As long as it's a mod and not a set part of the game I see no problem with it. I find Slenderman neither scary nor funny, just quite dumb. But as long as I don't have to have it involved with the game I want to play, I don't care what others do.
Kinda disappointed that they didn't add some sort of canine/vulpine/feline race, but super badass robots totally make up for it.

I know it's still WIP and all, but I definitely find too many of the creatures are hostile. It'd be nicer to see more creatures rather flee from you, unless directly attacked.

I think Tiy's using the term Beta here a little loosely.
The way I see it, if they do this, we'll get a complete game, just without the story missions, meaning we'd be left with a pure sandbox until they add them.
I'd rather them take their time, and release the FINISHED game, for once.
I'm fed up with all this "preorder endless beta" bullshit that's going on lately.
It sounds like it could work; if the story is added in later, I hope there's a good amount of lore to make the Starbound universe interesting with.

To be fair what're you and most people getting Starbound for? The deep storyline?
Because I planned on getting it for sandbox and exploration shenanigans, the story mode missions are just icing on the cake to me

Same here, don't really care about the story at all.
Thing is, the story is what would flesh out the experience. Add a point to it. Sandbox games are fun, but what makes Starbound really different, is the fact it'll have a storyline. Something that'll make you wonder "what happens next".
Without it.. I don't know, it'll certainly be very fun, but at the same time.. yeah.
I hope they don't do it

I understand where you're coming from, I really do, but really the story, no matter how good, is going to pale in comparison to the longevity of the sandbox itself. I'm sure you could play the game and enjoy it, then dive into the story a few months after

Well I'm thinking what they meant by releasing it as a beta is either sometime in December or January when they have everything BUT the Story finished, so that'd mean the combat and all that is polished up, there just wouldn't be story missions
