Sorry if it's been asked but is there an actual release window? Like Spring 2013?
Nothing concrete, their hope is by the end of the year.
Sorry if it's been asked but is there an actual release window? Like Spring 2013?
Christmas season of 2153 approximately. Edit: This is a joke post, not me being sarcastic just to be clear.
Just watched the new building demo i want it NOW
guy's maybe tiy will see this thread and give us all beta access. HERE COME THE RAINBOWS!
I don't think that they'll be able to release anywhere remotely around Christmas. A lot of stuff still seems WIP.

I wonder if we'll have oxygen levels. Like on the ship and such, or planets without atmosphere.
Building is nice, but I want to see some combat... However, that seems to be the most unpolished thing at the moment if that recorded stream is anything to go by.

They have a ways to go.
dang but a dev actually said they're practically done when did they hire todd howard
dang but a dev actually said they're practically done when did they hire todd howard
They said they were practically done with the ENGINE. They're not done with the GAME itself. There's still a lot of gameplay work to be done, as well as those small details Tiy loves so much
well shit
well shit
Quite the opposite. If they were in a rush to get the game out, like a big name company would have a deadline set, the game would be a buggy piece of shit, we'd all hate it, and hardly anyone would be able to look past the blatant flaws. Tiy likes small details. He isn't the kind of guy to skimp out on touching up, fixing, re-touching up, and fixing them again. Once the game is polished down and perfect, he'll have it out. I know I'd rather play a gorgeous well polished game that took more time, but is flawless, than rush to play a game and have it fall apart in my hands like a bunch of bootleg legos.
Everything has flaws.
But there are Skyrim flaws, and minor flaws. Tiy wants there to only be the latter

Strange, this is the only game that I'm exited for. Every other AAA title seems boring when compared to the possibilities that Starbound can bring.
Well that's the thing isn't it? It's the fact that there ARE possibilities. It's the same reason people play minecraft and other open world sandboxes, it's because they're not confined to the same pattern every time.
For those who missed the stream http://media34.justin.tv/archives/2012-10-30/live_user_tiyuri_1351597478.flv
Strange, this is the only game that I'm exited for. Chasing the graphical fidelity made us skip lots of creative ideas, and only now when we're at comfortable graphical level, it only makes sense to push creative side of games.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Metnik
Edit: Oh, they're just out of order.
Strange, this is the only game that I'm exited for. Most games ni general don't even really appeal to me anymore and even those that do tend not to be ones I play for long before losing interest. Terraria though is one of the Steam games I've played most and Starbound is looking to be many times better so I'm hoping that it will make a good replacement. Looks like it will so far, even still being a bit unpolished as it is right now.
Stream in 1 video.
Stream in 1 video.
Wait that's not all of it, this doesn't have the very WIP melee combat between the devs Regardless thank you for sharing the stream like this, it's nice for those who missed it
360p. :( Looks watchable though. Too bad I already watched.

Terraria turned out to be a random purchase I made with a few friends during a sale, I did not regret it.
It's pretty much this and borderlands 2 for me this year. Terraria turned out to be a random purchase I made with a few friends during a sale, I did not regret it.
Borderlands wasn't that great to me. I only got it because a friend wanted me to play multiplayer with them and played it a handful of times with them. Terraria though I was already looking forward to when it was released. I had played SMBX a lot before Redigit tried to erase it from the internet so I knew that the game would feel alright physics-wise. Plus the entire idea of the game appealed to me. 2d platforming games are by far my favorite genre, Super Mario games and the Donkey Kong Country series I still play pretty often and some of my favorite games on Steam are platformers as well. (As well as Metroid and SotN and newer Castlevania games.) When Terraria came out I ended up buying like 6-7 copies of it or more, I forget how many exactly. I have 192 hours in it though and in 8 hours it will be one of only two games on Steam to have broken 200 hours for me. (Even breaking 100 hours for me is an accomplishment in any game. Even games I beat tend to end up with 30-40 hours of playtime at most then I just drop them.) [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] That was a lot more text than I intended...
