I thought it was background at first but it's in front of the tree if you look closely plus it doesn't match the sky or line up with the background that you can see.

Because unlike a certain other independent developer, they prefer to finish their product before charging money for it, and declaring it "released". Not release a pre-alpha build, then an alpha, then a beta, and finally give the "final" product (which isn't final at all), which only exists to boost sales and increase the price.
