I don't know if things like hunger/thirst/sleep/waste would make it in. They're all "annoying or nagging", since its a constant need you have to meet by a repetitive action.
Unless they already confirmed any of those, of course.
Maybe survival elements are less of hunger/thirst and more of temperature and other atmospheric elements (like breathable air?)?
I'd be a little disappointed if they excluded that, if only for the fact it'd mean that every planet is able to sustain life.
Having atmospheric modifiers, like thickness, oxygen content, toxicity, that'd be interesting. But what about radiation; would that be taking it too far?

i wonder if they will have planets with no atmosphere, it would be cool having an oxygen meter outside and being able to pressurize the inside of a base (airlocks!)
hunger sucks though, they should have food that gives you buffs instead, for people who want to screw around with cooking

If the game is as good as we we all want it to be, it will gain a sizeable modding community, and I I sure someone we share what you want.

If you guys recall I posted earlier about dumping sewage onto alien villages? Well, it seems like the fluted nature of the floran tree houses is perfect for creating a giant sewage bomb. See, all I need to do, is make a moderately sized hole at the top, pour in the sewage, and then fire a laser or something at it, igniting all the trapped methane.
