also went out and purchased the 3DS, it is pretty amazing thus far, and took a look at my pokemon diamond and i'm oh so tempted to not start over i have SO many pokemon and the pokedex is nearly complete...

Well yeah, of course it's cheating in essence, but I play in a way as if when it is not in the game, I get it in the game that has it and I use pokesav to trade them over, as desmume can't trade. If I can't get it hands down, I just get it at a low level with pokesav. Though now I think about it, I could use a gameshark to make it think I'm at an event! And BanthaFodder I think it looks better than the green celebi. What's wrong with that? :frown:

I loved Blue but the pc was horrible
I think forth gen is my favorite. I liked quite a pretty penny of the Pokemon that came out as opposed to 2nd or 5th gen, and the male protagonist from Platinum was my favorite. Also my favorite Rival, and the locations were pretty nice too.
Fifth generation introduced too many powerhouses, and thanks to the dream world abilities, some previous generation Pokemon became borderline ridiculous as well, competitively speaking.
I found a new way to play that makes the games MUCH better.
Don't do ANY research.
Know the first few new ones that are revealed if you want to, but other than that, go in 100% blind.
It really brought me back to my childhood, when I'd run into something and go, "OH [b]FUCK[/b], WHAT IS THAT? IS THAT RARE? BECAUSE IT LOOKS RARE. OH [b]SHIT[/b], IT'S EVOLVING. WHAT'S IT GONNA BE? OH, THAT LOOKS FUCKING AWESOME/TERRIBLE."

4th Gen was nice, but it just felt so clunky and sloooow.
That said, all the generations were good in one way or another.
gen one was cool
gen 2 was very fucking cool
gen 3 was cool
i didnt really like gen 4 that much besides some pokes
and gen 5 im liking a lot
Second Gen is my fave, and Heart Gold/Soul Silver are my fave 4th Gen.
3rd gen took the battle mechanics and gave it a SMMMMMMMMOKIN' tuxedo, silk pants and shoes, combed it's hair and bathed it in Axe body wash.
And as such, mechanics-wise, 3rd gen might just partly be the reason why Pokemon succeeded at going on top of sales charts and still does.
I rest my opinion on 3rd gen whooping ass. Not necessarily any of the other gen's asses, but copious amounts of ass anyway.

Well, 4th gen also including Soul Silver / Heart Gold.
Because those were THE Pokemon games. I much didn't care for the protagonist design as opposed to FRLG / DPPt/ BW (not counting B/W 2, I think those deisgns are awful), it was pretty much the best, even though I've only ran through it once.
Stick the 4th gen Male Protagonist and 4th gen Pokemon in Soul Silver, with the graphics that of B/W, that would seal the deal for me.
Pokemon Crystal is the best pokemon game without a doubt.
