll enjoy both this holiday. along with those i may gift it to.
Tiy stated that the game would have a low price tag, but given he plans to expand the game indefinitely, I'd say 25, even 30 bucks is a fine.
i think cat mechs would be cool as a playable race.
anyone else have some cool race ideas?
SNAKE PEOPLE
or
CRAB PEOPLE
snakemen (snake people)

IT'S THE LEGENDARY BLACK BEAST OF AAARRRGGHH!!
Hmm, a playable Illithid race would be cool!
Personally I think aliens that look like Cthulhu would be a cool addition.

I like the way you think.

Illithids are basically humanoid Cthulhu things with psionic powers.
But they aren't green and don't have wings
Are creatures on the same planet going to have similar features to distinguish themselves from other planet inhabitants? Like one planet's creatures might mostly have clusters of eyes, while another's has creatures with similar color schemes.

That Cthulhu background Tiy or whoever that was used for their Twatter background when working on Terraria looked like it would've been a neat boss. I wish they'd have actually made it.
